Light yellow, ample white head. Smell was not much, if anything, but wasn't putting me off either.

Taste, crisp, light beer, faint hop spice vibe bolstered by ample carbonation. Kind of your run of the mill adjunct style beer, a little husk grain feel. Has some utility when drank w/ spicy or Mexican food.

For super hot weather only.

From a 32 oz to a mug....
The color is a pale gold yellow with a white head that left some some lacing.
Smells like metallic water and grain.
Tastes like iron and yeast rolls.
Feels a little too bubbly, and very light.
This beer drinks almost like a carbonated water.

amazing that i am actually hunting down some of the worst beers on earth now. i found this and a couple more to help me kick this list on my way home from winston last night and decided to drink them as i was out in the yard all day today. served cold and poured into a pint glass, it was consumed on 08/29/2010.

same old yellow clear pour i have come to expect lately with a fizzy white head that simply dies as soon as it gets started.

aroma of light grains, corn, hints of musky, stale bread and a touch of skunk, getting scared already but i found the flavor to be not nearly as bad as it could have been given the rest of the profile. while being etremely light, there was a decent malty flavor an it was crisp and clean with no bad aftertaste and an easy to drink feel.

overrall i have had worse and on a hot day it was not that bad at al, dont think i will be rushing out to buy it though.

Picked this pup up at my local ethnic supermarket with a decent manufacture date. Pours light gold with a short-lived carbonic head. The nose is soft light grains, even slightly malty and way understated. I was ready to reach in the fridge for a lime, but resisted the temptation. It's very light in taste and texture; it makes Corona appear muscular by comparison. C.B. quenches well in this lousy, torridly hot and humid weather here in SE NY these days. So fire up the lawn mower, BBQ, or sit outside with a copy of Car & Driver, but don't forget the lime.

Carta Blanca is a clean lightly flavored beer from Mexico. It goes down easy. There is bit of adjunct sweetness through the center, but not much and overall not much flavor at all, which is what makes it drinkable. The color was as yellow a beer as I have seen, but the cap of foam was white and pillowy.

I agree with ,rlyinsrd ( Tyler, Texas ),in the respect of beer here is def not tghe same as what is brewed in Belgium and this beer is the Best of the best here in Mexico, so the people tell me. Its very smooth and has a distinct flavor over the other beers I have sought out here in the last 2 weeks and for day 10 of Mexico beer this is a big keeper!

Mexican beer should only be compared to mexican beer. When a country's water has the reputation that Mexico's has, one shouldn't expect the beer that's produced there to be on the same level as other beers from around the world. That being said, Carta Blanca is one of the best Mexican beers. It is very smooth with a pleasant after taste. It goes great with mexican food but I acually prefer other Mexican beers for that purpose. This is a good beer for drinking in the shade of a tree or out on the porch on a hot day. You can drink a six pack while grilling and your tongue will still be able to tell the difference between the cabrito and the menudo. I like it.

I really love this Mexican beer im my opinion it has a nice rich taste. If your in the mood for some smooth Mexican beer give this one a try. This goes great with almost any kind off food or just to sit back and pound some down with friends. Next time your in the store and see a 6 pack pick one up.

Pours a light yellow color, nice carbonation, small white head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with some hops, slight caramel. The taste is slightly sweet, malty, slight hop note. Light body. Not drinkable, would not buy again.

This beer pours a clear light golden color. The head is a quarter inch in height, and recedes quickly. The aroma is of corn, but is very faint. The taste is much the same. There is something there, but not much. The mouthfeel is light bodied, with annoyingly high carbonation. Overall, this is a disappointing adjunct lager. I have come to expect more from this style.

32 oz bottle pours a very clear, dark yellow color with a fat white foam that fades very fast and fizzily to a decent film. Leaves some nice lacing though and is not a bad looking AAL.

Smell is cornbread-esque adjuncts with a healthy dose of graininess. Even a little bit of grassy hops pervade the aroma. Not too shabby, but there is still the omnipresent light cardboard and stale malt smell found in so many adjunct lagers.

Taste is typical for the style - heavy and noticeable amount of corn. Malty sweetness seems to be a bit more noticeable in this beer and gives it a slight malt liquor fell to it, but the body is not thick or creamy at all. Not a bad brew and is really easy to throw back. I am sure I will find myself face to face with another quart of 'White Label' at some point in the future.

For an adjunct lager, this is actually pretty good. It pours a yellow that is a few shades darker than most adjuncts. A bit more bready and grapelike than most adjunct lagers, and also the mouthfeel, though light, is not as fizzy. It's a good beer to wash down Mexican food with and good for a summer day, but I prefer Bohemia.

A beer that's worth trying if you're at a Mexican restaurant. Not too bitter; fairly smooth. This beer reminded me of what I would expect from the most popular domestics, except that it was served with a lime. I will definitely give it another try, but I'm not dying for another bottle of it.

Poured from a 1quart bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance/Smell - Appeared a crystal clear gold color with high carbonation bubbles rising to the top, a fairly aggressive pour produced a 1 finger head with average retention. No lacing left and after a little while this beer loses allot of its Co2 and almost looks flat, kinda like apple juice. Smelled of a very forward grape/strawberry aroma with some subtle cracker & biscuit. The aroma was extremely clean and rather empty, that was about all I got.

Taste/Mouthfeel - Tasted very clean & watery, some mixed vegetable & subtle grain, some really watered down grape toward the finish, and it finished almost empty & flavorless with mild bitterness. Mouthfeel was crisp but very smooth, and around medium bodied with a slightly heavy feel to it surprisingly, that certainly didn't win this beer any points though.

Drinkability/Final thoughts - This beer was extremely drinkable but extremely flavorless as well. A Bud light will have more flavor than this beer, I just won't be buying this again, and I don't recommend it at all. I do recommend you go for something with a little more flavor, like Modelo Especial, Tecate, or my favorite of the style so far, Budweiser.

Pours straw yellow with a thin white head that has decent head retention for the style, though slowly it becomes wispy. Some trailing lace sticks.

The smell is of a touch of grain with a touch of husk. Inoffensive, and pretty "clean".

The taste is of mild husky sweetness with a touch of non-descript mild hops giving some balance to the sweetness. Mild cooked veggies are there. A sweet touch in the finish. A pretty vacant beer overall.

It has a crisp, light body. Not too fizzy for what it is.

As far as bland Mexican macros are concerned this isn't too bad - could do worse. Easy enough to drink a few while washing down some tacos (without adding or detracting much)...though for a Mexican macro to do the same, I would go with Bohemia.

Very "bready" for a pilsner. I usually like a bit more hop presence. I didn't notice the skunk that others have reported, but I think this is a pretty new bottle that hasn't had much light exposure. Reviewing pilsners are tough, because I usually find them so boring. This is no exception.

I drank this from a can into a glass in Puerto Vallarta.

It pours a light clear gold with a white head, not much head or lacing.

The aroma is light hops and a lot of skunk. The taste is basically the same. The mouthfeel is less than water, is that possible? Drinkable is ok but what's the point with the abv.

40 ounce bottle poured into a Carta Blanca pint glass (one of the more unfortunate periods in my glassware photo project currently underway).

Beer is clear (shocking I know), carbonation low to moderate, white head falls away leaving a little lacing on the glass. Light yellow in color, looks exactly like I expected. Does not maintain head at all.

Smells like a lager. Uninteresting smell, filled with crispness, some DMS, but fortunately no sulfur or "skunk."

Thin, almost no flavor until the back end. Lots of aftertaste and cornish bitterness. Some sweetness upfront, and by some I mean very little. Not a whole lot to write about because there isn't a whole lot going on.

I have a problem reviewing beers of this nature. There aren't really palatable examples in this category. I rated this beer based on a mixture of bias and trueness to style. Will I ever drink this beer again? Probably not. Is this a good example of its style? Its above average.

I suppose this beer appears very average upon pouring. There is very little head (< 1 finger) with minimal retention, and a decent amount of lacing. The beer itself is a translucent, pale gold color which features plenty of slowly rising carbonation which keeps replenishing a thin layer of head.

The aroma is largely composed of grain and corn, but I also detect a very mild hint of citrus (lemon?). It's a fairly sharp scent that is neither exceptionally pleasant, nor offensive.

Much like the nose, this beer has a very sharp grain taste that is complimented by a subtle corny malt and a tinge of lemon. Again, there really isn't much else to say; it's fairly simple. Due to the lack of complexity, there isn't much to say about anything related to balance, as the graininess largely dominates.

I find that this beer has a mild dehydrating effect. The sharpness also leaves me with a somewhat mildly metallic aftertaste. I would rate the body as medium to medium-heavy. Given the "light" appearance, I find this a bit suprising.

One could probably drink this beer in any number of ways: quickly, slow sipping, or any variant/combination of patterns. The taste is fairly abrasive, so I would advise against consuming it slowly.

I picked up a 6 pack of this at my local liquor store because I needed something for a family member's Mexican-themed birthday dinner, and it was cheap. As I'm sure you can infer from my review, this beer doesn't really seem very "Mexican." The excessive graininess far outweighs any citrus character, so this beer tastes much like the listed style - American Adjunct Lager. I don't suggest going out of your way to try this beer, but if you're looking for something cheap I suppose you could do worse.

Clear yellow with vaporware head, more like a haze across the surface. Could be mistaken for water under fluorescent lighting...

Fairly sweet, light hops and a light mustiness associated with many adjunct lagers.

Slightly sweet and so plain I had to try it twice to make sure I drank some. Only the slightest hint of hops and leaves a sweet corn aftertaste. No bitterness at all.

Slightly fizzy considering the lack of head and very smooth. Some density and body which is surprising considering the appearance, though nothing to write home about.

Served cold and was very crisp. Perhaps a replacement for lemonade? Wait, lemonade actually packs more punch.

Another local AAL with a better price will serve just as well. Absolutely nothing special here...

Appearance is a pale golden yellow with a fair head that dissapates quickly having very light lace. Smell of very light sweet grains and hops. Taste is lightly sweet, grainy corn cereal with light hops. Mouthfeel does have good body and carbonation. Definitely Better than what I originally expected.

12 oz. bottle, at a local Mexican restaurant,

A: Pours a pale yellow with really no head, dull and bland.

S: Corn, cooked cereal grains.

T: Some nice bready malt structures the beer, some DMS/corn but it is light. Notable hop finish in this beer for the style, not bad.

M: Light-bodied, crisp and smooth.

D: Overall much better than I thought it would be, a solid effort out of the Mexican industrial lager category.

A - pours a not-so-attractive pale straw color. almost greenish. tiny 1cm head diffused in seconds to nothing.

S - not much at all here. little grain, metallic and not much else.

T,M&D - a mod-light body. kinda syrupy for a lager. i wanted a bit more crispness from it. not a horrible mouthfeel, but a little below par for it's style for me. the taste is mostly predictable. a litle sweetness from grain, tortilla, rice, nothing too off, but just below par. it's a little watery, and not very flavorful. drink ice ice cold for maximum injoyment. better yet, pick something else...
