Has a distinct malty, mildly ,rich flavor compared to American adjunct beers and WAS a big deal along with all the other high dollar imports...... until the rise of American craft brews. Not great, but not bad either
P.S. Killer imports can still be obtained out there too.

Last bottle of this one from the "Cervezas de México" variety pack. Clearly-marked best-by date of September 2017 on the neck, printed twice oddly enough.

The beer has a fairly dark brown color to it once in the glass; just light enough to see through without a light, and shining a light through reveals that it's very clear and has some rising bubbles. The foam on top is just a bit off-white and formed a decent head at first, but has shrunk down to a thin cap with a few bigger, bubblier patches here and there and a thicker ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell is fairly mild but definitely malty; sweetish, bready or doughy, maybe a little toastedness in there. Occasionally there's just the slightest hint of a chocolatiness, interestingly. It's a pretty nice smell overall, though there may be a very slight metallic thing going on somewhere far in the background behind the malt. After a couple sips I pick up the slightest little bit of a lemon/lime sort of thing -- and thankfully, no more of the metallic hint from before. That's kind of interesting -- must be a hop thing I'm guessing? I know I do get a lemony sort of thing from some of the European hop strains from time to time, and most of the Mexican beers seem to use those rather than American hops.

Flavor is malty, similarly to the smell. Lots of lightly roasted grains going on, gives a nice medium-dark bread impression. Not quite getting the chocolatey impression that I picked up occasionally on the smell, though there is a definite hint of a richer, darker, sweet malt flavor going on there. Slightest hint of that lemon/lime hop thing occasionally, too. I'm honestly surprised by how much better this beer is than my first impression a couple years back -- the Mexican place where I tried it on tap must have had an old keg or some seriously messed-up tap lines because these bottles I've had lately are LEAGUES better than the big ol' mug full of disappointment I had back then.

Feel is on the light-and-crisp side, but more substantial than a lot of the paler lagers I've had. I'd have to have them both around the same time to really compare, but I want to say it's a lighter-feeling beer than my usual Mexican go-to Negra Modelo -- but not by a huge amount. Does seem to thin out slightly toward the end of the glass, shifting from a slightly heartier feeling beer to more of a basic lager light-and-crispness, but never gets to a point where it really seems "watery."

Overall this is a pretty tasty beer, and I'd say underrated for sure. Definitely glad I ended up re-trying this one after that bad first experience. This is a beer that's worth trying if you're looking for something outside the AAL category to have with a meal at a Mexican place, or even for the fridge at home if you're at all fond of medium-dark lagers (especially considering the kind of prices they put on those 12-packs when they're on sale!)

A: Amber body.
S: Very light bready-maltiness.
T: Somewhat sweet with a faint cinnamon finish.
M: Light bodied and sessionable.
O: Decent beer, and a fine exemplar of the Mexican-Vienna style. Fun fact: this beer became popular because of the Frano-Austrian imperialism over Mexico in the 1860s or so!

Taste : Light pilsner malts, a hint of caramel, slight spicy/earthy hops.

Feel : Light body, medium-low carbonation. Slightly sweet upfront and slightly dry finish.

I bought this on a whim, and it sat in the fridge for a month until I tried it. It was a bottled beer. This beer has a very traditional lager smell and taste. It can blend in with the rest of the crowd. It does have a little bit of a dry after taste, which is nothing different than other lagers. It's not anything too special but it's something that isn't terrible. It's not what I expected, it tastes like an American lager no matter what what the label says. I'd recommend it, but it's not my number one. It's decent, thats it.

Poured from a bottle. Amber/coppery color. Smells malty and of its style. Tastes very very sweet and caramel-like. Simple and tasty. Feels light enough that I wanted a few more, but not as light as an actual light beer or anything. Overall I would probably drink this with Mexican food. I would probably chose Negra Modelo over this given the opportunity, but this is pretty enjoyable too.

A - A golden brown color. Decent carbonation. Fairly transparent. Not much head at all on the pour.

S - Fairly mute. Malts come through. Light hop overtone. Expected for the style.

T - Hops right up front. Pretty smooth. Malts on the back end. Not overly complex (as expected) but very drinkable.

M - More carbonation than appears. Fairly wet. Medium-bodied.

O - Definitely a session beer. Could drink several of these. Good on a warm summer evening. Feel like I need a campfire to sit around. Really enjoy those malts on the back end. Pretty good, albeit pretty simple.

Brings the auburn color giving it a nice look, the 1/3" white head quickly subsides. The aroma isn't much, you can search for the usual descriptors of caramel and nuttiness that get bandied about when this style of beer is reviewed, but they really aren't there, its just a muted aroma where you can pull barley grain notes if you want to.

Taste was a highly carbonated and relatively low everything else (hops, bitterness, malt, caramel, nuttiness) kind of vibe. Doesn't seem like a stand alone beer, pretty much relegated to advertising jingles and paired with food.

Pours a dark brown with red highlights and a one finger khaki color head that disappates quickly. Aroma is caramel sweetness and light malt. Taste follows with caramel malt sweetness, a bit of earthy tones, and floral overtones. Mouthfeel is thin, carbonated and very drinkable. Overall, this is a decent vienna lager, especially for the macro brewers.

APPEARANCE: A very clear dark amber. No real head to speak of. Lots of medium size bubbles rising. No lacing down the glass.
AROMA: Earthy, sweet caramel malts.
TASTE: Some bready, caramel malt.
FEEL: Medium thin body, good carbonation, fairly dry all the way through the sip.
OVERALL: Just not much going on. No off tastes. I think it would go great with a lot of different foods because there isn't much to get in the way of flavor of food. Pretty refreshing, though.

Pours a nice amber hue with an off-white finger of foam.

Light toasted grain aroma. Nice sweetness.

Toasted malt biscuity and toast like sweetness. The slightest caramel note.

Light-bodied, high carbonation.

Overall, while this certainly isn't the greatest beer it's actually pretty decent.

Appearance: Deep orange marmalade, very attractive, white cap that quickly fades.

Aroma: Pleasant malt forward scent backed by hops.

Taste: Inoffensive, designed to be popular and in that I think it succeeds. Malty Vienna style with just enough hop presence to keep things interesting. It taste good and makes friends easily.

Overall: Perhaps at it's best accompanying food but works as a stand alone as well.

Dos Equis Amber Lager brewed by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V., with an ABV of 4.70% Now Dos Equis Amber Lager is an Vienna Lager style . This brew pours out a nice brown color with a a nice off white head. The brew has the look of root beer, now I'm not saying that is a bad thing. The smell of Dos Equis Amber Lager is rich with roasted grains , malts and hops. There is also a mild sweetness in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste it is rich with flavors. You pick up on roasted grains, malts, and hops. There is also a nice rich smooth, sweetness to this brew. This brew goes down nice and smooth. There is no bad aftertaste to this brew. Dos Equis Amber lager, has a real nice balance to it. There is nothing overpowering about this brew. This is one of the lighter Vienna Lager brews I have had but it is still a good drinking brew. The mouthfeel of Dos Equis Amber Lager is rich, bold smooth clean and refreshing. Overall I'm giving Dos Equis Amber Lager a 4.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V., did a nice job with this one.

Dos Equis Amber Lager | Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. POured from the bottle into a pint glass, this brew's head is two fingers thick, with web-like lacing, and a clear dark reddish brown body.

I smell grassy, bright grains along with full-bodied malts.

Tastes like a nice, rich blend of the previously described elements of this offering. Very slight carmalized malt note.

The mouthfeel I'm getting is medium with mild carbonation. Clean and smooth.

Overall, I'll rate Dos Equis Amber Lager | Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. with a 4.25. A mello, yet full flavor and quenching body that will hit the spot on just about any day when you're feeling like a fairly good cerveza.

I've seen pictures so I didn't bother pouring it into a glass, drank form the bottle.
The bottle had a nice foam head built up inside as I take drinks from it.

Smells of a lager, maybe some malts.

Tastes like a slightly sweet lager without much of an aftertaste.

Drinks smooth, soft carbonation that has a close to creamy feel to it.

Overall enjoyable, not heavy not light.

Served in a seidel, it pours a brownish copper, clear, with a one-finger ecru head, sudsy, with little retention.

Smells slightly of biscuit, lager yeast, sweet slightly roasted malts.

The flavor follows the nose. Prominent is the malty sweetness, caramel, biscuit and lager flavor; yet that sweetness it is balanced rightfully by the bitterness. There is a refreshing note that could almost pass as lemon too, subdued and gentle.
High carbonation, watery mouthfeel.

Not the worst mexican BMC, but not the best either.

Served in a frosted mug (meh)

Not really worth my time to review but not a bad brew. Simple (not complex in any way) and somewhat lacking flavour but a good looking and easy drinking beer. Definitely not the best Mexican Lager out there but I had to give it a try

Ugh. This is the best thing the Mexican food restaurant had, so I figured I would go ahead and review it. Pretty watery with very little flavor. Some hoppiness, but very subdued.

This beer is the standard to which all lagers should be accounted to. My all time favorite lager! Full or the lager flavor and nothing extra/unneeded. Take my word for it & buy yourself a 6-pack!

As with Mexican lagers, it is a simple beer. There is no complexity, no layers of anything. Is that "bad"? No. IF the want is for a beer that hs some flavor beyond the Mexican lagers, this is it with Bohemia.
