One of my favorite Mexican beers - it’s head and shoulders above any Corona and pairs well with both spicy and non-spicy food. Subtle smooth head, strong notes of malt and caramel, medium carbonation with silky smooth finish. Not much lingering mouthfeel. An unexpectedly refined beer considering it’s usually lumped together with other lighter lagers.

Straight out the bottle. Aromas aren't much to write home about, but the flavors and mouthfeel remind me a lot of Yuengling's Amber lager. Both are very drinkable, have the same chocolatey/caramel malt profile, and a mildly fluffy mouthfeel to boot.

It’s a decent beach beer when you’re traveling in Mexico

Nice and pleasant for a vienna style lager. Toasty & malty sort of like Negra Modelo. No off or metallic flavors. It has a best before date on the bottle. The Dos Equis is smooth & drinkable but the Negra Modelo might have beat by a notch or two. Cheers! B- (80-84) score range

I don’t know if it’s the lack of options at the all inclusive I’m staying in Cancun, that and the fact that everything I’ve had so far is pretty bad, nevertheless, I feel like I finally hit the mini jackpot.
Pours a clear dark amber/brown color. Modest head quickly dissipates; a thin ring of lacing remains.
The nose is nothing special. Although it is mostly clean, I do get faint caramel malt, dark toasted bread and even a hint of citrus. On the downside, there is a bit of a metallic aroma.
The taste is it’s best attribute. Bready and toasty with a caramel malt sweetness that lingers nicely in the finish. A modest touch of hops provide flavors of dry tea leaves and modest bitterness.
Medium to light bodied albeit a bit thin. Clean, balanced; my favorite part is the sweet and creamy finish.
A decent lager that pairs well with Mexican food.

I use to drink this all the time when I started out drinking beer. Now I find it overly malty, heavy, and with little else going for it. Still, it was nice revisiting if only for the trip down memory lane.
