Standard lager look but with a decent amount of head.

Smell of cereals and grains.

In the mouth it's also the cereals and grains that come through.

Nothing exceptional but not bad either, easy to drink.

Dos Equis Special Lager brewed by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V., with an ABV of 4.30% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. The smell of Dos Equis Special Lager, is rich with grains and corn, and malts. You also pick up a hit of hops in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste of Dos Equis Special Lager, it is bold with flavors. You pick up on grains and malts in the taste of this brew. Dos Equis Special Lager is a real smooth drinking brew. This brew has the look, taste and feel of most American style larges on the market. Now I'm not say that is a bad thing. There is nothing overpowering about Dos Equis Special Lager, it goes down nice and smooth. The mouthfeel of Dos Equis Special Lager, is rich, bold, smooth and refreshing. If you are looking for a bolder lighter brew look this one up . Overall I'm giving Dos Equis Special Lager, a solid 4 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V., did a nice job with this one.

Bottle poured into glass mug at Chili's Restaurant on Cinco de Mayo.
A-Clear yellow with orange & green tints. next to no head, next to no lacing.
S-Sweet malt with very faint, citrus & spice notes.
T-Mineral water with mild peppery notes & even fainter lime peel zest.
M-Very big carbonation, very light watery body.
O-Very light crisp easy drinker.

Another garden variety AAL carrying an import price tag. Yawn.

The best thing I can say about this one is it washes down food well. Our local has the 4 pack 16 oz cans for $3.59 and that avoids light struck examples, but even in best condition it's nothing to get excited about. Light color and flavor, little hops or malt, not really an improvement over Bud Light.

Buy it if you're making tacos and want to keep a theme going.

Aggressive pour from a 12 oz. can got me 1 finger of white soapy head topping a clear golden beer with lots of streaming bubbles.

Smell is fairly plain barley and malts with that white bread smell in it. No skunk smell so perhaps the can protects this beer better than the bottle.

Taste is like clear water with some barley and malts with a bit of hops somewhere in there. Very clean taste and refreshing when served cold.

Mouth feel is very wet and watery with a nice easy finish on the backside.

So far this would have to be my favorite beer from south of the border. I always liked Tecate but it does have kind of an odd paper like taste as it finishes. I do not get that with this beer. I also see in some reviews the skunk thing happening. Maybe cans are the way to go to protect the beer better. With a low ABV, and a refreshing taste when served up cold, I can see me popping several of these sitting poolside this summer when it gets up to 115 degrees!

I can get this in a 32 oz frosty mug at the local Mexican joint and it goes damn good with fajitas. I believe every beer has a place and time, even Bud Light

I get a 20 oz draft every time I find myself in a Mexican restaurant. In my mind, it's the compliment to any "south of the border" dish. The right amount of alcohol for an evening meal.

1/19/16 - On SWA poured from can into SWA airline plastic cup, with lime wedge.Decent carbonation, mild white head, and hops aroma. Slight taste of malt and hops. Decent texture, easy drinking. OK.

Not a terrible beer by any means, it pours a light gold with a very small head. Has a light taste to it with an average amount of carbonation. The thing that stuck out to me the most is that it had an awful smell to it, however the actual taste wasn't bad at all.

Had this on tap (with a lime wedge) at a Mexican restaurant with dinner. Very light golden color, little to no head. Mild hop aroma with a similar taste. Light bodied, not very carbonated, easy to drink. Obviously a far cry from good craft beer, but comparing with the likes of Bud Light, Coors Light, etc this ain't too bad.

On tap. Served very cold in a pint glass.
Pale golden body is very clear but has less visible carbonation than expected, It is topped by a short weak head.
Very light and mild aroma but not unappealing. The flavor follows although, thankfully, more hops are present here. Both are more hoppy than malty. Not flawed but only as strong as I'd expect for a light beer (although I have limited experience with that style. Light body is a bit watery.

Poured from the green bottle in which it was housed. Nose is skunks, tastes somewhat the same. There was a hint of corn in the nose. It went down like water. Came from a "Beers of Mexico" sampler pack, which also contained the rare Noche Buena. You could easily drink these all day long after working in the yard or around the house.

Golden with lots of carbonation that sticks to the side of the glass. Nice head goes down fast. Smell is a very light hops and malt, not much here. Tastes of watery malt with a slight hop bitterness. Unimpressive, lacks real or original taste.

Whoa was not impressed, even keeping in mind I was drinking a lager. It had a musky and tainted aftertaste and it's best attribute at the time I tried it was that it was cold. I don't know what that Dos Equis guy is thinking.

S- Tons of corn and malts.
T- Fizzy and some malts, nothing else.
F- Bubbly.
O- Mediocre.

A typical lager appearance. Golden color. Miniscule head. Moderate-to-low carbonation. Smells the part as well. Very inoffensive notes of malt, but really the smell is almost non-existent.

Carbonation dominates this beer. Not necessary because the carbonation is high - but because there is nothing else. I suppose that, just like the smell, there are some malt in this beer. But really, this is the definition of forgettable. Could I see myself drinking this on a warm summer day? Definitely. But in all honestly, I'd rather take a Budweiser or a Miller Lite.

Meh. I can drink this one at a mexican restaurant every now and then. Obviously I am never ever buying this beer in any other capacity. Pairs well with chips and queso and fajitas.

I live in the great country of Texas, and having a Dos Equis is what we call "being cultured". This is the perfect beer for floating the river, playing cornhole, and tailgating. You can drink infinity of them if you're outside and it's over 100 degrees. Who the hell cares about its head retention and lack of floral notes. Awesome beer.

Looks right - clear, fizzy, a bit towards the orange end of the yellow spectrum. Smell is non-descript. Bready, malty, no real hops. Maybe a bit of overcooked rice. Flavor is wet white bread and something like cabbage and / or cauliflower. Not sulphury though. Finish is flabbier than it should be.

Very easily drinkable beer. Taste, I think, is almost none. Some small taste is on first feel, but no aftertaste and smell is also weak. Maybe this is nice beer as ice cold on very hot day when thirsty, because it feels almost like water, but has little beer aroma.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of white foam that halves itself within 30 seconds. State yellow in color. There is a plethora of rising bubbles. Lacing is high and sticks to the sides of the glass.
SMELL: Has strong aromas of white rice from the adjunct rice malts that mix poorly with mild boiled cabage aromas and hints of spicy hops, bitter hops, and car exhaust (I swear I'm not making the exhaust up).
TASTE: The first flavor that I perceive is a combination of strong white rice, mild boiled cabage, and subtle spicy hop flavors. A hint of bitter hop flavors enter immediately after as all flavors persist with the exception of boiled cabbage, which grow stronger. Luckily, no car exhaust flavors are present.
FEEL: This brews body thickness is stuck somewhere in the gray area between light-bodied and medium-bodied. Moderately carbonated with a pleasant and crisp (I know that's redundant given that "crisp" implies that something is already pleasurable, but I'm using my choice of words as a way of emphasis) finish.
NOTE: This isn't exactly a horrible beer. It's very tolerable. But there is a thick line between tolerable and enjoyable. Cheers.

The flavor of this beer is...nonexistent. Seriously, I've had water with more flavor than this. The only reason they can call this beer is because the water's gone through some beer-like processing.

Arived at the table in a large goblet ringed with salt and chili powder. Couldn't see thru the glass, it was a murky red color. Crap it is a michelada. That is right, took this average beer and had them dump clamato, hot sauce, and lime juice in it. Sorry but that is how I finish a night at a Mexican restaurant. I really don't need to give you a beer review, because I agree with most of the reviews below for this beer. It has a little personality, but it comes across really bad on it's own. Put it in a michelada or a beer rita and that personality adds to the game. Not a beer that I would normally drink on it's own, but it is good for the 2 applications above.

This was my first Dos Equis experience and it was a total letdown.

First off, the smell was average, it was a mediocre potent scent, traditional smelling lager.

The taste was really...bland. It just wasn't a fun experience. It was a mild carbonation and the taste had no surprises, or hidden recipes that I caught. I took my time trying to like it, but it just wasn't happening for me.

The aftertaste was actually not terrible. For some reason I kept getting a hint of lime aftertaste.

Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this. Maybe it was just this specific flavor that was the letdown.

It at least has a taste, which is better than I can say for some macro lagers, but it is far from a good taste. Sort of a dull, sweetish corn. I didn't drink it with a lime - maybe it would have been better?
