This is a great Mexican beer, has a goldish color with a thin head. The smell isn't too great with sour grains. The taste is remarkably smooth with a sweet corn taste. There is a sweet aftertaste but it goes down well.

Second bottle from the "Cervezas de México" variety pack. Best-by date of September 2017, alongside a Julian bottling date of 6274, or 274th day of 2016.

Pours very pale yellow, a little darker once in the glass but still definitely on the paler end of things. It's perfectly clear and has a nice shine to it, along with an abundance of rising bubbles. Foam forms a thin white cap on the surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring around the edge; seems that it wants to stick around for a while, as it hasn't shrunk any more since pouring. Leaves pretty nice rings of lacing behind as the beer is drank, too.

Smell is sweet corn, with a bit of funkiness that reminds me of corn husks or something along the lines of wet hay. As the beer sits and warms a slight metallic thing starts to develop; toward the end of the glass it is not "slight" anymore, unfortunately -- it starts to dominate the other smells. While it's not totally unpleasant, especially when cold, smell is definitely not this one's strong suit.

Taste is also corn-like, but much less sweet; there's a bit of a bitterness at the very beginning of each sip, and it's pretty dry overall, there's only a light pop of sweetness on the end that reminds me of what you get when you eat... well, corn. It's reminding me a bit of an unsalted tortilla chip, which was the impression I got the first time I had this one. There's a bit of a yeastiness to it as well, I'm noticing this more around halfway through the glass this time. Fortunately the metallic smell that arrives as the beer warms never transfers over to the flavor -- it's pretty consistent from beginning to end, at least when going from fridge-temperature to somewhat warmer than that over the course of 15-20 minutes.

Feel is pretty nice. Light and crisp and drinkable but not watery, feels noticeably more substantial than the "light" beers despite being in the same ABV range as them. That may be thanks partly to the carbonation, but whatever it is it works. It's definitely highly carbonated, but this comes across as a pleasant seltzer-y fizz rather than an uncomfortable prickliness.

Overall, not a bad little beer as AALs go, funky metallic smell aside. It's only 4.2% ABV according to this bottle (the site says 4.5%, maybe the beer has changed or maybe just batch variance?), but it's much more interesting and flavorful than the American "light/lite" beers in that ABV range -- I'd say it's more comparable to the standard AALs than the "light" bunch, despite having alcohol in the "light" range. I've been pleasantly surprised by these Mexican beers -- it's making me want to re-review the American examples of the style without the "lighter flavors = lower taste score" bias that I had in my earlier days of reviewing.

L: Golden but not too pale. Doesnt hold a head very well either.

S: Cant pick up any smell or aroma from this. Quite a bad sign in hindsight.

T: Frankly barely passable as a beer, taste like watered down Corona. Works much better as a tropical refreshment than beer. I can pick up a hint of metallic taste in the aftertaste.

F: More akin to bitter carbonated water.

O: Coming from the Phils. I expected Mexican cervezas to be light, refreshing with a hint of sweetness. Was quite disappointed with this one. Corona is better even though it not exactly good.

Same as Pacifico (Corona never was any good- it was always the crappy Mexican beer), this has been dumbed-down by the giant conglomerate that owns it now to light beer territory. Sol used to be a wonderful example of the Mexican beers that the Germans originated in the early twentieth century- as long as it wasn't skunked due to its clear bottle. Now it's basically water. Strained mud puddle water.

A direct competitor to Corona, the bottle looks the same and the beer tastes the same. A little too carbonated for my liking, but pretty refreshing for a hot day. Not good not bad.

Darker gold than many other options in style, decent white head fades pretty quickly to a thin cap. Smell is very straightforward malt, and not even a whiff of skunk! Taste is the same: clean, unperturbed sweet malts. Mouthfeel is nice and full, and the sharpness of the carbonation is nicely . I'm a little surprised to find this available in the 32-oz. section at the gas station; it's a pretty good beer, even independent of its AAL brethren. Paired perfectly with my homemade chicken quesadillas and pico de gallo.

Sometimes I wonder what the point of all the light lagers are. Especially overpriced ones imported from Mexico. I gave this a three for looks just because I kind of liked the classic branding and clear bottle looks kinda nice with the light, very clear lager color.

Hardly any smell to it. A big inhale in my glass yields nothing that smells to me like barley malt, hops or yeast. Maybe a little corn or grain. Flavors are so watered down, it just hardly tastes like anything. Very light lager flavor that quickly disappears. Soapy aftertaste appears as soon as the beer isn't ice cold. It's passable for washing down mediocre food on a hot day, but I won't spend money on this.

Money thrown down the fucking drain. Just awful, even cold it sucks... Cheap Corona wannabe. Zero flavours. Average pilsner color. Not recommended at all.

Tried for 1st time in a variety 12 pack of beers of Mexico and it wasn't the best out of the pack but it wasn't the worst either. Decent Mexican beer not as good as Tecate or Corona but better than some others.

Had this one straight out of the bottle. Not much aroma to speak of. Taste was pretty much like the other Mexican beers, a little light but it does the trick. I thought this was better than Corona but not quite as good as Modelo.

Skunky and not much else for aroma. Flavor's just carbonated beer water. Body reflects that. Finish is kind of sweet, corn, bland. Nothing really bad, just nothing good.

Pale, yellow in color. Not terrible. Light, crisp and easy drinking. Malty, sugar water. Some bitterness. Decent carbonation. Recommended to drink ice cold.

Looks light yellow with basically no head and thin. Smells farmish, corn and grains. Corn and grain juice, not to bad for Mexican beer. Light body and medium carbonation. Beer is pretty bad but what can you expect, in terms of crappy Mexican beer it's not too bad, slight refreshing and wouldn't be bad on a hot day.

Look: clear gold color, transparent, without sediments; low foam formation with very low persistence;
Smell: corn smell with thin and light cinnamon note;
Taste: typical light taste of Mexican corn beers, fleeting aftertaste without expression, balanced alcohol;
Feel: low carbonation; very soft and light Lager, watery;
Overall: light beer that combines with heat, pool, sea and party; good Drinkability 4+/5+ in these situations (only).

I'm willing to be forgiving to AALs, but this is pretty poor. Not refreshing. Slightly crisp and slightly sticky, though mostly watered down especially in any flavors. Stale bread, cardboard. Ugly bottle with an ugly looking yellow beer.

As far as Mexican beer goes... This one is the easiest beach going, spring break partying, hot summer night binging beer of the bunch (Pacifico a close second, less sweet option).

Mexican Lite with a cool label.

Mexican beer without flavor which some would call a complete sentence. Lightest of the light perhaps? It doesn't taste bad, what taste there is, but it's so unimpressive it doesn't make an impression.

What to have if it's all the beach bar has, and it's already cold.

Poured from 12oz clear bottle into a dimpled mug. Wish me luck!

Appearance: clear golden hue with minimal haze and no effervescence. Head is a thin layer of frothy white foam that doesn't have much in the way of staying power.

Smell: lightly sweet with a big dose of plastic. Not so great.

Taste: mostly like the aroma. A bit less plastic, but mostly just kind of a wet barley experience. Not good even by AAL standards.

Mouthfeel: light in body with a decent carbonation. Not terrible, really.

Overall: not the worst beer I've had, but it's still not great. If I were on a beach in Mexico, I'd pick something else.

Appearance - The beer was golden yellow with a white head.

Smell - This beer smells like sweaty armpits. For most, this is not an attractive smell.

Taste - More Seltzer water than beer here. With this is mind, the beer is almost completely absent of flavor aside from a dry cereal aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is pretty intense, which may be needed to brush away the non-existent flavor.

Overall - I don't think limes would help this one.

Pretty unoffensive Mexican lager. Nose is corn products. Taste is like water from the nearest stream. Last time I had this it was a hot summers day in St. Louis and I was at the neighbors house for a barbecue. Somewhat better than Corona, but then again not really, as you still need a lime in this beer.

Cheap, refreshing Mexican beer. I will take this over Corona any day. Tastes better and cheaper. Not much to describe here, just a light tasting yet refreshing beer that'll remind you if a nice summer day.

Wow, clear painted bottle. Looks terrible. Smells like corn syrup at best.

Taste is nonexistant. Like more stale Corona. Barely perceptible beer things like hops, malt and yeast. Really just a bunch of water. Boiled vegetables all over the flavor, mouthfeel, aroma etc. . .

Funny thing is, this stuff costs more than Sierra Nevada!

It's in a clear bottle, so chances of it being any good are low.
I still poured it into a glass for easy drinking.
Looks like an average yellow cheap beer.
Smells... bad. I don't know what it smells like other than cheap.
Tastes pretty bad. Reminds me of Corona Extra, it tastes bad, but not so overly powerful that you can't finish one.
Feels okay, easy to drink if you can get past the taste.
Overall, if it didn't come in a variety pack I wouldn't be drinking it. This being my first of 3 that the pack came with, I will not be buying this one again on its own.
