This Mexican beer poured nicely with a clear yellow color, 1 finger head and decent lacing. Looked pretty good! The aroma reminded me of a back road along a farm that had recently been fertilized. Add to that a dead skunk and it sums it up nicely. The taste? This is just one nasty beer! Let’s put it this way. An ice cold Rolling Rock is a glorious thing on a hot summer day. A piss warm Rolling Rock is well like… piss. This beer, even served ice cold makes me prefer a warm Rolling Rock! It was actually difficult to finish! A drain pourer for sure and not worthy of even beer batter for frying. 4.5%ABV

Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color beer with a small bubbly head with very little retention. Aroma of corn and adjunct is totally dominating and not very interesting. Taste is bland and boring with some corn being sensible and for the rest it is mostly watery. Just another boring pale lager I guess.

Appearance – Yellow body with a tinge of orange. No cabeza on this cervesa.

Smell – The only scent I can pick up from the glass is creamed corn in a can.

Taste – Caramba! This can’t be good. It tastes like someone rolled a skunk in corn batter and somehow crammed the poor little guy into a bottle. There’s some sweetness in there, but I think that’s just my gums bleeding.

Mouthfeel – There’s some faint Alka-seltzer type of carbonation in there, but otherwise it’s pretty dead.

Drinkability – Forget the lime, you’re gonna have to plop a watermelon in the glass to cover up this taste.

Comments – This is one bad beer. The Sol has set.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pale yellow in color. Small head with no lacing and minimal retention.

Smell: Wheat, corn, water. A touch of lemon is as far as this beer goes in the aroma department.

Taste: Yuck! Metal is the first thing I spotted. Corn and water make up this sad beer, I actually like Corona and Modelo but this is a disgrace. The metal aftertaste makes this a huge dissappintment.

Mouthfeel: Light and carbonated, no real body to this, water consistency.

Drinkability: This beer is awful, Im pretty fair in my reviews but this beer misses the mark entierly. Taste like a mixture of corn, water and metal. If your going for this style, do yourself a huge favor and get a Corona, this is the worst Mexican beer Ive ever tried. Absolutley pitiful.

Very light beer with dominant skunky notes in the aroma. Pours clear and pale yellow with a mild white foam head. Smell is skunky and corny, taste is mild and body is watery.

Poured a dark clear gold color with an ultra thin line of white fizzy head.

Smell had just a hint of sweet corn syrup.

Taste, well basically there is none, taste like they put one hop in a 50 gallon batch of yellow water with the slightest taste of grain.

Mouthfeel - water.

Easy to drink if you just want a cold glass of water. Avoid this one.

This will be short and sweet as I won’t waste your time of mine, but I had to re-sample as it’s been almost 4 years since my last sample and I hoped for better things alas I was wrong.

The beer pours a clear gold with a smallish white head that is bubbly in texture, the lace a decent covering sheet with the front sweet and lightly malted, top is watery. Finish is somewhat acidic, the hops mild and the aftertaste sweet and somewhat dry, a totally forgettable beer.

drank from bottle, the way it should.
A: straw yellow, thin head, no lacing.
S: corn, faint hops.
T: corn, faint malt and hops, strange aftertaste.
M: almost over carbonated, but still has a crisp feeling.
D: ok when very cold! and only when cold.

I drank this from a bottle into a glass in Puerto Vallarta.

It pours a super clear and light gold, with a 2 finger light head that has decent staying power.

The aroma is light lime and hops with skunk, not much there.

The taste is super light and skunky. Its really bad with hardly any flavor but skunk.

Mouthfeel is super light and not drinkable.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Thanks (?) to my buddy Jim for sharing this with me, just for the tick. I've been busy catching up on my backlog of notebook reviews, so this one will follow Rare BCBS in my list of reviews. How's that for a juxtaposition?

A: Clear yellow body with a few fairly large bubbles floating up to a thin, coarse, fleeting white head. Meh.

S: Jeez that's terrible. Old, moldy cooked corn, and that's it. It only has one dimension, and it's an awful one.

T: Tastes like watered-down moonshine, mixed with some metal shavings. Harsh, corny, and gross. Oh, and yet it's also extremely weak and watery. What a horrible concoction.

M: Thin, watery, and under-carbonated. At least it's not painfully fuzzy.

O: This might not be the single worst beer I've ever had, but it's damn close. I really don't understand why anyone would willingly drink this.

Reviewed from notes.

Poured into a pint glass. The pour brings a yellow colored body with a very thin white head of large bubbles that disappears nearly as quickly as it forms, kind of like a soda. Nose is light grain and some adjuncts. The taste is just gross. It's kind of like Corona, but perhaps worse. Light grain with some bitter husks. Very light body. Lots and lots of carbonation. Again, not good. If that's all some place has, I'll have a water. Same taste, less filling, to paraphrase what some might say.

A- Indistinguishable from the Corona poured earlier. Literally. Pale pale pale. Fairly decent head, though. Leaves surprisingly good lacing down the inside.

S- Burnt sourness. Really, that burnt odor is the worst. Reminds me of old cream of mushroom soup. Gross.

T- More balance than most Mexican adjuncts, but balance between awful cereal grains and some of the worst tasting hops ever. Quickly subsiding "flavor". No thanks.

M- Slightly more subdued bubbles than the other Mexican adjuncts. Still spritzy and active.

D- Very poor. Just a hair above the competition in everything but smell. God, that is a rank smelling beer.

Appearance : looks like a typical American adjunct lager

Smell: I only smell grains.

Taste: You can taste the healy adjuncty of corn , metallic. the aftertaste is long and horribly rotten. If you drank this quick it can be drankable.

Mouthful: Average carbonation with a light watery body

Overall : This is not a good beer . I would pick corona , tecate before this beer. Just not a godd beer to drank.

grain aroma.

Wow, clear painted bottle. Looks terrible. Smells like corn syrup at best.

Taste is nonexistant. Like more stale Corona. Barely perceptible beer things like hops, malt and yeast. Really just a bunch of water. Boiled vegetables all over the flavor, mouthfeel, aroma etc. . .

Funny thing is, this stuff costs more than Sierra Nevada!

I could rant about clear bottles, but some good English ales come in clear bottles too.... yet the UK is not as sunny as Mexico.

Pours golden, with white frothy head, some good lace. Looks OK.

Smells sulfury, old damp rag, slight sour vegetable note. Urgh.

Grainy malt is the initial flavour, then...nothing. Can I detect a very faint citrus note ? Or is it a phantom sense echoing from other Mexican lager experiences ?

Bodyless, nothing remains.

Best drunk when dying of thirst in the desert. Otherwise forget it.

Yikes but this is not a very good beer. We had no other option on a Margarita Cruise in Acapulco so I had a few cups of this to verify my dislike. Typical Mexican watered down, yellow, bland crud.

A:The look of the beer is a dark gold almost amberish color. Nice to look at.

S: Skunky wet grass.

T: Tastes like a Corona without being so watered down. Sweet almost citrousy. I do however get a lot more skunk flavor which makes this beer taste pretty gross.

M: Average carbonation with a light watery body. Crisp and clean.

O: It is not too bad, compared to beers in the same style like Corona or Bud, but the only reason to buy this is if you want to look different from the person drinking the Corona or Bud. Much better beers in this style and price range.

Appearance - The beer was golden yellow with a white head.

Smell - This beer smells like sweaty armpits. For most, this is not an attractive smell.

Taste - More Seltzer water than beer here. With this is mind, the beer is almost completely absent of flavor aside from a dry cereal aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is pretty intense, which may be needed to brush away the non-existent flavor.

Overall - I don't think limes would help this one.

L: Golden but not too pale. Doesnt hold a head very well either.

S: Cant pick up any smell or aroma from this. Quite a bad sign in hindsight.

T: Frankly barely passable as a beer, taste like watered down Corona. Works much better as a tropical refreshment than beer. I can pick up a hint of metallic taste in the aftertaste.

F: More akin to bitter carbonated water.

O: Coming from the Phils. I expected Mexican cervezas to be light, refreshing with a hint of sweetness. Was quite disappointed with this one. Corona is better even though it not exactly good.

Look: Maybe it's a redundancy but the color is golden like the sun (sol in spanish), bare head of foam with acceptable lacing; Smell: Corn syrup and sweet malt, smells strange but not bad; Taste: Corn syrup, pineapple concentrate and lot of carbonation; Mouthfeel: Like sweet medicine, medium carbonation and light body; Drinkability: Very sweet, seems serum of beer, too sickly to drink several.

Pours a pale straw colour, produces a little bit of head that sticks around surprisingly well considering how thin it is to begin with, lot of carbonation and minimal lacing. Doesn't knock my socks off, in fact it kind of bores my ass off instead. Very standard.

Smell is fairly weak although some sweet adjuncty grain notes on there. Whiff of bread yeast. Quite unpleasant, really. Not offensive enough to be out and out dreadful, but pretty bad for what's there.

Taste is similar, with a slight chemical tang about halfway through the palate, and a sticky bread yeast character on the back. Very pale grain notes underlie the palate but for the most part, this is just weak, watery piss. Did I expect anything else? The bread yeast character renders this quite undrinkable, because it's actually an unpleasant aspect, but apart from that there's nothing to this at all. Mouthfeel is thin and sticky, nothing to grab onto at all.

What a bad beer. This deserves a good spanking.

Smell : traces de céréales
Taste and mouthfeel : douceâtre, notes maltée à peine perceptible, pas d’amertume. dominate aqueuse

i should have gone with my instinct and not bought this beer i knew it was going to be a bad beer. i really don't have a good thing to say about it.

poured a clear light golden color with a frothy one finger head that disappeared to just the beer and no lacing at all. smell was weak, corn grain and metalic. taste weak corn grain and that was it. mouthfeel weak, watery, weak carbonation, drinkability? i don't think so.

What's worse than a Sol? A skunked Sol. I bought a four-pack of this at Tesco, having never tried it. At least 2 of the 4 were completely skunky. First time I've ever poured out a beer because I simply could not finish it. What follows is a review of the non-skunked version.

Appearance: urine-colored beer with 1-finger head, white in color.

Smell: non-descript adjuncts with some grains and a very slight hint of lime (or perhaps I'm just wishing I had something to make this taste better)?

Taste: non-descript Mexican lager. I actually like Dos Equis (same brewery), but this is pretty bad.

Drinkability: Maybe it'd go okay with a palomilla or bistek, but otherwise I'd skip it.

Poured a generic yellow gold. No head, no lacing.

Taste - I've finally had my 1st bottle of creamed corn!!!. Literallly, this tastes like creamed corn. After a couple sips, I put a l;ime in it. Creamed corn and lime. It isn't horrible, but it isn't good at all.

Mouthfeel - Water.

Overall - I could drink a few of these for hydration purposes only but I wont. Im one and done on this beer. Maybe good for a college kid who is trying to get buzzed at a bbq or float trip. Otherwise, stay away from this one.
