Perhaps many may not find Sol the most remarkable, unique or mentioned brew on a personal favourite's list, there are a few respectable notes that make it a worthy summer treat. In the category of island/tropical brews (like Corona, Tecate, or Landshark), Sol retains a light flavour and crispness one would hope for to accompany a healthy lunch. Two redeeming factors are a light almost floral scent like gardenia and a clean wash with virtually no aftertaste. Not a lot of froth, but the fizz sticks around for the finish.

I think this beer suffers from the skunky beer in a clear bottle syndrome. I lucked out and found a fresh bottle in a dark spot in the cooler. Its not great but its not awful.

L: brilliant straw gold with streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 1" white foam collar with fair retention

S: faint fruit aroma, light corn, light grains, traces of malt, and fresh bread dough

T: light sweet corn, light grain and bread dough seasoned with a mild hop bitterness

F: light bodied and highly carbonated

O: There is not much there but what is there is drinkable

Basic all day beer - bring some limes. First time I went to Mexico I drank this instead of water. Helps wash down tequila.

Yuck! It was the only option at the restaurant and I stopped at one. Generic for sure.

Smell is mostly malt and corn. Taste is not bad, mostly corn but there is a hint of hops in the taste. Feel is light, but highly carbonated.

Overall beer is refreshing and okay, it really dosen't stand out in any way but it is not bad either. I would watch out when buying this beer since it comes in a clear bottle, it might be suspect to skunking.

12oz bottle BB February 2018 poured into a pint glass at fridge temp 4.2% ABV. This beer was pulled from a closed Beers of Mexico 12 pack so there is no light damage. The beer is pale straw yellow with a fair amount of white head and a little lacing. The aroma is a sweet, corny smell. The taste is corny, grainy with a tiny tart finish. The mouthfeel is moderately thin with good carbonation and dryish finish. Overall, good. This is much better than most domestic AALs, but is doomed by the clear bottle. Don't be afraid to grab a mix pack that includes this one.
