Small off white to tannish head just sort of sit at about a quarter inch above a clear and bright copper to bronze colored beer.

Light aroma of lightly roasted caramel malts with a yeasty almost sour edge to it.

Light roasted caramel malts taste without much else coming through with this better than average beer from south of the border.

Almost wet feeling aftertaste without much if any tastes remaining behind with this light bodied beer.

Considering that most Mexican beers like Corona, Tecate, Dos Equis, Sol, etc are pretty not good unless you add lime and maybe beer salt, this beer seems to be above average considering the source. That's still not a recommendation to run out and buy this beer, if you want a decide beer from south of the Rio Grande you should drink Negro Modelo or maybe Dos Equis Amber.

12 oz bottle with incomprehensible date stamp. Served in a pint glass. Amber color, vigorous pour yields one finger of anemic tan head which quickly fades. Good clarity. Bready nose, doughy, hints of caramel and toasted malts. In the mouth, it's bready with a weak hop character. Water, flat-ish, possibly I got an older bottle but impossible to tell from incomprehensible "date" stamp. Overall: Flat, borderline artifical flavor, fairly drinkable. Was somewhat surprised to discover that this was a Marzen as the label gives no indication. A very low-average representation of style as I received this particular sample.

A: Pours a dark caramel color with sticky lacing around glass.

S: Has a hoppy, grassy, malty smell to it.

T: Corny, grassy, malty, and has a nutty after taste. Not the most flavorful beer out there but it's not bad if you're looking for something refreshing with some flavor.

M: Light and smooth. Easy drinking.

O: Not bad. It has enough flavor to make it a lawn mower beer but not enough to be memorable. I could definitely have this with some Mexican food.

This beer really lives up to my expectations - the best lager around! I drank Indio quite a bit when I was working in Monterrey, Mexico. I'm living in the Chicago area now & have just started to see it sold at the Jewel chain stores. This is the 3rd 12-pack I've bought in the past month (current price: $11.99). All my friends & relatives enjoy drinking it. It goes down well alone & with all kinds of food. Na zdrowie & salud to Indio!

I remember drinking this before I got into craft beer, during trips to Mexico. Then it started showing up on shelves in the states and what can I say? Nostalgia aside, I enjoyed it. For a “dark beer” (back in those days everything was “dark” or “light”, right?) it has a malty profile but manages to stay crisp and finish clean. My best comparison would be a less-sweet Dos XX Amber, something I would drink again in the right context even.
