Can.

A: Grain, with a trace of corn with almost no perceivable hops in the aroma.

A: Light straw color, totally clear with a thinnish, uneven white head.

T: Fairly crisp, light grain, with a bit of corn sweetness, faint hop bitterness on the finish.

M: Light bodied with a lightly watery mouth-feel

O: As a light lager, it's a bit subpar, because the beer lacks much aroma and flavor. However, the lack of hops and overall clean and relatively crisp character, make the beer an excellent platform for creating an “instant gose” with a touch of lime juice and salt, increasing the drink ability considerably.

Straw yellow, the familiar color of shitty AAL beers even when they come from south of the border. But hey, thanks to Tecate, they seem to sponsor cool things like fights and strip clubs. No head. Aroma has that corn and not much else feel to it.

Taste, same thing, lots of water, I can see why so many people who drink this stuff regularly do so with lime and salt. I mean, if you're at a bar or its 1,000 degrees outside, sure. But other than that, seems like just a watery lager kind of beer that doesn't do much in the way of beer ingredients.

Average overall but my favorite in the Mexican lager class. Rarely drink it out of a glass. Usually drink it straight out of the brown qaurt bottle. Color and look are yellow and fizzy. Typical adjunct lager. Smells like an adjuct lager. Taste like white bread with a hint of corn bread. Not bad and goes good on a hot day. Considering its half the price of Corona if youre looking for a mexican lager i find it hard to go wrong with a cold Tecate.

A stale grain flavor, quite sweet with dried corn, a bit of chewy bread, a bit of metallic, a little dose of corn syrup, grass towards the finish.

Offers somewhat more hefty mouthfeel and flavor than other beers in the category.

L: From a can pours brilliant gold with a persistent snow white head. S: Clean grain, some faint herbal, traces of corn. T: Light grains with traces of corn, lightly sweet, hint of hop bitterness at the end. Clean fermentation character. F: Light body with above average carbonation, crisp. O: Somewhat insipid but you can drink a lot of it.

Pours golden with little head. I don't have a great sense of smell and I really didn't get a hint of anything. Taste was surprisingly good when I think of an American Adjunct Beer. I did detect a slight sweetness. Carbonated without being overly so. At $10.99 a 12 pack I don't have any complaints. Good beer for when you got 12 hours of smoking Brisket.

It is really a cheap beer and the Quality is not the best. Again, we could say that it is a lager, nothing Special, same Features than the others one and I find the taste metalic, something unpleasant at the tongue. For example and in my Point of view the negra modelo or bohemia clasica are better one.

The beer is very light with a slight sweet taste of corn, but the bitterness of a lime easily balances this beer out to give it the distinct flavor of a Mexican lager. I consider it a daytime, summer beer. The head is thin, with large bubbles that dissipate quickly. The hue is more of a transparent pale yellow, than light gold with adequate carbonation. However, the taste, smell and feel redeem this beer and put it on par with or better than the much more heavily marketed and thus popular and slightly heavier Corona. I was originally introduced to this beer in a small town outside of Nuevo-Laredo, Mexico many years ago from a distinctly Mexican run-down but quaint "hole in the wall" that only sold Tecate and therefore I have a special fondness for this beer. No matter where I am in the world, if I go to a Tex-Mex or Mexican restaurant for lunch or early dinner, Tecate is my first choice of beer, if the establishment is authentic enough to carry it, as it brings the ambiance of a quaint Northern Mexican village to my dining experience. As such, It automatically makes the food and experience seem much more authentic. This beer goes great with Tex-Mex or popular traditional Mexican dishes and the sweet finish brings out the flavor in traditional Mexican dishes.

Pours a slightly amber hued copper color.

Corn and cereal grains.

Corny and faint malty sweetness.

Light-bodied, high carbonation.

Overall, not much going on with this, but drinkable.

Enjoyed from the bottle via a friend from work---Thanks Kevin.
This decent lager pours a light and clear golden color with a moderate head of white foam that dissipates to a thin ring, light pool, and light lacing after the head dies down rather slowly. Nose is nearly non existent with light sweet notes of subtle honey and light caramel with some herbal grassy notes. Flavors follow with lightly sweet honey malts, subtle bread and corn malt notes, and light grassy notes. Decent mouth feel with a light medium mouth feel and light finish. Decent, and perfect with Mexican food.

Tecate | Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's head is two fingers thick, with lateral lacing, and a clear pale golden body.

Smells like not a whole lot honestly. Just a small touch of must and wet grass clippings.

I taste pretty much the same thing. Its not the worst, but ehh.

The mouthfeel here is smooth and clean. Fair carbonation &quite light.

Overall, I'll give Tecate | Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. a rating of 3.25. Like I said, not horrendous, but not great. Just a Mexican AAL, nothing to write home about IMO.

12 oz can

L: typical adjunct
S: mute with a bit of malty sweetness and corn
T: The sweeter/maltier side of Mexican adjuncts...nothing major, nothing overly offensive
F: decent soda pop style carbonation...does the job

Overall: Between this and Modelo, it's the sweeter of the 2. The bigger problem in South florida is price. 13.99+tax for a 12 pack and the taste is similar to Big Flats (the Walgreens beer selling for 2.99+tax for a 6pack. It is just not an economically viable beer for what it ultimately is.

Another undistinguished brew from South of the Border.

I like the packaging more than the beer. Don't know if the name/artwork is Aztec or something but it is interesting. Nothing remarkable about the beer except it's less flavorful than Bud Light.

This is the one you choose when the choice is this or no beer at all.

A very cheap beer and taste wise you get what you bargain for.... it's a good ol' summer time macro, the budweiser of Mexico perhaps, although I suppose Corona can also serve that label, perhaps Tecate would be the Budweiser of mexico while Corona would be the Miller lite of Mexico? Eh, eitherway a very cheap beer you can get a 12 pack of these babies for under 10 dollars, pretty nice value but don't expect to be trippin' balls after a few brewskies, it's very mild 4.50% abv but really seems less than that. Pours a very light golden color with a pretty sizeable head pour which recedes very fast, there is some lacing on the glass and a very mediocre overall appearance to boot. The motto of this beer which you will see in all of it's ads is "Cerveza con Caracter" which roughly translates to "Beer with Character", I have to imagine that if this is "beer with character" than it's a pretty bland, inexpensive, mediocre looking character who is just oh so fun to hang out with in the Summer time all things considered ;)

Ahhh yes - the AAL. The lighting rod for the one-sided debate of what constitutes awful garbage beer. Light golden body = looks like piss. Light barley and wheat aroma = smells like piss in a cereal box. Corn/cereal taste = wet cardboard. If its ice cold and comes with lime then it tastes fine with your Tex Mex, but we all know that by now. Lower in quality and taste to the more superior mass-produced AAL on the market - Budweiser.

Served vigorously in a seidel, it pours a clear yellow with a one-finger head with some retention.

Smells of faint biscuit, corn. Not very perceptible.

Corn and sweet malts; you can also taste lager flavor. A mild bitterness balances the beer.

Crisp, watery mouthfeel, pleasant carbonation.

The definition of a flat beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Somewhat aggressive pour and very little rocky white head popped up and quickly dissipated. Very clear golden color with nice streaming bubbles.

Smell was just a sweet malt smell with some bready notes.

The taste was a nice balance of the barley and malts sweet with a bit of some burn about mid tongue.

Feel was very clean and somewhat fizzy with the carbonation. Just a bit of stickiness as the beer drops to the back of the throat.

A very easy drinking and refreshing beer that would be a welcome relief to a hot summer day like we get here in Las Vegas. I can see having a few with a nice BBQ!

Tecate, more like Mexican Budweiser. Smells like cooked veggies with some metal thrown in there. Taste is corn with seltzer water. The head seemed to last for a minute or two then it died. There was no lacing left behind. I found this to be better than Corona, but not on the level of Dos Equis; it's in its own class. At 4.5% you could drink a whole lot and not get buzzed.

hot weather beer ... lawnmower beer (and etc etc etc...)
thin, metallic & bland in the mouth and the ABV seems to be very low as I can rip through 8 of these without blinking ...
considering the hot climate where this beer is produced, it's ok ... one shouldn't swill thick heavy hoppy beers in hot oppressive weather ... it'd kill you !
needless to say, Tecate is good with Mexican food / Asian food / light fare ...
ole . salud .

The 5 star rating may be confusing, but compared to other Mexican beers, this deserves 5 stars. If your like me, you like bolder beers. Tecate, bold? I know your thinking, what the hell is wrong with this guy??? But as I mentioned before, I am comparing this to other Mexican beers (Corona, Sol, Modelo, Dos Equis) this is definitely on the bolder side. I can actually taste a little bit of hop. It's watery compared to beers I REALLY enjoy(Dales Pale Ale, Laggunitas Brown Shugga, Starr Hill Northern Lights IPA) but those beers are in a COMPLETELY different category. I love good beer, but I am no beer snob. Most weeks I can't afford the good stuff. So I drink a lot of lower end beer. And as awful as it sounds, I don't think its that bad. I actually enjoy the taste of an AAL. So yes, it gets 5 stars from me, because compared to other Mexican beers this actually tastes like beer.
Look-golden amber, looks good for what it is
Smell-Like a corn adjuncted aal
Taste-typical aal with some citrusy hop, and some sweet grainy malts
Feel-bubbly, smooth, grainy dry finish
Overall-my favorite Mexican cerveza yet!

Can purchased and drank alongside some Mexican food, about the only good way to take this beer down.

It's clear straw yellow, fizzy looking.

Smells like cereal grain, corn, and lager yeast.

This is hardly any good, but it does get the job done. It's crisp, and got a sweet cereal graininess that's not entirely unpleasant, but it's such a non-descript beer that it's hard to say really anything decent about it.

This is light bodied, crisp, like most of the style.

Works well with Mexican food, but not really all that recommended in any other scenario.
