A 500ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2015, so it's a little out of date. Purchased a while back from Waitrose.
A: Poured into a weizen glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden hue with plentiful fine sediment and good carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before collapsing and dissipating.
S: Aroma of fruity yeast esters with hints of banana, bubblegum, clove, spice, faint pear, grain, earthiness and a touch of stewed leaves. Plenty of yeast character on offer - pretty good.
T: Tastes of fruity yeast esters with a lingering dry finish. Notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, spice, mild pear, earthy yeast, grain, subtle malt and stewed leaves/husks. Little bitterness to speak of; a prolongued yeasty character upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with light carbonation and decent body. Could stand to be livelier. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity yeast esters, subtle grain and stewed leaves.
O: Alright, though not a stand-out example of the style. Looks OK but the head disappears far too quickly. The aroma and flavour hit the spot with lots of fruity yeast action; plenty of banana and spice in evidence. So-so body - could be a tad thicker and more carbonated. Decent enough but won't blow your socks off. No need to hunt it down.
