Montucky Cold SnackMontucky Cold Snack
Notes: Montucky Cold Snacks derives its name from the term of endearment for Montana, Montucky. Simply put, it refers to the backwoods and rural areas of the state. Cold Snacks is a tongue and cheek way of referring to beer; i.e. ‘Lets go crack into some Cold Snacks.’

A = Clear, yellow-golden pour, little head
S = Malt stands out, sweet
T = Not well balanced, very malty and sweet, definitely could tell without even tasting it. Finished with a bitter metallic taste.
M = decent amount of carbonation, light
O = Not a huge fan, unfortunately. The label and box were aesthetically pleasing but the beer itself was a letdown. Tastes and feels similar to a Coors. 8% goes back to local causes though!

Barely drinkable. I bought solely for the fact that the company contributes a portion of the sales to charity and I enjoy trying new things. Someone compared it to doors light, but I could actually drink a coors light. I feel like I have to force myself to drink this beer. It’s not balanced right. Too malty for a lager. The aroma doesn’t match the taste. I consider myself to have an eclectic beer personality. I’ll drink just about anything, but stouts. The flavor of this beer is by far the most disappointing. It falls flat on the tongue. They need to take this back to the drawing bored. It’s not even something I’d drink if it was the only thing available. It actually bothered my stomach… I really wanted to like this, but I ended up tossing the whole 12 pack.

Notes via stream of consciousness: I didn't know what this was at first. It says lager right beside "cold snack" but I missed it, and it was sandwiched in the cooler between Four-Loko and other malternatives. A rough pour has brought up[ a generous head of white atop a crystal clear golden body. Unfortunately the head has already fallen but I was kind of expecting that. There's nothing special about the aroma. It smells like an adjunct lager although I though I saw something on the 24-pack case about not using any adjuncts. Of course there's no hops to it so maybe that's what I'm thinking. Beyond the lightly sweet malt there's some apple-like fruitiness from the yeast but that's it. Ahh, no, maybe I'm wrong. It seems like there is a very light smear of some grassy/floral hops to it but they're so minimal they might as well not be there. At least it's clean. OK then, let me give this a taste... well, it tastes exactly as it smells. It's just a lightly sweet malt with an even stronger fruitiness than I thought it would have based on the aroma. It's still in the lager realm, don't get me wrong, but I personally get a lot of it considering how little of anything else is there. No additional hops, which is disappointing. There's a little bit of bitterness to it, but not much. Not much is needed though as it's very light, and although the malt that's there is sweetish there's just not enough of it to need bitterness for balance. In a way that's good because sometimes these kinds of beers can be out of balance but that's not the case here. Unfortunately that leaves it kind of bland. How strong is this? There's nothing on the label. I searched it - 4.1%. It's a light beer with just 102 calories per 12 oz. which makes sense. I'm not sure why they're not pushing that on the label though. It has 4.95g of carbs but I don't know if that's good or bad, and to be honest I couldn't care less. It's light bodied and crisp in the mouth. I guess this is what the kids these days are calling "crushable", but why would you want to? I've always said that there's a time and place for every beer, and this is at least well made, but I'm going to reserve it for a kind of worst case scenario situation like a car broken down near Death Valley or something. I wonder if a 24 oz. can is too big to "shotgun".

Will Big Sky equal big taste? Let's see. A pint can now emptied into a clear glass liter mug begins the doubt. It looks like every other commercially produced American lager. The color is a bright and lightly hued straw-amber and it's practically transparent. There is a white head and it sustains. There's even less to smell than from most adjunct beers. Very little malt and almost no hops nor yeast are there for the nose. The taste approaches annoying, because of what little is there. Yeast seems to be the dominant flavor, although dominant can't possibly apply to any aspect here. There's a vague hop reference and just a little malt, as it's body isn't horrible. But, this is a bad beer.

Can purchased and drank at Savoy Taproom in Albany, NY.

This one pours a clear straw yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like sweet malty grain, corn, honey, with some grassy hop character.

This is pretty much your basic adjunct lager, but it's definitely crisp and mostly free of brewing flaws. There's a corn-like and grainy sweetness, with very little hop character. It's just sweet in a non-offensive way.

I'd want a bit more bitterness to balance things out, but it's still pretty drinkable and crushable (omg).

I like seeing old school lagers like this. It's not perfect by any means, but I'm happy to have tried it.

A very nice lager for a good price. a sweet, fruity, malt smell to it with a bitter aftertaste. Extremely smooth and refreshing. A golden appearance with moderate carbonation.

Look: Clear yellow with a vigorously-forming head that balloons up and slowly craters to a pillow, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Cereal grains, wet straw, a little cut grass, and wafts of cracker-like malt
Taste: Grains, straw, and grass come together upon the initial sip and linger while light malt notes move in and out of frame. A little corn comes into the fold but not too much and closes with grains and straw
Mouthfeel: Light and slightly watery, medium-high carbonation, pretty crisp and clean throughout and on the finish
Overall: This is decent. I’ve seen this for years and never pulled the trigger so finally had to and for an inexpensive macro lager, it’s just fine. Light, quenching, not too much adjunct byproduct noticeable on the flavor/aroma and no off-putting flaws. I could drink a few fishing, golfing, or camping easily

Poured from a large can. Straw in color with a large foamy head. Smells of malt, bread, honey and grain. Flavors of bread, corn and finishes a little empty with an almost metal hint. Kind of tastes and feels like Coors light. Eh

Poured crystal clear pale yellow with a plump white head. Big fruity esters riding the back of macro corn malts in the nose. Taste is much the same only sweeter, only lemon and a touch of herbal hops save to cut a little. Feel is smooth and light, but not very crisp or clean, slight bloating. Paired ok with seafood

As another reviewer said, it’s a more palatable version of a typical macro brew
lager. Sometimes I’m just in the mood for a Bud, and this small market beer is a way more enjoyable brew.

Taste: bright malts, semi crisp super airy mellow finish. Slight sweet caramel malt, mellow nose. Pale gold hue, crystal clear, with white head and not much lace. Light body. A bit thin more me.

There's a certain type of person... they like to do crappy things to people. Later in life they try to incorporate this into a narrative, that they are doing these crappy things for a good cause or because they are owed, etc... You know, people who open a carton of ice cream in a market just to lick it and put it back in the freezer. People who just incrementally make like worse for every one else around them for one reason or another but just cant stop but effuse crap into the world rather than making it a better place by being a better person. Well I guess these A-holes have gotten to together and made a beer to reflect their rancid souls. A beer that gas lights you, rips you off and leaves you high and dry. The can says 8% (goes to whatever) so you think, what a deal, Ill try it. Then you read the fine print. Then you taste it. You have been had. Haha... Well you deserve every word I am going to say about your crap product and the crap type of mind that would crap something like this onto world. Thanks for making this world just a little bit worse. You can all add up your deeds one day and see that as a group, you are worse than Pol Pot or maybe even Hitler and you should rot in hell.

Pale yellow color with quickly evaporating head. Smell is white bread, corn, and a sweetness. This lager leans to the sweet side, with a slight buttery flavor. Green apple as well. Easy to drink and certainly more character than a Budweiser. Not a bad option if you are looking for a macro style lager made by a small brewery.

From a 16oz can:

Appearance: Clear yellow, good head.

Smell: Corny.

Taste: Pretty sweet, sweet corn, pretty light feel even though I don't think it's a light beer.

Overall: I was looking for a cheapo lager for these hot days, Montucky fit the bill. Pretty decent beer if you don't mind corn, easy drinking lager.
