Pours a black color. 2/3 inch head of a tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of slight roasted malt, sweet malt, oatmeal, and dry hops. Fits the style of a Dry Irish Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and creamy, with low carbonation level. There is a slight bitterness from roasted malt. Tastes of sweet malt, strong roasted malt, oatmeal, and a hint of dry hop. Overall, good but very strong roasted malt flavor and too much bitterness.

Dry-Side Stout is medium-bodied, roasty, bitter and dry with strong roasted malt flavors and subtle
caramel notes. This beer is lower in carbon dioxide than Kona Brewing Company's other beers and
dispensed with Nitrogen to enhance its malty texture and round out the roasted flavor. It was named
"Dry-Side" for the dry Kona weather typically enjoyed on the west side of the island and also for the dry
finish of this beer.

"In true Kona Brewing Company BIG Island fashion, Dry-Side Stout is slightly heartier than Guinness
and slightly higher in alcohol when compared to its 'Irish cousin,'" said director of brewery operations
Rich Tucciarone. "Contrary to what people might expect of a warm-weather location, dark beers are
incredibly popular here in Hawaii with both residents and visitors alike. We enjoy the fact that we can
create a broad range of beer styles, ranging in color from pale straw to Dry-Side Stout's black."

Had on tap at the Hawaii Kai location.

Pours a dark black with a good size off-white head. Pretty attractive in the glass.

Aroma is of burnt coffee and roasted malts.

Taste is of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Some sweetness is lingering.

Mouthfeel is rather dry with a medium body and decent cleansing abililty.

Overall, decent drinkability. The strong coffeee flavor might dissuade from drinking too many of these. But, not a bad beer to end the evening with.
