Appearance - Pours a dark cola brown with two finger of mocha tan head.

Smell - cocoa, coffee bean, earthy, leafy, and floral hops, bready malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - cocoa, coffee bean upfront. The earthy, leafy, and floral hops come through next. The bready malts and earthy yeast finish off the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes creamy with the cocoa and coffee bean lingering.

Overall - An easy drinking and flavourful porter. All flavours are spot on and worth a try if you come across this in Hawaii or elsewhere.

Poured dark with single finger head. Coffee smell apparent but not overbearing. Pleasant taste and mouth feel but not surprising or special. Would drink again but not necessarily impressive.

Pipeline Porter brewed by Kona Brewing Co., With a an ABV of 5.30% This American Porter pours from a 12oz glass bottle into a pint beer glass. The color of this Porter is a deep brown color with a thick light brown head. The brew has the look of coffee, not saying that is a bad thing. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with roasted grains and malts, you also pick up on coffee flavors in the smell as well. So far this is a nice inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is Bold with Roasted goodness. You pick up a lot of roasted grains and malts mixed with coffee flavors. This is a good soild Porter, a base Porter if you will, no sweetness to cover up anything. The body of Pipeline Porter is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this American Porter, it has a super nice balance to it. This brew would go nice with dinner of on a cold winter day. The mouth feel is Bold, Rich, Roasted, Clean, smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I am going to give Pipeline Porter a solid 4 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity too. If you are looking for a basic Porter you should look this brew up. Konawing Co., Did a super nice job with this American Porter.

Pipeline Porter | Kona Brewing Co. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head's three fingers thick and light tan, with webbed lacing and a black body,

I smell a pleasing blend of the coffee and roasted malts.

Tastes like lighter coffee with aforementioned malts. Kind of weak IMO.

Medium mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll go ahead and ratw Pipeline Porter | Kona Brewing Co. with a 4

I am picking up on the coffee but it is sort of a mellow coffee it is not too bold in flavor. In addition to, I am picking up on some sweet roasted malts, faint cocoa, faint hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium body. This is an easy drinking coffee porter, there is even a bottled on date on the neck. Cheers! B

An excellent porter. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, caramel. Not a heavy mouthfeel. Light and crisp with a delicious coffee aftertaste. I'm amazed that this great beer was on sale at my local liquor store for under a buck a bottle!

After a few days of drinking this stuff, I have heartburn. It doesn't relax me and it's filling. There was a good reason why this beer was cheap!

Surprisingly flavorful and rich beer, not what I expected from this more laid-back, “local” brewery from the Big Island. Nice rich dark brown, almost black color with just a little head and no real lacing. Smells great, nice rich coffee and a touch of dark chocolate. Tastes similarly, except also with some malt, caramel and a hint of vanilla. Mildly creamy, smooth mouthfeel with a light amount of carbonation and no bitter aftertaste. Well done!

Pours fairly dark. The head is one finger, and off white. The head retention is poor. No lacing on the glass.
The nose is fairly minimal. I just get the slightest coffee aroma. Just the slightest malt aroma.
Taste - jeez. It is complex, but more in a messy way. The coffee is so muted. The malt is strange. The coffee kicks in more on the backside, but it still is a weird favor.
Feel is moderate, to light.
Overall, not too sure about this beer. The flavors just seem too messed up to work together right in my book.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a pint glass

This beer pours very dark brown with some faint garnet highlights coming through when held to the light. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves some nice lacing.

It has a nice coffee and milk chocolate aroma.

The taste is much like the smell. I get coffee flavor with some dark chocolate with a roasted malt and black coffee finish. The taste is not real in your face.

It is kind of light bodied for my preference in porters.

Hell for the price and what you get I cannot complain.

I'm not normally a huge porter fan, but this I like. It has a light taste, not a heavy flavor or texture, and the coffee flavor really pops. Some slight cocoa flavor to it as well that's really nice. Very easy to drink. I think I would be a good dessert beer.

This is a good beer, but I found out that it is brewed in the USA by something called the Craft Brewers Alliance which is 33% own by AB-InBev! That doesn't even qualify them to call themselves "Craft". I will stay away from Kona products from now on even though I like a few of the beers.

Look: Dark brown with a huge tan head on the pour.

Smell: A lot more mild than you'd expect. Typical roast coffee scent with a bit of sweetness and malt, but it's hard to identify. The bouquet isn't as big and bold as other porters.

Taste: The strongest coffee flavor I've ever had in a porter, probably from using actual Kona coffee to brew! Like the nose, the flavor isn't as strong as other porters. Bitterness ghosts in on the back end, but the flavor is predominately roast coffee.

Mouthfeel: Thick but with more carbonation than expected.

Overall: I like it! It's not a very strongly flavored beer, but it's a very interesting one.

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is dark brown, amber edges, head is light tan with fine bubbles and presents at least 1 inch thick and approaches overflow so i quickly took a sip.

Smell is very pleasant medium roast coffee with pleasant nutty and light cocoa notes.

Taste is very similar to the aroma with great medium roast coffee, very typical flavor of tropically based coffees that is quite pronounced and somewhat unique to most other coffee beers; light roasted malt and hints of nutty malt and cocoa.

Mouthfeel is crisp, lightly sharp carbonation, could go for some more sweetness to round out the coffee and porter style combo.

Overall a great coffee beer with unique coffee flavor that is a more moderate roast in flavor providing great nutty and cocoa like notes.

From a 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This nice little porter pours a rich
brownish black with mahogany highlights and a very nice head of light
tan foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin layer, and shows off some
very nice lacing. Nose of dark roasted coffee and moderate notes of
dark chocolate. Flavors follow the nose with a great presentation of
chocolate and dark cocoa notes touched with a hint of cream and
awakened with a sturdy cup of joe. Nice mouth feel; medium body,
medium light carbonation that is just lively enough, and a sweet yet
lightly bitter malt laden with coffee and cocoa.

Overall, a solid little brew.

Very dark brown color with a thin head with short retention.
Aroma with predominant notes of cocoa upfront, cold coffee and mint.
Flavor with notes of homemade coffee, nuts, some citrusy feeling, plums and vanilla. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Light body with appropriate carbonation.
Easy to drink American Porter with not heavily roasted coffee notes. Mild as an American coffee to be drank in large cups. No thrills.

Nice dark brown body. tan head and done lacing doesn't last. smell is pleasant with coffee aroma, not overpowering. Coffee stayed on the taste, along with some bitterness. Felt a little thin and the hops came through late. Not great, but good.

It pours a dark brown and leaves a small tan foamy half inch white head in my nonic. Some light lacing is left trickling down the sides of the glass. The smell has the coffee forward, and hops come forth more so as the beer warms. The taste is bitter because of the coffee and hops, but some malts are noted in the taste. The palate is about a medium with some light harshness on the tongue. It has a dry bitter finish. Overall, this is just a standard American Porter, nothing to get excited about.

Purchased an older 6 pack from my favorite ghetto grocery store for 3.99. Brewed date is 8/13 and today is 2/4. It poured the expected dark brown with a nice tan head The head dissipated quickly with less than average lacing. The smell was almost non-existent but what I did pick up was odd smelling. The porter itself was delicious. It was coffee forward but did not overtake the porter in the background. The mouth retention reminded me of a Starbucks dark roast. I have to admit that I was surprised at how good it was. It feels a little thin but I have to admit i am spoiled by bigger beers. for a 5.3 ABV it had plenty of punch and I really enjoyed it. For a coffee porter it was mission accomplished - in my opinion.

I'm not going to say it was bad, but I have to be the odd man out and say it doesn't totally impress me either. It looks good, smells decent, but the taste was an odd combination for me. Lots of roastiness. I noted coconut and pineapple too. But together it just doesn't do it for me. If it's what's around I'd have it again. I've had way worse, after all, I did drink light pilsner before, LOL! But that was years ago, before discovering the world of craft. Again, this isn't a horrible beer, and the combination may work for you, so I'd say it's worth a try. I just have to rate it about mid range based on my taste.

Poured 12oz bottle into tulip. Very dark mahogany brown with a 1.5 finger creamy tan head that slowly fades into a ring and leaves webbed lacing around the glass. Aroma is big with coffee right away, then some roast malt and chocolates are present, but take a back seat to the coffee. The flavor is strong with bitter coffee, hints of bakers chocolate, roasted malts and faint sweetness round out this delicious beer. A medium creamy feel that is smooth with some carbonation. A very nice coffee porter. I would suspect that it is more impressive on tap.
