Notes / Commercial Description:
Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat Ale. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrus flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Light, golden and clear with a dense creamy foam cap. White bread on the nose with a touch of mineral and just a little raspberry. Taste is light wheat cracker with a honey sweetness and a distinct sweet sour passion fruit aftertaste with floral cherry blossom. Its nice, the fruit isn't overt, but a nice zip at the end that goes well with the wheat. A tangerine home sweetness builds. Unfortunately, an overly sweet syrupy feel from too much unfurmented sugar doesn't work well for me. Its too thick leaving a sticky feel out of balance with the taste. It's a tasty beer, but just a bit cloying.

L: Very traditional golden color. light head that dissipates quickly. Not overly 'wheaty' in appearance.
S: Sweet, fruity smell.
T: Crisp flavor, fruity aftertaste. Again, not overly 'wheaty' in taste.
F: Very light feel overall. Refreshing, but not a tremendous beer experience.
O: I like this beer and I would definitely buy it again, but it is somewhat unremarkable. On a hot day this would be very refreshing and enjoyable, though that could be in part due to the excellent label and branding. Final final thoughts are that this is an extremely drinkable and enjoyable beer, but it is not remarkable. I would recommend it, but don't expect an unforgettable experience out of this beer.

Pours a traditional golden yellow with good foam and minimal lacing. Smells of wheat, fruit, and floral. The taste is very light but good flavors, you get the wheat and tropical fruits up front with a soapy finish that is pretty pleasing. This to me is a very light beer, but not lacking in taste, it is perfect for a hot day or BBQ, my only desire would be a little more depth on the flavors but not bad.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 11/16/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, passion fruit, melon, berry, pineapple, pear, wheat, cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, tropical fruit, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, passion fruit, melon, berry, pineapple, pear, wheat, cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness. Light floral bitterness and slight tart/tangy wheat on the finish; lingering notes of lemon, passion fruit, melon, berry, pineapple, pear, wheat, cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of pale malt, tropical fruit, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Light-medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.4%. Overall this is a nice fruited pale wheat ale. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt, tropical fruit, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful, well balanced, and not watery feeling for the ABV. A pleasant and nicely enjoyable offering.

Clear gold, with a slight haze and two fingers of dense white head that leave heavy lacing. Slightly fruity "lager" aroma: sweet bread, floral hops, passion fruit. This continues to the taste, with a not-ideal metallic element added to the mix and lingering light lemon peel and wheat in the aftertaste. Somewhat soft, hefe-like mouthfeel. It's okay.

Sweet, tropical, and obviously a wheat beer, but a good one at that. I can definitely taste the passion fruit and some slight esters as well as the wheat malt.
