Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger dark khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, maple syrup, coffee and cinnamon; smells like breakfast. Flavor follows, with slightly sweet dark toasted malt, maple syrup, cinnamon, drip coffee and a touch of coconut. Maple syrup, coffee and dark malt finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A somewhat maple syrup forward dessert stout that reminds me of one of the "pancake" pastry stouts I've had in the past. Although there a clear notes of maple, it is well supported by the malt and flavors are harmonious. The coffee is rather muted, but leaves coffee character in the finish. Well made, balanced and flavorful. A nice introduction to this East Coast brewery.

This is a very ambitious brew. I am not sure what I paid for it, but I am pretty sure it was a lot. And then the can lists so many ingredients, it has a lot to live up to.

It pours black with little head or lacing. The aroma is a stout punch, you name it, the smell is there. All those ingredients, yup, they are in the smell. The taste encores all that and it is confusing. It really just turns into a sweet mess. It doesn't taste boozy because of all the remaining malt and all those other things.

Not recommended. You can find more interesting huge stouts that are better focused.

Poured moderately hard from a can into a snifter glass, forming a thin bit of head before quickly fading to a ring of lacing. Smell is intense but pleasant, a mixture of maple syrup and cinnamon. Taste is maple syrup forward, with cinnamon coming in second. A bit of coconut as well. Sweet, but not too much. A bit more complex while cold. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Excellent maple syrup and cinnamon flavors, not too boozy but definitely 12% ABV. Glad I got a 4 pack, gives Prairie Ales a run for it's money, and not $9+ for a 12 oz.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a deep, dark brown, almost black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. No real lacing to speak of.

S: A big, powerful aroma of coffee, spices, coconut, malt, maple syrup,c and coconut.

T: Tasted of a fair amount of malt (a subtle presence compared to the other ingredients), lots of coffee (the main attraction), a good shot of coconut), a bit of chocolate (always a good thing), some cinnamon, and a good amount of maple syrup (quite sweet). A robust, complex, and powerful flavor. Delicious.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a super smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A thoroughly enjoyable beer. Drinkable.
