From a 32oz growler, filled at the brewery within the past hour. Served in a willi becher glass.
Pours clear cola-brown with ruby highlights and a big, boisterous three finger tan puffball of a head. Retention is excellent leaving a thick, creamy cap and a tattered curtain of bubbly lacing.
Nose is dry and toasty, with aromas of cocoa powder and fig.
Taste is dry and very mildly bitter. White bread toast and, on alternate sips, either cream soda or Tetley’s tea. Cocoa powder and raisins with a little orange rind and vanilla in the sinuses at an otherwise tongue-scrapingly dry ending.
Feel is clean and dry, fairly light bodied and briskly carbonated.
Overall, a thoroughly serviceable beverage. It’s been on draft at the brewery for a while and it’s what I’ve usually been starting with while reading the menu board.
