Modestman Brewing

 

Nice, spacious (but definitely not in a cozy way), fairly well-equipped brewpub right downtown in Keene. A little barren, dark and pseudo-industrial inside, but that seemed to be the goal. They have a goodly variety of taps, cans to go and merch. Big patio in back in what was once a parking lot with seating. No food but access to food to go from places nearby. The beers I tried ranged from good (NEIIPA) to very good (kölsch) and they had a decent range of styles which was nice to see and worthy of a bump to my Selection score, as I feel like I see that less and less. Good service, good location, great company, good times.

Inside could use a larger variety of seating.

But everything is good. The beer quality, friendly service, selection leans towards hoppy beers but they had a sour, a kolsch and a surprisingly decent table beer on draft.

 

 

Located in a very cool, hip, happening street in downtown Keene, Modestman is worth checking out. While the vibe is more modern - techno / club music playing in the background - it was very clean & hip. Smallish beer selection; seemed mostly sours... but, again, a great location.

 

Can't say enough good things about these guys. I'm from Brooklyn so am pretty accustomed to good brew, but I moved to NH a couple years ago before Modestman opened. When I saw they were opening I thought, "How cute, another shitty local brewery." But after my first beer, wow! I realized they got it nailed. Not a huge selection here, but I don't see that as a minus but a plus. Their DIPAs are world class, seriously. I'd put them up against anyone, even my Bklyn go-to: Other Half. Probably even better then OH, in fact. Only small pick is their DIPAs all kind of blur together, but since they're so damn good I'm not complaining to loudly. Their lighter stuff is all very fine, and they makes some sours that are terrific tho I'm a huge fan of the style. Their saison, which I just tried, was very near a Dupont. Hope these guys make it through the 'rona. They seem to be doing a nice business, and their food truck offerings are quite good. Good work, guys.

 

I've been getting mixed four pack cans from the owners restaurant during the covid-19 shutdown. Unbelievable quality New England IPA's. NH finally relaxed the regulations to allow for outdoor patio style seating which I was able to take advantage of on Memorial day this year, 5/25/20. Rad vibe, took over an old bank location on Main st. In my hometown of Keene NH. Looking forward to more good times to come at this location.update** Fully open with outdoor and indoor seating, food trucks on-site and occasional live music from DUB Apocalypse! MM continues to deliver mind-blowing NE IPA's and fruity sours.
