Laid back atmosphere with comfortable seating, which invites long stays conversing with friends.

Everything is super clean and well cared for. One of the first bars to achieve Tapstar Certification (draft quality excellence).

Knowledgable staff can help newbies find their way or converse with the nerdiest of beer nerds. Always helpful and friednly.

The selection is hands down the best in Kansas City. 24 constantly rotating taps all dedicated to independent craft beer, all hand selected by the owner. About half the list at any time is local, so it’s a great place to check out the best of what KC has to offer. And if you’re not in the mood for beer, they also have about 90 bottles of whiskey to choose from.

Vibe: it plays on the name, with exposed hard wood and wood decoration (oak) and some industrial piping shelving and chair legs (steel). It feels semi-industrial, with a spotless cleanliness. Seating comes by way of the bar (~18 seats), a bar along the front window (~35 seats) and a handful of high-top 6 seater tables. It's well-lit with a slightly warm-tone to the lighting, which is welcome in the dark winter. The entire front wall is windows, allowing natural light to flood the space.

Quality: is very high. Place is spotless and feels well-cared-for. Quality of the selection is fantastic as well.

Service: is very friendly and helpful. They're eager and happy to chat, but also quick to back-off to allow customers to focus on their own friends/group.

Selection: they aim to "have the best tap selection in Kansas City at any time" and it's showing. Tap list is consistently loaded with all sorts of styles and variations, offering up local to regional lagers, IPAs, ambers, and stouts - some of which are barrel aged. Tap list is further supplemented by a bottle/can list for on-site consumption (and can be taken to-go too). During my visit, one could open with a local lager, move to a Belgian Lambic, and finish with a 17% ABV imperial stout. Just tremendous selection. A+.
