Pale, hazy yellow gold in hue with pronounced peachy highlights and a kiss of bronze. The color is attractive and I like the immense haziness of the liquid. The head was white in color, at the apex the foam was a healthy one finger in height, it quickly faded to a soapy cap; that is a bit disappointing. There wasnt much subsequent lacing; that is a shame too. The appearance, on the whole, is pleasant. The nose is a mix of spicy banana and marshmallows, especially upfront. There is a dusting of coriander, sour candy, and very lightly farmy. Bready. Citrus rinds too, they are very mellow. Muted pepper. Overall the potency is moderate. The nose is articulate and it is clearly Belgian, it smells too malty for a Saison. It smells like a Bière de Garde to me. Of course Im splitting hairs. I like what I smell. It is inviting and that is all that matters. The first time I tasted this I was in Des Moines and Ave brought a sample for a beer tasting. I really liked it. Fast-forward about four months and I find myself at the brewpub eyeing a six-pack. Score! This review is based on the second beer from that six-pack. I was letdown by the first one; it wasnt as good as I remembered it. I waited a couple more weeks before I returned to them. It is back to being good (in other words my expectations were in check). The palate is very tasty, richly bready with a kiss of lemon, heavy on yeast. Marshmallows and bananas with a lightly spicy, candyish backdrop; there is even some melons and dried oranges. At times the taste is almost Wit-like. To me the maltiness is too vocal, too rounded, and too sweet to be a Saison. Like I said about the nose, it tastes like a Bière de Garde to me. Im not going to knock the beer, as the line between the two styles is thin to say the least. Regardless, I really like this beer. I dont know the abv (I dont taste any alcohol nor do I feel any) but I could really kick back and drink a few of these. This beer is not on the same level as Fantôme or Dupont. What is? Medium in body, the carbonation is low and relaxing, I find this fitting for this beer. The mouthfeel is lovely, I like the calmness it makes me slowdown and take note of what Im drinking. Drinkable? Yes, very much so. This beer just hits the right notes with me. I really like it, I like better then it tastes. In other words, my beer brain says this beer is good but my tastebuds say, this beer is excellent. Conflicts like this are odd. I listen to my tastebuds, I trust what I taste and Ill defer to the old quaffable factor. This was purchased at the Tap Room in St. Louis as part of a six-pack. Damn good. It is not world class but I like it.

wo inch layer of white foam then came up over the top, settled down to a broken crown and coated the inside of the glass with decent lacing.
The aroma was rather odd, sweet at first but as I really let it explore there were some light fruity notes, maybe peach and pineapple with a biscuit like note, very odd, but also very good. The flavor was more of the same, rich notes of caramel whirled over the tongue and separated into a light and fruity Belgian yeast and a grapefruit and pineapple like floral hoppiness. Strange, but awesome I have to admit. Really quite complex. The flavor took a turn toward the bitter and dried out the palate appropriately, creating a nice dry, and inviting session for the next sip.

Poured from 12oz bottle.
A- Pours a semi hazy golden orange color. Two finger white head that shows medium retention. not a lot of lacing sticks to the sides of the glass making it more spotty than anything else.
S- Lots of juicy fruits in the front of this beer (orange, pear, lemons, apples, and apricots). Yeast notes with slight funk come out next and compliment the fruits. Some light spicing with a almost toasted like base malt. Makes my mouth water to smell this one.
T- Light citrus hops in the front jump around with hints of sweet fruits that I picked up in the aroma. Light funky middle with the toasted malt and spicy yeast coming out. Ending of this is light alcohol flavors that come through with some spicy pepper notes, grassy hops, and a honey like sweetness.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Sweet fruits with light pepper notes and grassy hops left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly sweet alcohol, grassy hops, and honey like flavor. Flavors were well put together for the style. No off flavors at all which I enjoyed. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol.
D- This saison is very drinkable. The ABV is not to high which lets it be a sipper all night. A well put together beer that will make it into my fridge all the time if given the chance.
