Darkness and romance lurk beneath the golden exterior of this ale that combines the prominent flavors and aromas of coffee and the smooth richness of chocolate. We use simple, straightforward malts and hops to keep the focus on the notable characteristics of the featured ingredients. After the beer is fermented, we let it rest on cocoa nibs sourced from Ghana—one of the world’s largest chocolate exporters. In the final stage of production we add a cold coffee toddy made from filtered water and finely ground beans roasted by St. Louis’ own Kaldi’s Coffee and sourced directly from the Shiwanda Estate in Africa’s southeastern Tanzania.

Clear amber/gold color with a modest but lasting off white head an d some bits of decent lacing. The aroma is mild bready malt with hints of cocoa and coffee.
The taste is also bready malt with a mild but definite coffee bitterness and an even milder touch of dark chocolate. The finish is dry with lingering coffee bite and some herbal hops.
The body is medium, moderate carbonation, smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a very pleasant and interesting brew. At first the chocolate and coffee notes seem out of place in what looks like golden ale, but it is subtle and very well balanced, I think I could enjoy this on a regular basis.

12oz can pours a rich golden yellow color with a small head of off-white foam that retreats to a thin ring while leaving small amounts of lacing. The smell is dominated by coffee. Extremely light, ephemeral malt flavor followed by a strong but balanced coffee flavor and a much smaller hint of cacao. Moderate bitterness with a bit of piney flavor. Light body, subtle sweetness, bitter hop-coffee aftertaste, and a sparkling carbonation mouthfeel.
This seemed pretty interesting on the shelf, but I'm not sure Blonde ales are really my thing. The flavor profile was novel, but to be honest I'd rather just drink a coffee stout.

This even-keeled malt/hop fermentation has nearly been perfected what bitterness should taste like. Clear cut that they take their time making this brew.

A - coffee bean and cocoa is moderate but fades. Low malt aroma.
A - gold color probably a little higher srm for American blonde. Mild haze. Low head and retention
T- mild malt with bread notes. Low pepper spice and coffee taste.
MF- medium body with a low tacky feel finishing moderate dry
OI - the use of cocoa and coffee was just right. Not too much or too little. But the blonde base itself was average. Probably could be a cleaner dryer body

Bottled 2/2/16; drank 3/20/16 @ the Yarchives.
Cloudy dull orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; nice, frothy lace.
Trash water, coffee & caramel notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Caramel & creamed coffee flavors up front; trash water notes on the finish. Gross.

12oz, "bottled with love on 12082017". Hazy golden body with a persistent off-white head. Intriguing aroma of pale malt, chocolate, and coffee. A modest meld of chocolate, coffee, grain, toffee, and grassy herbal hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation, finishing well balanced. An easy drinking blonde ale with nice coffee and chocolate additions; worth the try but I can't see myself getting it again.

Love the sweet chocolate and bitter coffee added to a straightforward blonde ale. Dark beer flavors in a light base.
