Bottle dated 3/2017:
Pours a deep brown.mahogany with a little flurry of head that fades fairly quickly to form a creamy thick collar. The collar thins as I drink, leaving an initial sheet of lace from its initial resting place, a few spots further down the glass.

Nose is a nice chocolate fudge note. The nose seems "thick," even, as the stout notes and vanilla join with a certain sweetness that evokes the thought of a fudgey brownie, if not fudge itself. In some whiffs I get a light lactose note. The coffee finally becomes a little more noticeable as the beer warms.

The taste reminds me of the non-coffee Ibex bourbon barrel stout, and that's equally good and not so good. Good in that I like that beer; not so good in that I am not getting the coffee very distinctly. I am guessing a side-by-side would dispel this thought, but on its own, this beer seems light on the highlighted ingredient.

Medium full body, heavier up front and lighter in back. There's a slick and creamy aspect to the front part - like a chocolate pudding (speaking relative, here of course). Deceptively tickling carbonation.

The flavors are chocolate, vanilla, rich brownie initially. Coffee notes come out a little more when warm, just like in the nose. Even once I start noticing this aspect, it is so nicely integrated that I could fall back into thinking it's absent.

Pours jet black with almost no head.
The aroma is dark roast coffee, vanilla, and toffee coming from the bourbon barrel and dark chocolate.
It's very chocolatey with a dark rich coffee flavor that doesn't overwhelm the palate. It then finishes with a big sweetness that just sort of fades away. The barrel plays into this incredible with a balanced vanilla tobacco smoke and gentle boozy warmth.
The mouthfeel is so velvety smooth, it's just absolutely incredible.
Overall, I would keep my eye out for it, it's just an outstanding stout.

A very nicely-balanced BBA coffee stout, in that the coffee possesses earthy, nutty roasted notes with low additional bitterness, while also not attempting to bulldoze the rest of the beer with its intensity. Easy to see the relation to the "regular" BBA stout from the Ibex Cellar released at the same time; they share a similar full body and viscous mouthfeel, with prominent barrel notes and dark chocolate.

Pours medium brown with slight tan head that dissipates quickly into a jet black beer. Black like a dolls eye. Then you smell that amazing high pitched heavy coffee aroma. Great flavor. Even better as it warms. The coffee blends nicely with the barrel evenly and no one component takes over more than the other. Really really nice. Had one bottle of the four pack and am going to immediately have another. Tomorrow I stock up if there is any left at the store. Very tasty.

Pours a deep brown with very little head. Great nose.....solid barrel, vanilla and oak, with some espresso in the background. Balanced taste.....great barrel presence, roast, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, charred oak, and toffee. This is not particularly coffee forward. Feel is on the thinner side for the style with medium carbs. Overall, this is a solid BA stout that would benefit from a heavier body.
