A - pungent citrus aroma, initially strong pineapple and grapefruit, very subtle dank aroma reminding me of CTZ hops, possibly some pink grapefruit and very light grainy notes - nearly perfect IPA aroma

A - Light straw and slightly hazy color, white tightly laced head that dissipates quickly (may have been due to my glass)

F - very light toasted malt with firm but not overpowering bitterness, citrus hops come through at every stage, possibly some light spicy notes, light malt sweetness that borders on honey-like balances hops flavor and bitterness

M - medium-light body with medium carbonation, not astringent, finishes clean and slightly mouth-coating

O - This IPA is a very well-done American IPA that showcases Rahr 2-row malt and Galaxy hops. It is well-balanced and delicious from first sniff to the last drop. Thanks Schlafly's for this one!

A big thanks to DCon for this growler!!
*from notes

Appearance: Pours a really nice amber/copper, with a nice frothy off-white head. Great head retention and lacing; which I was worried i'd be missing since the growler was nearly a week old.

Smell: Really nice notes of citrus and pine, both of which never reach a level of astringency. There's some biscuity and bready malts underneath, but they really just work foundationally for the hops. This is a really great smelling IPA, where it's definitely hop forward, it's still remarkably balanced.

Taste: More great citrus and pine, along with some grassier hop notes. There's a nice dryness to this beer, and the bitterness is again not astringent or over the top (where we all have periods of needing hop-bombs, a beer like this is an easy drinking treat).

Mouthfeel: For coming from a growler filled over a week ago, this beer still had excellent liveliness. The carbonation was really perfect, making this beer literally feel especially light and not abusive or offensive in the least.

Overall: This was truly an outstanding IPA, and one which I would love to have again. In the arena of balanced ipa's there are few that rival the synchronicity and dynamism of this beer; and I think this beer pays homage to the mantra "less is more." Thanks again David!

750 ml bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. Very light golden colored body that appears highly carbonated; lots of bubbles in the pour and sticking to the glass. Large three-finger white head that settles into a nice cap and leaves sticky lacing all down the glass.

The aroma is rich in tropical fruit notes up front. Mango and peach stand out. A bit of lemon zest and grassy notes follow. Only the slightest note of sweet bready malt in the finish.

Very tasty indeed. The flavors follow the aroma very closely. Tropical fruit and citrus are dominant and the finish is a slightly bitter grass and pine resin flavor. I get a little sweetness from the malt, but is blends well.

Medium and oily texture in the mouthfeel. Kudos to Schlafly for trying something new with the Galaxy hops from Tasmania and producing a top notch beer. I hope this one gets repeated in the future.

750 mL bottle poured into a tulip.

Pours a crisp golden straw, bright and beautiful, with a large frothy white head.

Nose is full of soft, subdued hops. Grassy, green, vegetal, with bright notes of pithy lemon zest and fleshy under-ripe melon. Maybe a hint of grain in the background, but I wouldn't expect much from an IPA this light in color.

Lighter than expected on the palate. Malt shows up in the flavor of multigrain bread that develops through the duration of the sip. Hops are blended and somewhat indistinct. Finishes with a slight green bitterness that lingers a bit. A bit of lemon, perhaps milky lemon curd or something. Otherwise the hops are soft, but lively and fresh.

Light bodied, mostly soft. Almost watery, but in a pleasant quaffable sort of way. I don't think this is fresh-hopped, but the brightness of the hop variety used makes me start to think otherwise. A nice beer.

A - Poured out a clear, very bubbly, golden orange color with a two-finger, long-lasting head of white foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of tropical fruit like mango and grapefruit. Some sweet caramel notes, too.

T - It tasted of spicy bitterness with tropical fruit flavors - mostly mango with some grapefruit and orange. It had a nice burnt toast malt backbone.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry, clean finish.

O - This is a fantastic IPA. The best of the 20th Anniversary beers from Schlafly.

Poured into a Schlafly pint glass form a 750ml bottle.

A - Pours a very light pale straw golden color with a pillowy white head that has some nice white dense bubbles. Almost whipped cream white. Much lighter color than expected.

S - Citrus notes with some slight grapefruit and tangerine rind. Definitely some pine in there but mostly delicious citrus notes and some slight resin. Quite grassy nose. There is definitely some nice malt grain notes.

T & M - Starts off with some delicious pine and resinous hops. Then there is some nice citrus notes. Particularly grapefruit sweetness as well as some slight tropical notes. Quite light and refreshing. This IPA would be perfect at Busch Stadium. The hops are delicious and they pop but they are also approachable and not too palette destroying. THe malt background actually shines pretty well with some slight bread but mostly some earthy grain notes. Very nice dry and crisp bitter finish that has some slight bitter aftertaste. Very nice light body.

O - This beer holds up pretty well. The appearance is my only major complaint.

pours a crystal clear straw yellow. in fact, it is very macro looking. buuuut the head is huge and frothy with some great lacing and retention.

nose is light variations of citrus and pine. a bit grassy and resin like.

hops are far more alive in the taste. a light dominating bitterness through out. the malt is hidden although a bit of biscuit in there. loads of pine, bitter flower, resin, and earth. faint citrus in the finish.

body is fantastic, light but not watery. the carbonation has enough bite to create the hop flavors and bring them to life.

this is good, honestly, one of the best hoppy beers schlafly has made. i would drink this again and again.

Enjoyed on-tap @ the Schlafly Tap Room in St. Louis, MO for $3 (Special Price due to the 20th Anniversary Party). Tapped from the non-labeled silver handle into a 12oz Snifter Glass.

Aroma- Has a nice floral and "wet-hopped" aroma. A light fruity character pops out as well and seems like its a Belgian IPA more than American. Appropriate aroma.

Appearance- Received with a 1.5 finger head that has great retention! Has a golden, semi-clear body and leaves good lacing all across the glass.

Flavor- Has a very clean and fresh hop flavor from the get-go. Mango then slides over the palate with also a good malt character. Sweet, fruity, and then has a medium bitterness level at the end. Not too overpowering though.

Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied (but on the light side), Medium Carbonation, Smooth, very sweet going down and then leaves light malt/citrus character on the palate. Wish there was more hop here...

Overall Impression- A great IPA to help start out those who don't yet know the style! Very smooth, clean, and fresh all the way through. Get this before its all gone! (I will be picking up a 750mL as well).

Poured from the bottle a bright and clear straw yellow with two fingers of creamy off-white head. Sticky lacing left behind.

Hoppy aroma of grass, pineapple, spicy floral and a whiff of yeast and grainy notes.

The taste is much like the aroma with a bitter grassy bite along with pineapple and floral notes. Bitter bite lingers thru the finish.

Light-to-medium bodied and slightly dry with a sharper carbonation.

The spicy floral notes and the grassy bite made this quite the interesting brew.
