Review from Notes
Visited 2/12/11

I flew in to Lambert Saturday afternoon and hit up the Tap Room straight from the airport. We ended up rolling in around 5ish, and it happened to be during a Fish Fry event that was being held. Even with the event (and the place was absurdly packed, the wait was less than it took us to finish an entire pint. We hit up one of the bars, easily found seats and waited for our table. The building itself has a lot of character, very rustic, all exposed hardwood. It was cozy, but yet had a bit of a factory feel to it. Our waitress was the perfect balance between attentive and not being up your arse, which is difficult given how busy it was to begin with. The food offered here is extrodinarily different than that at the Bottleworks - so if you're looking for some of your favs from bottleworks, don't come here. However, I enjoyed the selection and was amazed to see Poutine on the menu! This is a Canadian app that I've only ever seen offered in Maine, and is a favorite of mine. My dinner companion went for a burger, and I did a soup and salad. The portions were HUGE and I definitely ordered too much. For what we ordered, and what we got, the pricing was great. They had about 8 different beers on tap - one being the Smoked Porter which hadn't been brewed in several years. So we got a growler to go and were very happy with the experience overall.
Schlafly continues to be one of my favorites while in the St. Louis area.

I went in for an early lunch so I'm sure I didn't get the entire "vibe" that everyone else possibly had but the "vibe" at the time was just perfect enough for me to enjoy my AWESOME pretzel app and my hamburger with my AMAZING black IPA.

On a visit to Saint Louis, our friends took us here and it was amazing. I started out with the Raspberry Heffe first and it was a great summer afternoon beer, and then I migrated towards the Stl Brews Saison, which they partnered with the St. Louis Home Brewers Association to come up with this collaboration and it might be the best Saison I have had. The food was great as well, would recommend the Pretzels for an appetizer and the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf Muffin for your entree.

I was glad I was able to stop by during my latest visit to St. Louis.

The Tap Room is large. I headed to the left to the barroom. There is a 20' bar that seats about 10 and there are a ton of high tops and a small lounge area with a couch and comfy chairs. There is also a stage in the barroom and I see they have bands on weekends.

Tile floors, exposed brick, beautiful high wood ceilings, wood beams, arched windows, etc. all add up to an attractive place. Note they also have a small terrace out front.

I like the menu, lots of interesting options. First time I have seen herring in white sauce any place south of MN or WI! My soup was good and the pizza was very good but a touch greasy.

17 house beers on tap during my visit. Wide range of styles. I liked everything I had.

Service was fine, not overly chatty but there when I needed a refill.

Atmosphere is harder to rate. I was there on a Tuesday for happy hour and there was only 3 people in the barroom. Cards were out of town, but still that's not much of a crowd. By 7:15 it started to fill up a bit and by the time I left around 8;30 there was a least 25 people there.

I had the grapefruit IPA and a cask American IPA while here. Both beers were very good. The food was very good. Nice little place that we walked right in and sat down at. The beer was fresh and good. I would recommend this place while in St Louis. Very good service and beers. Pretty good selection as well. I have been a fan of this brewery for a while now and it was nice to be able to visit and taste the beer as fresh as possible. These guys do a very good job.

Just as awesome as the Bottleworks location. The big differences between the two, is that the food menu is slightly different (although many items are very similar) and this location has a few more beers available.
