The Wittmann Urhell pours with a golden yellow color and has a fine-pored, stable head. The aroma is malty, but otherwise quite neutral. In the first sip, you can taste light malt notes, the finish is rather spicy. The carbonation is perfectly done and gives the beer an incomparable drinkability.

Gold in color with with a fingernail of off white on top. Lots of fine sediment suspended within the body. The aroma is of light grains and a suggestion of grassy hops. I’m tasting light grains. The body is light and easygoing.

November 10th, 2016 - Another entry from my Costco beer advent calendar, this Wittman Urhell is a nice, spritzy and lighter beer. It is nicely tuned of summer with its invigorating mouthfeel, the acidity and a hint of lime. It would cut nicely through the steam and heat of the summer and give a refreshing, citrus and lemony bite. But even in November it's nice, even if the beer feels like the most active part of a season that is trying to settle into a winter slumber.

Picked up as part of the Costco Advent pack on 10-9-21 for $59.99. Best by 2023/05; consumed 3-9-22.

Beer poured a golden with a nice white head.

Nose is biscuity forward and grassy hops.

Taste is a biscuity forward malt base and has a nice complementary grassy hop that balances the malt base nicely.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and pretty refreshing.

Overall a solid Helles, glad to have tried!

50 cl can
Served in a dimpled beer mug

This beer pours golden and is a little cloudy. It is topped with a fluffy, off-white head that leaves decent lacing.

Not much aroma. I get biscuit and light lemon.

Light white toast flavor with some lemongrass.

Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel

Incredibly easy drinking lager. I could pound a shit ton of these.

Day 21 of the 2021 Costco Beer Advent Calendar. Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours translucent straw with a fluffy white head. Smells of cereal grain, stronger and brighter than most. Tastes of sweet cereal grain, even with a few fruit notes, especially banana. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a good beer.

Look - 21st beer of the 2021 Costco Advent Calendar. Poured into a standard pint glass. Light yellow in color, very slightly cloudy, with a two finger head and very good retention.

Smell - lightly toasted malts with some grassy notes, and not much else.

Taste - light malts come through initially in the taste, with a slightly metallic aftertaste. bitterness is also light. finish remains lightly malty, but otherwise clean.

Feel - light bodied, high carbonation, and on the lower end of the ABV spectrum at 4.9%.

Overall - a clean and fairly light helles. the slightly metallic taste was a but of a turn off, but otherwise not bad.

Poured with a deep, thick head; light straw color. Nose was medium to full and classic helles. Taste was mild with nothing wrong but mostly non-descript. Good balance of malt and hops.

Not sure why this one has a lower score. I think it's more in the middle of the hells in the calendar. Prost!

I got a can of this beer from the Costco Beer advent calendar as the December 21st offering. The beer poured a clear golden with thin white head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had grain and yeast notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and bread. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Has a golden amber color with a .75" head. Rich bready malt aroma with sweet spice and hops in the background.
Malty taste followed by well balanced hops and a touch of spice. Has a nice lacing and good carbonation. Medium mouth feel that coats the mouth. Aftertaste has a peppery spice start that gives way to a sweet finish.

It's the standard pint can emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass exercise. The color of the beer is a faint, bright and translucent. golden amber. Unfortunately, there's not much more to inhale than one gets from an ordinary adjunct American lager. You know, a little yeast, a little malt, a little alcohol and a little hoppiness. But there is a little more to taste, for its credit. The way it goes down, there's a little yeast and alcohol, added with even a little more malt and hop characters. The taste is modestly above most lagers. The taste may not be, but the mouthfeel is way above American lagers in body and smoothness. This is among the best a lager can be. It’s mild in the major taste categories, hops and malt, well balanced and as well-bodied as any lager you'll find. This is worth the try.
