As forewarning I accidentally cellared this for about a year.

The beer pours a dark red, almost opaque, color with lots of carbonation but very light off-white head. Some lacing is present. The nose is a clean, crisp sour cherry aroma. The taste is a rich, honest cherry taste with a sweet malty back to finish the taste. The cherry taste is like the platonic ideal of cough-syrup. The mouth feel is a rich, round and full bodied. It boarders on syrupy but doesn't cross over that bridge.

Splendid! Here goes:

A: Beautiful. Pours a dark but crystal-clear red. The head is large, red, and leaves a lot of lacing. Looks delicious.

S: Scents are of beautiful, fresh cherries and some bready yeast. Rather simple, but it works very well.

T: Follows the nose in terms of the cherries, but also adds other types of fruit, making this a fairly complex beer. Lots of delicious dark fruit, including cherries and raspberries. Also green apple and oaky vanilla. Very syrupy for such a light beer. Wonderful!

F: Great, but maybe too syrupy for some people.

O: Great stuff.

I admired the particular shade of red and light-catching translucence of the pour. As soon as I took a sniff, though, I was transported back to my teenage years, in which Jell-O featured heavily. I don't mean that in a bad way: not being a cherry aficionado, I couldn't identify a "Door County cherry," but I could tell you that this beer smells like Jell-O. Delicious gelatin treats of my youth. I've half a mind to put this in the freezer overnight and see what happens.

Poured from 750ml bottle into glass. No dating information found on bottle.
Ruby red colored body, slightly cloudy. Pinkish white head settles to ring fed by bubbles. Some strings of lacing.
Cherry aroma, complimented by oak barrel.
Sweet and tart cherry taste, joined by green apple, oak, slightly spicy hops, and light malt. Slight vinous wine like aspect.
Medium and syrupy mouth feel. Good carbonation support.
A magnificent fruit beer is expressed here. Cherry is the emphasis but the beer is not too sweet nor too cloying. Beautiful presentation. An excellent use of Door County cherries; the aroma and taste are authentic. More than just cherry juice, and enhanced and balanced by the malts/wheat and hops used in the brewing process.

Intense intense intense cherry flavor. Fruity and sour and medium carbonation. Pours an intense cherry color and tastes relatively light. Might be a little too cloying if I had an entire bottle, but 4-6 ounces is about right.

I'm an unabashed fanboy of New Glarus when it comes to their fruited beers. For me, they consistently nail the best-in-class designation, and this is no different. If you're in the mood for this style of beer, this is your beer. The taste, mouthfeel and body all clearly exceed the low-ABV chassis, which makes the risk v. reward calculus incredibly favorable.

Ruby red pour with a white puffy head tinged with pink. Color is unabashed cherries.

Aroma is like the tart and sweet filling of a cherry pie without any crust or dusting of sugar. Sweet, earthy and tart are the calling cards. Sets the mouth watering.

Taste is right there - sweet and tart cherry puree with a mix of other jammy berries, but it's all balanced by a toasted-cracker malt. It's hard to find but it's there, way more in taste than in smell, which prevents this beer from turning into a puree-parody of a beer.

Light on the palate with a slightly sweet and tart pucker at the end. Beautiful sipper for any time of the year.

L: Ruby/maroon in color with thin head that has all sizes of bubbles. And small bubbles steadily rising from bottom.
S: Big time cherries. Smells like a cherry blow pop tastes.
T: Slight Tart turns into a cherry blow pop. A lot of cherry, without being too much.
F: The carbonation is perfect for the beer and the taste almost makes you feel like you just had cherries.
O: Very good.
