This beer is pretty well carbonated, as I pour it gently it forms a frothy, three finger thick, light brown head. The beer is quite hazy and is a almost purple, deep brown-amber color. The aroma has notes of bubble gum and clove up front, but then moves to a roasted malt note with notes of burnt grain husk. The mix between the two types of aromatics is quite interesting. The taste is lightly sweet up front with a light spritzy note on the palate from the body and carbonation. There are traditional Weizen notes of clove, bubble gum and a bit of banana. There is a bit of tartness to this beer as well, and it is joined in the finish by a lightly astringent roast character. This is quite the tasty tipple; I really like how the dark malt notes of chocolate, toasted biscuits, caramel, spicy grain, and coffee interplay with the traditional yeast character of a Bavarian Hefeweizen.
