Contrary to popular belief, the upper midwest does indeed enjoy a favorable and warm summer- one which demands the taste for lightness, fruitiness and zestiness in the beer that's offered. The brewing hands of New Glarus provides a German-style wheat beer for just the occasion.

Its glowing cylinder of gold carries a boistrous white cap that's fueled by racing streams of carbonation below. Its scent is sweet with fruit and pastry, and then spicy with clove and citrus. Flavors of fresh baking bread, fruit sweetness, honeysuckle and vanilla greet the tongue before the breadth of fruit and spice arrive.

Then the ale explodes with flavor one its bubbly effervescence hits the middle palate. Banana, apple, lemon, pear and papaya all take a candied breadiness with the sugar cookie maltiness holding firm. Both fruit and malt balances with a spicy rebuttal from white pepper, vanilla, paradise seed, coriander and a surprisingly strong juicy fruit bubblegum presence.

Trailing with a spice-forward finish, the bubbles pop off the tongue with a zesty carbonic bite and a pleasant scrubbing effect. Herbal, minty and soft, the vanilla and peppermint character is charming while its bubblegum taste extends past the banana, clove and wheaten sweetness. Soft and spicy with banana bread ultimately frames the beer's flavor profile.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Poured clear until I did the swirl of the bottle and decanted the rest, proper hefe haze with a lacing that won't give up. Phenolic and dough aroma of cloves, yeast, banana taffy, bandaids, bread, and browned apple. So smooth with a crispness that rises up quick and makes this beer really pop. Banana wafer cookies, mild clove, bubble gum, peppercorn, bread crust, nutty yeast, and ripe fruit on the palate. Not a surprise that New Glarus nailed it with this brew.

Pours a cloudy straw color with a foamy white head that, as with many American Hefes, fades fairly fast. Spotty lacing.
The aroma is banana, clove and wheat.
The taste follows, plenty of banana and clove, some crackery wheat and a great finishing snap.
Mouthfeel is really good - medium, creamy and bubbly.
A very refreshing, crisp beer.

Huge initial aroma of bubblegum and banana that settles back to include wheat and light clove. The taste is more subdued and wheat heavy, although the yeast does come through as well. Highly carbonated with a crisp, dry finish that has too much of a wheaty aftertaste to be as clean as desired. Solid overall.

Easy drinking, well made hefe. I am a fan. All the classic aromas and tastes of a goodGerman. Great summer beer. Clove banana and wheat with a nice strong effervescence. A slammer

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall New Glarus Signature Pilsner Glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy yellowish orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big two finger white head that slowly settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A yeasty and bready aroma with a scent of yeast, spice, and dried fruit. Hefeweizen yeast with some hints of clove. Malt hints of wheat, straw, grains, and cracker. Fruit hints of dried banana along with some bubblegum. Also some hints of earthy hops. A very solid wheat aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a yeasty and bready Hefe style taste with notes of yeast, spice, and fruit. Hefeweizen yeast with some notes of clove spice. Malt along with notes of wheat, grains, straw, and cracker. Dried fruit notes of banana along with some bubblegum. Light presence of earthy and floral hops. A very good wheat taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Crisp, clean, and fairly drying.

Overall: A very good Hefeweizen. Good bready malt and banana flavor. Up there with Dancing Man.

Purchased after coming back from Peninsula State Park coming back home. Smell is predominately banana with bread in the background. Nicely carbonated, refreshing. Taste is overall banana, with some bread, mild clove, and there is a sweet aftertaste almost like a gumball hinting at the end. Would be an excellent beer with lighter food or something sweet. Will try it with oranges and lemons next to see what comes out. Overall one of the better New Glarus 12 oz's that I have had. There frombroise type beers are really the best I have ever had.

Damn, this has nearly all the flavor of the much stronger Dancing Man Wheat is a neat, sessionable package. It has the creamy, doughy banana foundation with light spice and a hint of orange. Very very drinkable. I wish I had more.

Pours a hazed gold with mutiple fingers of whippy pearl colored head. Average hed retention & lacing

S: Juicy fruit, a little breadyness

T: A little peppery yeast to go with the nose up front, plus dryness. Dryness, breadyness & green banana peels as this warms. Finishes dry, a liitle fruitty, & a little grassyness, plus more green banana peel

MF: Light/medium yeasty body, subtle carbonation

A nice, easy-drinking Hefe. Well done New Glarus!

I prefer this beer to Dancing Man, however since Dancing Man was not as fresh based upon release date calendar on NG website, age could have changed the flavors. I'm bummed that it will only be released in June and July as it stands now. We'll see. It is refreshing, great favors similar to Paulaner, Konig, or Hacker-Pschorr, but lighter. We loved it for WI vacation in July, and hopefully it will be available in August for our next trip! I was very apprehensive about trying it based upon the label and feared it would be to Bubble Gummy...plus Husband would say "what's this?". He liked it a lot too and had no problem with the pink and orange label!

A really easy going weizen of the more the bubblegummy variety as opposed to clove and banana, although there is bit of banana on the palate. Juicy fruit gum aroma. Finish is a bit sweet, but the sweetness fades quickly, then leaves a sort of vanilla slickness with some dryness.

8/1...pours hazy gold, light colored, foamy white top. Wheaty nose, ever so slight pepper. Straws and grains. Full smooth wheaty taste. Very minor citrus tart. Mellow, natural. Fast finish. Nice, though not the best product to come from NGBC.
