This was fantastic. Really drinkable, especially for the style. Very tart and crisp. If available, I would drink this often. There's some sweetness to balance out the sour and it finishes relatively dry.

Holy hell is this good. Fell in love with Cran-bic, but I might just like this better. Poured dark brown with a red hue. Bready sour cherry aroma. Has that light "musty" lambic note. Taste is huge cherry, with hints of vanilla and caramel. Good sour bite, but balanced well by the sweet bread yeast taste. Amazing!

If you don't at least love this beer, your tongue is missing.

Thanks Andrew!

Reddish-purple/brown colour, ring of white head, no lace. Smell is cherry and oak with sharp fruit notes, sour berry, vinous-wine like acidity. Taste is a mix of sweet and sour cherries, dry oak, vinous, strong wine like flavours mid palate to finish, a building acidity, fruity, red berries and a dry finish. Med-dry carbonation, medium full body. A nice sour brown, my only objection is that it may be a bit to dry after about half the bottle but that is just a minor complaint really.

I liked this a lot better than their Ohd Bruin.

This is probably one of my favorite beers even though my first chance to try it was just a few months ago.

Pours a hazy brown with little to no head.

Smell: Apples, Cherries, Cinnamon, Leather, and more Fruit.

Taste: Tart, Fruity, Apple Cider, Cherries, Grapes, Leather, and a bit of Oak. Full body, medium carbonation. I would drink this all day if I could.

From: Tenuta's in Kenosha, WI
Date: None on bottle
Glass: Cantillon gueuze glass

Pours a 1cm head of fairly clean, white bubbles, small to medium in size, not particularly compact. Head dissipates quickly, leaving no lacing or residual foam in its wake. The result is a transparent, copperish-red color, with sluggish, but visible, carbonation. Not the best wild ale I've looked at.

Aroma is excellent, of tart cherries, vanilla-soaked-into-grains (think of the vanilla evident in breakfast cereal clusters), sweet-yet-soured grains, marginal balsamic vinegar, the slightest bit of oak, and more tart cherries and other tart fruits. I could blissfully smell this all the time.

Taste is, overall, like an acidic brown-meets-cherry ale: flavor is robust, the acidity is long lasting, as is the cherry, and the vanilla and oak from the aging are there, but decidedly in the background. There's a strange moment where the flavors actually fade out somewhat, leading me to not give this higher points. Tasting opens with tart cherry flavor and a bit of soured grains. Mid-palate increases the tart cherry, adds a bit vanilla and toasted cereal grains, and a dash of ultra-mild vinegar. Back of palate is surprisingly sweet, with cherry and brown malt flavors atop a slightly sour grain base. Aftertaste of mild tart cherries and residual sourness along edges of tongue.

Beer is medium-light in body, with low to medium-low levels of carbonation. Could be more carbonated without ill-effect. The result is a beer with fairly placid tendencies that are relieved by the tartness, which moves this along the palate quite nicely in the end. Closes dry, with lingering acidity in the back of the throat.

Thanks to demcorhip for this Wisconsin rarity. Mahogany/red color, with plenty of haze. There is no head, just scarce, soap-like foam with large bubbles occasionally reaching the surface. A nice bouquet of sweet and sour cherry, woody spice, and apple cinnamon tempt the nose. It smells almost like a fresh cherry pie, though only subtly sweet.

The taste is a bit drying, plenty more cherry and apple fruit spice. There is a light acidity, but it doesn't seem very sour. The flavor is almost suspended between being tart, and sweet, and it lies somewhere in the middle. In the finish I sense a light tang with mild alcohol notes, which doesn't round out the taste very well. Light in body, moderate carbonation.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I hoped. I didn't really know what to expect, and I'm still not sure I fully understand this beer after trying it. I suspect this might be why it's labeled a fruit/vegetable beer as opposed to a sour brown or other style. The flavors are interesting, but don't add up to a winner in my book. I would have enjoyed more tartness and more carbonation on the palate. I have a few bottles and I will be revisiting this one again...

A friend of mine got two of these in a trade. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip.

Pours a murky copper with a tint of red. Not a big head but fizzy bubbles in the beer. Looks like a cherry coke. Smell is similar to a Flemish sour. Fruit and oak with a hint of caramel malt.

I thoroughly enjoy sour beers so was excited to give this a whirl. There is definitely a sour presence but not over powering. Taste is similar to a Flemish sour with a strong cherry presence with a hint of vanilla, most likely from the oak.

I was honestly a little let down by this one. I was under the impression it was going to have a much more "wild" taste to it. Of course we shouldn't go into a beer expecting much of anything, but sometimes it's unavoidable. It was enjoyable for a one time thing, but I won't go out of my way to try and get another one.

Poured a cloudy orangish brown color with quite a bit of light beige head. Smell is a light cherry/fruit smell - fairly pleasant. Taste is fruity but not overpowering. Very smooth drinking beer. Doesn't taste acidic. I could see myself having a few of these. Very good beer overall for the style.
