12 Fluid Ounce Bottle
Served in a New Glarus Glass
Bottled on: November 11th, 2015
Reviewed on January 9th, 2016
Eyes
Poured a dark brown body capped off with a tan head, roughly three fingers deep. Frothy head retention. Decent amount of soapy lacing.
Nose
Iced coffee. Roasted malts. Creamy notes of chocolate added a touch of sweetness. Overall, the aroma seemed a bit tame.
Taste
Roasted malts hit the tongue first. Notes from the coffee quickly broke through. Dark chocolate and a touch of caramel sweetened the roast-heavy flavor profile. Coffee notes peaked in the finish.
Mouth
Exceptionally creamy. Dangerously drinkable. Full-bodied. Moderate/low carbonation.
Overall
Very nice stout. Very nice flavor profile... Having said that, I would have liked a stronger presence of coffee in both the aroma and taste. Extraordinary mouthfeel. Great stout!

Turbidly muddy brown to black with a fizzy tan foam of moderate height that settles to a muffin island and retains as a thick blanket with ridged sheeting.
Tangy cola and light licorice fade into a brown ale-like nutty roast that meets minimal earthy coffee in a medium-light body.
Its filling froth comes to a cotton dry finish before exhaling sassafras and tobacco.
Neither the stout nor the coffee elements are up to par, for me.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Dark brown body with a good tan head. This shrinks to a fat collar and covering, leaving rings of lacing.
Faint aromas of cocoa and coffee.
On tasting, very smooth, even with the obvious roast. Light notes of coffee and chocolate. Faintly sweet.
Mouth above medium, finish a smooth coffee roast.
Overall, another solid well put together beer from New Glarus. Extremely drinkable. Big thanks to son-in-law Greg for bringing an assortment of NG beers back from Wisconsin.

Brown to black with khaki two finger head. Nose is cocoa and coffee. Opens with coffee and cocoa powder that folds to a dark chocolate with a slight roast. Body is light to medium with similar carbonation. Ends dry with lingering thinner chocolate note. Overall a nice standard coffee stout, nothing that’ll blow you away for any reason other than how solid it is. like oak, reliable and solid but not gonna knock your socks off

A good tasting sweet coffee stout. A little thin for the style but very drinkable.

I got a bottle of this beer off the single shelf from the Woodman's in Onalaska, Wisconsin just outside of La Crosse. It poured an opaque dark with very thin off white ring head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had coffee notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with roast coffee presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Dark coffee brown with a light tan head that dissipates within a minute. Smell is salty with burnt caramel and dark chocolate and coffee undertones. Sweet and malty molasses taste followed by a very pronounced freshly ground coffee. Silky smooth mouth feel.
