12 oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- A dark brown with a two finger light tan head.

S- Tart, cherries, some chocolate, roasted malts. Smells like a blend of a Flanders Oud Bruin and a stout.

T- Tart, cherries, brown sugar, some cola like sweetness, some chocolate and roasted malts.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A fun and nicely done fruited stout. As usual New Glarus does a great job with fruits.

Poured into a fancy Teku glass. A light cola brown on the pour. Darker in the glass with a medium tan head. Great lacing in the glass. Bright cherry aroma with faint cola and coffee notes. The taste is quite striking with a deep, rich cherry flavor. The malts come in after the initial taste to provide support and complexity, leaving me with the sensation of a caramel and chocolate-cherry finish. Feel was outstanding. Silky-smooth and medium bodied. Worthy of it's reputation.

Kind of thin. The cherry taste was too dominant. Mix of sweet and sour.

A - Dark body, with red highlights, and a minimal off-white head. Small bubble lined lacing.

S - Quiet, mostly cherry notes, with a bit of cola. But to get much, you really need to dig in deep to find it.

T - Nothing hiding in the flavor, though, with strong cherry fruit. The key here is it is genuine cherry flavor, full fruit. There is a mild malt note below, and a slightly tart finish. As the beer warms, the acidic notes increase, a more lactic yogurt note emerges. Tasty, but different.

M - Prickly on the tongue, a bit sticky.

O - Superb taste, decent feel. As always, New Glarus delivers the goods. Not really a stout, but good nevertheless.

Better than the rating, I think. I'm not a fan of cherries generally, but I heard great things about it and really wanted to try it. Red hues in a dark stout, creamy head and lacing. Strong tart cherry on the nose. Taste is more cherry than stout, which probably brings it down some. Easy drinking, dry, medium body.

Pours a dark reddish-brown with a fluffy off-white head. Tastes like an oud bruin/stout cross with a decent amount of tart cherry flavor. Not as "stout-like" as I expected but overall a very tasty beer.

Thanks to FlintB for this New Glares gem.
Now I don't know how much of a "stout" this is, but she sure is a beauty.
A deep brown tinged amber in the sunlight fills my glass. Beautiful in the sun. Some khaki head, and a most interesting, scattered and layered, lace of silver pearls crawls down the glass. Doesn't look dark enough or deep enough, or chewy enough to be a stout. But sure is pretty.
Smell has a graceful sweet breath. But wow, a mature cherry comes through. Now usually I get a lot of medicinal notes on many a cherry infused beer. No hint of that here. It's deep cherry. Fruity, a bit dark, a little overripe and meaty, and oh so complex. I am intrigued.
Wow, the taste follows gloriously. The rich depth of the fruit plays so well with the malt. Subtle hues of brown bread tussle with stone fruit, plum, fig, and brown sugar. But the fruit is the star. It pushes forward boldly, then retreats to a gentle floral kiss that gives a chance for the yeast and source water to whisper. Inspired.
Feel is admittedly light for a stout. But its feels nearly full enough in the mouth, yet not chewy. Carbonated impeccably to stay active in the mouth.
Overall, slightly out of style in a few ways for a stout, but I cannot mark it down. This hits on so many marks for me. (And for a style I had less than high expectations of). A great beer.

Look - dark amber cheery color. Looks more like a strong ale instead of a stout, only reason for a lower rating
Smell - cherry caramel tartness.
Taste - so tasty, cherry caramel tartness like the smell
Feel - full body like carb
Overall - complex. Sour stouts are so different!!!

Poured only slightly chilled into a 12 oz Nordic glass, not sure when it was bottled. Pours a very dark mahagony with a 2 finger tan head that leaves massive patches of lace behind.

Smell is chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, biscuit, and a little funky champagne.

Taste follows sharpe bitter cherries, vanilla, cocoa, champagne, and plum.

Mouthfeel is a tad watery, enough carbonation, a tad dry, and if you can handle the funk approachable enough.

Overall this isn't my thing normally, but still happy to have tried it and I thank GreenBayBA for this bottle.
