Notes: If you dream of wheat this brew will get your toes tapping. Since 1995 we have brewed Bavarian style wheat beers exclusively for the same great state that grows and malts our own Wisconsin wheat. In a world full of posers this is a true hefe-weizen naturally 100% bottle fermented and hazy.

Expect this beer to cascade effervescent into your glass. The rich spicy clove and cinnamon notes will greet your nose while sweet fruit and wheat kisses your lips.

Lick the foam from your mouth and admit sometimes you just gotta get up and dance.

This is a 12oz. bottle poured into a 20oz. weizen glass. It filled the glass to the the top with a pure white three finger pillow of foam. After several minutes the foam settled back to a thin layer with nice lacing on the side of the glass, The beer is a hazy orange with a medium carbonation, small but a steady line of bubbles.
The smell is mostly a very nice banana - bubble gum aroma.
The taste follows the nose, banana, bubble gum,, some clove, wheat, cinnamon, & pepper.
The feel is slightly creamy, I'm surprised, I don't really feel the carbonation at all.
This is a fairly high octane at 7.2%, it may take a couple of sessions to put this sixer away. This is a very good Hefe, the taste, the look, very smooth given the high ABV. I will need to sample this one with it's German brothers and do more comparing!

A 12 fl oz bottle with no clear bottled on or best before date. Poured into a Riedel weizen glass.

Appearance: A hazy dark straw orange colour with a big three finger white head that had good retention but left only slight lacing.

Aroma: Nice wheat, banana, clove, banana bread and bubblegum.

Taste: Much like the aroma, there’s wheat, banana, clove and bubblegum with a hint of fuzzy peach and cinnamon.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Maybe I had too high hopes to start with, but it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. I much preferred Bubbler over Dancing Man Wheat, maybe it was the cinnamon spices at the end. Having said that, it’s not bad and still definitely drinkable.

One of, if not the best hefeweizens on the market. The extremely limited distribution of this beer makes it that much better when it does come around. Pour it right, enjoy it slowly and you'll find this to be a great experience. Don't be an idiot, drink this beer.

It pours a hazy straw yellow with a huge white head that stays. The smell is a little banana to it and a wheat aroma also. The taste is very much wheat with some sweetness from banana. It has a medium body with plenty of carbonation. A little lacking on the banana flavor but still good.

Dancing Man pours a hazy golden color with a fluffy head of 1 finger, decorating my glass nicely.

I'm getting a largely floral aroma with hints of bubble gum and clove.

Flavor is just awesome, what a great plethora of bubble gum, clove, strawberry-banana milkshake, and wheat malt.

Crisp profile with a semi dry finish. Very crisp.

Overall this beer is absolutely fantastic. Definitely seek it out.

12 oz bottle, thanks bro- Pours very hazy golden with a large white head that retains. Aroma is flat out banana esters, yeasty, a bit peppery. The taste is yeasty, banana, a bit of tropical fruits, mango or orange, a bit funky actually, dry lightly bitter finish, warming alcohol feeling, which seems odd for the style. Still, yummy!

I've looked forward to picking up this Hefe for a few years after reading the reviews on BA. Maybe its the hype or anticipation for cracking open this Hefe that left me wanting, it lacked the hard hitting flavors and spicy pop that I'm expecting in in this style. I poured into a weizen glass and was happy with the nice head that wafted a banana aroma, there was no aroma of clove or any other spice. The flavor was closer to the fruity banana with a very slight hint of clove and none of the bubblegum or cinnamon that I expect.
Is it worth it.... yes. But not a go to Hefe as I've found better locally, than having to travel four hours into Wisconsin and find this from New Glarus.

12 oz. bottle. Hazy orange. Big white head. Smells of clove, banana, wheat, bubblegum, and a little fruity yeastiness. Tastes much more wheaty. Banana. Spicy clove in the back end. A little bubblegum in the finish with sweet banana fruitiness lingering. High carbonation. Medium body. I don't drink a lot of hefes, so I don't have a lot of comparison knowledge, but I'm really impressed.

I look forward to this beer every year. The mouthful is incredible. There is so much flavor going on compared to other hefes. Banana dominates with a hint of citrus and clove. One of the absolute best of the style.

Poured into a snifter glass.
A: Pours a cloudy orange with a thick head that diminishes quickly leaving slight lacing and a thin skim of head.
S: Smells mainly of bananas and clove with a subtle fruit and wheat fragrance. Medium carbonation, delightful.
T: Banana bomb with a bubble gum hint in the back end. Some boozy notes but very mild considering the high ABV. This beer is delicious!
M: Very nice medium carbonation with a smooth, creamy feel. It goes down a little to easy.
O: This is probably my favorite American hefe-weizen and will certainly be a go to beer for the short time that it is available. It is unfortunate that it requires a 2 hour round trip from my home in Illinois to Wisconsin to get this but it is definitely worth the trip.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a clear yellow with high carbonation producing a 2-3 inch white frothy head with good retention.
S: Nice banana and clove notes with soft lemon and orange to add a bit of zest.
T: Banana, clove, soft lemon, earthy minerals, cinnamon, and a hint of white pepper and orange.
M: Light body. Nice effervescence from the high carbonation. Refreshing with mild fruit sweetness. Lingers a bit on the palate too. Only after finishing this review do I realize that this is 7.2%...absolute craziness! I would have guessed about 5%.
D: Highly drinkable and an exceptional example of style. This one should be in your summer rotation! Wonderful on its own or with food...very versatile.

Pours a cloudy orange with a huge foamy head that never completely leaves. Lacing is thick.

Smells of bubblegum, bananas, oranges, spices, and of course wheat. A bit of booze in the smell.

Taste follows the nose. Bananas, bread, yeast, and spices. Just a touch of bitterness on the finish but very malty overall.

Very creamy and heavy feel. Just a hint of warming from alcohol but tastes like less than 7.2% ABV.

Overall a fantastic beer. I do not have much experience with Hefeweizens but this is one of my favorite beers from New Glarus. Rich, creamy, and delicious.

My local, in-person trader, tone77, brought one of these back for me from a recent work trip. Yeah, it may be another bottle, but there are times when I will make allowances and this is one of them.

From the bottle: "If you dream of wheat this beer will get your toes tapping. [undersigned] Daniel & Deborah Carey".

Following the Pop! of the cap, even a moderate pour was bringing forth a lot of foam. I finally gave up to let it settle into two-plus fingers of dense, eggnog-colored head with great retention. Color was a cloudy solid-Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was spicier than many in the style, but I still felt like I was getting a lot of pink bubble gum. Mouthfeel was big and full, very unusual for the style. The taste was actually quite spicy and it instantly won me over. The clove and cinnamon flavors completely outstripped the usual bubble gum and banana suspects. I could really get behind this one! Finish was dry, partially because of the spiciness, but also thanks to the hard work of the yeast.

Poured into a Double Barley can-shaped glass. Bottleneck says 0556.

A- Pours a semi-hazy medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Invigorating aroma of rich Hefe yeast brings to mind fresh banana, bubble gum and clove.

T- Tons more banana, so intense that it's like banana taffy. Then there's more bubble gum and spice. So easy to drink for the ABV.

M- Creamy and slick with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- A total banana bomb and in a great way. Tons of fruity esters from the yeast while still maintaining a decent balance with the alcohol. Super tasty.

Good body smooth, creamy, great head, no strong banana taste but something of a flower aromatic not nearly like a Hoppy beer more like a sour without the sour. I liked it.

Pours a huge head of 3-4 fingers depth, eggshell white with a smooth surface and admirable density, retention is very good, the lacing forms broad sheets which cover the glass side but lacks stick and slides off downwards. Shiny yellow to orange hued liquid, faint haze, the bubbles are dispersed and quite large in size. Unassumingly pungent nose of clove, ginger, banana, bubblegum and white pepper, leesy with a nice bracing blow of grass and wheat chaff, needs to warm to get additional cherry and apricot fruit scents. Medium-bodied with a clingy texture which increases its mouth presence, the carbonation starts off more prickly yet turns softer by the finish. Spicier here, more peppercorns and cumin like spice to match the clove. The banana and bubblegum step back so it’s fresher and not as sweet as expected. This impression aided by notes of tar and charcoal, not quite bitter but more on the “earthy” spectrum. Lightly herbaceous at the end, not getting a particularly strong wheat infusion. It’s not “textbook” but clearly respects, if not reveres, the beer category and puts a personal twist to it. Well-integrated and the constituent parts work in concert.

I think this is about as perfect as a Hefeweizen can be brewed. It hits on all the wonderful notes of the ingredients it uses.

Look: Bright golden color, hazy, pours with a lot of head that lingers.
Smell - Spicy! Cloves, pepper. Perhaps a touch of fruitiness.
Taste - Mmmm. Bananas, heavy cloves, a touch of spices like cinnamon or pepper, wheat.
Feel - Carbonation level is really nice for this beer. Stays throughout.

Absolutely love this beer and would drink it any time.

Into a wheat glass, a little haze, a beautiful bright gold with a little tinge of amber somewhere deep in there, and a big foamy three finger white head, with good retention. Very good beer (as NG always is). Nose is superb and rich and full and perfect to style, heavy in the cloves. On taste, cloves and some other spices (cinnamon, orange peel) are pretty strong, and banana is hardly there at all. Body is pretty substantial and satisfying, mouthful is a little heavy, but still crisp.

A - Golden, standard for the style. Pours a tall creamy head - off white. Very opaque. Not much gets through.

S - Citrus up front. Oranges and some lemon. Very good.

T - Wheat hits you in the face and then those oranges on the back end through to the aftertaste. Sensing some "grains of paradise" taste but perhaps it's something else. Very enjoyable.

M - Medium dry. Fairly heavy bodied. Medium carbonation.

O - Very good beer. Not the best wheat beer I've ever had, but it's my favorite style, so there's considerable competition. I'm hung up on the oranges - I'm not sure if I like them, but they add something that sets this apart from others of the style. I'd recommend. It's a solid choice.

Pours a beautifully hazed bright sun golden yellow with a dark orange hue and a two finger head of fluffy white foam.

Big pungent aroma of bananas accompanied by a clove and toasted coconut aroma.

Banana and clove take front and center with a very herbal slight bitterness.

Light-bodied, high carbonation, buttery smooth, crisp.

Overall, a truly fantastic example of the style and overall great beer!

Just picked up a six-pack at my local Trig's Cellar 70. As usual, no bottling code--this one is a spring seasonal, so it's likely not more than three or four months old. Poured at about 50 degrees into a weizen glass.

L: Pours a bright and cloudy apricot with about two inches of fluffy eggshell head that dissipates after a short while down to a moderate film and rings that leaves mild, even lacing on the glass. Substantial visible carbonation present.

S: Lots of clove and banana bread, with notes of cinnamon and underlying ripe melon.A touch of cracker malt and wheat. A lively and extremely inviting bouquet on this one.

T: Cracker and bready malts at outset--quite sweet and a bit tart. The banana bread, clove, and cinnamon notes from the yeast build from the front and into the middle, complementing the malts perfectly. From the front into the middle, and culminating at the back end, is some nice fruit notes of melon and brighter citrus to go along with the banana. The close has a bit of grassy hop astringency and the slightest bitter. Absolutely no clear alcohol coming across. Very tasty hefeweizen.

F: Lighter-bodied--bright, crisp, creamy, and astringent in turns. This one is spot for the style in terms of carbonation. Very easy-drinking for a beer with this high an ABV.

O: While I've had scores of hefeweizens, I'm not a huge fan of the style--that is, I enjoy them a good deal, but this isn't a style I generally seek out. That being said, Dancing Man Wheat is a phenomenal hefeweizen, certainly one of the best American hefes out there. The quality of ingredients absolutely shines through. Well done, New Glarus.

L: Beautiful golden orange with 3 fingers white frothy head. Good lacing all the way down.

S: Smell is fantastic. Bananas dominate the nose, sweet fruits coming through.

T: This is a delicious wheat. Again, getting banana, candied fruits.

F: Nicely carbonated, creaming. Very nice.

O: Hefeweizens were the beers that got me into craft beer, however I have since fallen off drinking them. However, this is a fantastic American made example of a German hefeweizen. If you put this up against some of the best German hefeweizen's, I don't think you would find it too far off. Overall, I was really blown away by this beer. Excellent!
