Noce honey colour. Head is off-white, and somewhat sparse.

Smell is sweet and fruity, full of artificial banana and clove.

Flavour is typical hefe, and done pretty well. The sweetness and a bit of tart is there, the clove is there, the banana too. There's also that citrusy quality. In short, exactly what one would expect.

Liquid is hearty, and the carbonation tight and present. Normally, I don't like higher carbonation...but in this style, it's not a bad thing.

Very nice. An easy drinker. Would make a nice session. Were this available where I live, I would always keep some on hand- in season, of course. :)

Be well

Very clear color for a wheat beer, must be filtered, as it is crystal clear with a very small fast fading head. There is actually no head shortly after the pour. Sweet cloves and smooth banana make this almost smell like a dessert beer. Very malty in body, the smooth, sweet and spicy flavors ride above the base of the beer. Nice and flavorful, good spice in the flavor, fairly rounded off with banana flavor. Grain in the aftertaste, hops are an afterthought. Still good versus the style, I like it, one of the better representations by New Glarus. Mouthfeel is not too carbonated where it detracts from the rounded feel of the beer. An excellent hefe, right up there with some of the best German's. Very nice, New Glarus.

Bright phenols hit you in the nose of this slightly different, seemingly Bavarian-styled hefeweizen. There's loads of bubblegum, spice (clove, black pepper, ), banana, vanilla, and even some plastic (but it's not off-putting). The appearance is typical Bavarian, but the head is more restrained; as is the carbonation level. It's just lightly crisp on the tongue, and it's medium body is surprisingly creamy and smooth across the tongue. The flavor is well-balanced towards wheaty, malty sweetness by an underlying bitterness; and the spicy phenols do their part to balance it as well. It's bubblegum-like upfront, followed by some banana across the middle; and finally, vanilla-ish and then spicy and drying in the end. Very nice indeed! It's rich, satisfying, refreshing, and highly drinkable! Kudos!

This beer poured a hazy peach color with a weak head that rings the beer. I do want more head on my beerthan this one gave. The nose is full of banana and clove. More than I think I have ever found in a hefe. Damn fine nose. The flavor is very strong banana sweetness and wheat malts. The feel is thick and creamy and balnced well. I think this is the feel I want in any hefe. Drinkability is also awesome. One of the better hefes I've had. I can't believe this is made in the US.

Bottle: Poured a dark yellow hazy beer with a medium head with almost no retention. Aroma is a mix of wheat and some spices. Taste is comprised of a very spicy feeling with subtle wheat taste also in the mix. Personally, I prefer my weizen with more wheat then spices with makes them more refreshing then this one. Also, body is average but is greatly lacking carbonation. Not the best of weizen…

This just finished #1 in a blind taste test BigHugey and I did recently with 15 of the top hefe's included...I was a bit surprised at the time but after retasting this today I can see why it finished so high....this is exactly how I like my hefe's to taste, smell, feel...etc...

Hazy golden color with some orange tints...nice white head....Nose is spicy, and clovy with a hint of underlying banana....body is medium..creamy..perfect carbonation....

The flavor is sweeter than the nose would lead you to anticipate...a good banana/vanilla flavor with the cloves now in the background....I love the way this tastes...I should mention there is also a nice refreshing hit of lemongrass deeper into the flavor....I know I'm making this sound like an incredibly complex beer....for a hefe it is...some might get overwhelmed by the sweetness that hits you first, but I love it and there are some other dimensions to this...

Highly drinkable...I'd love to have a keg of this shit...It's no secret New Glarus brews some top notch beers and this might be one of their better ones...I know for me it's probably my favorite beer of their and I like a lot of their products...

Poured a clear copper, until I swirled the remaining yeast from the bottle and poured it in. Yeast sat suspended in the coppery body and turned the beer's appearance a cloudy golden orange. The white creamy head disappeared immediately after the first sip. Aroma consists of banana, wheat malt, cloves and vanilla. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Fresh banana dominates the flavor profile. Wheat malt follows. Yeast adds a spiciness midway through. Banana returns with a sweet vanilla finish. Touch of alcohol lingers toward the back as the beer warms a bit. Another solid offering from New Glarus and a worthy summer brew.

A very solid wheat beer in the Bavarian spirit. Very cloudy, golden yellow in color with fluffy white head. The aroma is spicy clove and vanilla. The medium body holds wheaty flavors, along with clove and vanilla that finishes lightly sweet. This sweet/spicy balance is very summery and refreshing.

Color is the usual pale gold yellow but the cloudyness I expect to see is nearly gone, its lightly hazy and clearish in tone with a fluffy tall white head that fades to a thin ring always present and no real lace sticks at all. Smell is nice and spicy, good sense of dulled lemon and wheatyness, touch of banana with a nice lay of spicy lemon peels and clove. Taste is nearly the same as what comes across in the smell with good amounts of lemon and banana mixed with a wheaty sweetness and frothy texture with a soild clove/peppered spice that sticks with a lingering quality thats a touch souring and spiced of lemon and clove. Feel is close to medium, quite smooth throughout and slides right down making for some good drinkin'. A fairly good, middle of the road hefe that would cover for any hefe fix if needed.

Acquired via trade. Similar to Altenmunster, Oberdorfer etc. Pours a murky dark orange color with a thin off-white head. Citrus and cloves in the aroma. Flavor of pineapple and malt. Very thin and sweet! I'm really not a fan of the style though.

This is an edit on 8-08-04 after this placed #1 out of 15 top notch Hefes in a blind taste test. Strong flavors of banana and vanilla. Big wheat flavors. Refreshing, yet very bold and flavorful in its profile. This is a winner (not meant to be a pun).

This beer is a hazy golden with strong orange tinting. A medium head dissipates quickly. Sweet banana on the nose as well as vanilla a slight pepper-like spiciness. There's a noticeable wheat malt taste and also some subtle spice notes, seems like pepper and clove. Goes down the hatch smoothly. This is a good weizen, but not one of the big hitters.
