Moon Man is a decidedly hoppy Pale Ale and without the attempted balance with crystal malts. Nearly as assertive as an IPA but at Pale Ale strength. A beer after my own heart.

Moon Man starts with a bright copper, deep golden color, foamy white head formation with good retention and lacing. Very clear- makes me wonder how good this beer could be without the filtration.

All citrus up front in the nose. Grapefruit, orange zest, and lighter notes of lemon grass and pine give a crisp and clean depth to the aroma. Light earthy and caramel sweetness lurks behind. Sweet fruity esters give a perfumy alure to the scent.

Flavors are a bit more balanced, giving a light caramel and graham cracker sweetness/breadiness to the malts. But the malt influence is short-lived as the juicy burst of citrus joins the frey. Bitterness dominates the flavors from mid-palate on, while giving light ester-alcohol flavor and light catty notes late. All these give a lot of depth and character to a fairly clean, crisp, and mild-mannered beer.

Mildly creamy and froathy early but quickly fleeting towards a crisp, dry, and hoppy finish. Alcohols and hops insure that the beer leaves nothing left on the palate.

This little beer does a lot. Sessionable, drinkable, and has enough quality, complexity, and zest to keep even the die-hards comming back again and again.

Thanks Cheezdawg!
