You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Don't let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real.

One of my favorite APAs:

A: Poured into a snifter. Nice creamy white head, left good lacing down the glass. Poured a nice golden orange color with some slight haze.

S: Hop forward beer with floral and citrus notes. Slight pungent earthiness too. Some bready malt aroma in there too.

T: Citrus is what I get the most. Oranges and tangerine, with some slight grapefruit too. Some nice malt flavors in the finish.

M: Body is fairly thin and dry. VERY easy drinking, I could drink these all day! Nice carb level to help the hops pop.

O: Like I said above, one of my favorite APAs. Its hop forward for sure, but there's just enough bready malt to keep it balanced and drinkable. Great beer!

look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Bottled June 26th, poured August 27th.

Appearance: A hazy, golden yellow color. A foamy and soapy finger of slightly off-white head floats on top. Looks great after the pour. Not much lacing, but it looks nice in the glass anyway. (4/5)

Smell: Pleasantly hoppy. The first thing I thought of for some reason was cotton candy, though that faded the more I smelled it. Citrus and citrus rind are the big things I pick up, but there's also a pretty significant floral quality coming through as well. Smelling fantastic. (4.5/5)

Taste/feel: This is an awesome beer -- love at first sip, basically. A light prickly carbonation on the front, but then a hefty dose of floral sorts of hops hit the tongue with a little citrus as well. Clean finish with a bit of sweet malt creating a phenomenal balance -- this is neither sweet nor bitter, and it's truly an APA. This tastes like I imagine Two Hearted would taste if it were lower in ABV. As said, slight prickly carbonation at first, and a medium body overall. Very nicely done. (4.5/5, 4.25/5)

My rating may seem excessively high, but considering the style, this is one of the best APA's I've ever had -- right up near the top. For that reason, it gets the rating I'm giving it. If you want a light IPA that doesn't taste like a light IPA, try a Moon Man.
