12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Looks nice in the glass. Medium golden yellow body, very clear. Head quickly diminishes to a broken ring, not much lacing.
Very pleasant aroma, reminds me of a meadow, grassy and floral.
On tasting, clean and crisp. Decent bready malt, hop pokes it's head out later.
Mouth medium, finish clean with a light smooth hop note.
Overall, another well put together beer from New Glarus. Thoughtfully crafted, have to admire a brewery that doesn't put out a new beer every day, but what they do, they do very well.

This is the best lager I have ever had. It's so clean, fresh, crisp. Clear.
I don't rate a lot of beers so I don't have the vernacular to describe this one. However, as soon as the first taste hit my tongue, something shot off deep inside that said "this is the best lager. This is what Budweiser et al. could only dream of being."
Really incredible beer. I don't know that I'd called it a Helles, as it is categorized. But perhaps it is.
Regardless, WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE ONLY AVAILABLE IN WISCONSIN!? :(

A nice lager. Light and clean. Not over powering with the floral aromas and flavor.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium golden color with a strong foamy white head. SRM of 7. (4.00
Aroma: Mild aromas of lemongrass and lemonflower yeast upfront. Then some smooth honey and pale bread malty notes. Hoppy overall.
Flavor: Strong flavors of pale malts and yeast upfront. Grassy and lots of yeast in the middle. Then some lemon after that. A full body with a dry yeasty finish. Some golden honey and bread malts off the end. Balanced finish between the hops and malts.
Feel: Medium-bodied. Strong carbonation and yeast. Finishes clean on the palate. (4.25)
Compared to Paulaner Original Lager 9/26/21: Pours a darker color. Stronger aromas. More lemonflower and lemongrass. Less smooth golden malt. Much more yeast, and dry and crisper.
Compared to Firestone Lager 11/21/21: Pours slightly darker. Milder aromas. More authentic bread and yeast flavors. More authentic flavors and yeast. Otherwise very similar. Winner: Two Women Lager
Compared to Weihenstaphaner Helles 7/28/22: Pours a slightly darker color. Milder aromas. More pale bread, lemonflower. Less earthy and toasty authentic Munich malt.
Compared to Utepils Helles 7/31/22: Pours a similar color. Milder aromas. More smooth white bread and honey. Less earthy bread and yeast. Simpler. Winner: Utepils
Compared to Gold Coin Helles 7/31/22: Pours lighter. Milder. More light pale malts and yeast. Less sweet bread, orange, and honey. Dryer and lighter. Winner: Two Women
Overall: A really good American Helles lager. It's very yeast and hoppy too. A strong clash between the hops and yeast and the smooth malts give it a nice balance. The yeast gives it authentic and complex flavors. Light, but yeasty, full-bodied, and drinks clean.

Drinking from a glass bottle while cooking brats on the grill outside. Yes in Wisconsin. Nice clean crisp summer beer. And you can support an employee owned company. Enjoy.

This one was a gift from my H night husband & wife trivia team in the pre-COVID era. She is originally from Wisconsin & they used to make routine visits, bringing back beer for yours truly. 8=) Ah, how I long for Trivia Nights … Beer will just have to suffice in the interim.
From the Bottle (eek!): “Employee Owned”; “Only In Wisconsin”; "Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men."; "The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing and Weyermann Malting, is unique. As I Pop!ped the cap to begin a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass, I found myself humming “Two Ladies” from the musical, “Cabaret”. It is sung by the EmCee, who is blatantly homosexual, and totally unfitting for this moment, but such is how my mind works. It was fitting to watch it blossom upwards to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention. Color was Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose held a bready maltiness, not as intense as the previous Blue Stallion Dunkel, but still quite bready. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but apropos for a Lager. The taste was rather light & almost unobtrusive with a slight breadiness from the malt. I would have preferred a bit more intensity from it, but stylistically, there was nothing wrong with it. I happily drank it, rejoicing in its semi-sweet, borderline semi-dry finish, but it would not be my first choice from this brewery. YMMV.

12 oz can into a pilsner glass. Clear dark golden color with a small soapy head that quickly receded to a thin film. Vigorous carbonation bubbling up from the bottom. Smell is doughy malt and floral hops, hard to discern much more nuance beyond that. Hop bitterness hits you harder on the palate than the nose would suggest, almost more Pilsner than Helles. Very pleasant, easy-drinking, medium mouthfeel and carbonation. A refreshing, quenching, summer session beer.

Pours an almost amber dark good with a white head that eventually settles down to about a 1/8th of an inch thick. Smells like wetter grains with hints of bitterness behind it. Taste is dominated by slightly sweet malts that's balanced out by a nice floral and herbal slightly bitter finish. The beer has very fine bubbles that perfectly cost your tongue with a delicate prickly feeling that is awesome. It goes down incredibly smoothly and is overall a very good beer.

Bottle reads 'J250'
Pours a beautifully clear, deep golden body topped with 2.5 fingers of rich, white foam; solid head retention leaves a creamy-looking half-finger of cap, lightly frothy collar, and a uniform spatter of eclectic, webby lacing dispersed around the glass.
Aromas of grassy hops intermingle with crackery malts upfront as wisps of citric zest fade far into the backdrop effortlessly; a more defined, biscuity middle pronounces, and a rounded dollop of honey eases over the back end for a delicately sweet, balanced close to the bouquet.
Taste brings lightly toasted brown bread accented with grassy hops to open; a vague mineral quality course through the background as honeysuckle develops over the mid-palate; doughy tones on the back end lead to fleeting cereal grain malts on the finish/swallow.
Mouthfeel displays a light body and moderate-high carbonation encouraging a steady, prickly, and malty grit over the palate; a crisp, refreshing, and activated texture maintains over the mid-palate, progressing with moderate dryness to a clean finish with minimal weight.
The simple beauties of a Helles lager amplified with malty robustness and a subtle hop accentuation; comfortably imperfect, this beer shuns outright complexity in favor of a well-defined, sheerly approachable character.

I decided to start drinking a lighter/lager beer due to the summer heat wave here in Wisconsin and pick -up a six pack from Woodmans in Janesville. This beer pours has a golden / copper color and was served in a pint glass. I could smell the malts in the beer and the taste was a well balance with a little bitterness @ the end. Overall I thought this beer was good lager and refreshing.

L: Pretty standard dark gold.
S: A hint bitter sourdough with a touch of sweetness.
T: overall great flavor, nothing stands out too much but it maintains being a flavorful slightly bitter slightly sweet neutral beer.
F: Not too bitter, hydrating, neutral mouth feel.
O: If you are bringing a beer to an event this is a great option, it's a very neutral very drinkable lager that doesn't have super strong hop or grainy flavors while maintaining being a flavorful enjoyable experience.
