Roy's Market - New Glarus

Two Women is a beauty of a beer befitting a gorgeous early summer evening. The coloring runs from polished brass to tarnished copper from the bottom of the pilsner glass to the crown. Clarity is good while an amber hue highlights the body when backlit. Carbonation is active and bubbles cling to nearly every centimeter of the glass before releasing to the pure white, somewhat soapy head. Spots of lacing are left behind after each drink.

Grain leaps from the glass with a clean, semi-sweet, bready character that's freshly baked. The longer Two Women sits in the glass the more robust and doughy it becomes. Hallertau adds a welcoming spice that when combined with the breadiness brings to mind rye. There's also a touch of lemony brightness along the periphery, very faint.

I can't say that the flavor profile shows any surprises the nose hasn't already let me in on. Doughiness abounds, as a matter of fact it's more along the lines of bread that hasn't quite been baked long enough. The hallertau spice is back again running from middle through the swallow while the breadiness is the star. Again, a bright lemon quality weaves throughout the background. Soft herbals enter the fray with warming.

Carbonation is crisp and zesty with a tongue scrubbing sensation. The weight is just short of medium but the carbonation makes it feel even lighter. A soft bitterness washes over the tongue just before the drying finish. The drinkability is way up there.

Two Women is a really well crafted beer. It's straightforward, satisfying, and off the charts drinkable. Clean and crisp. This is a beer I find myself buying each and every time I head up north.
