Frothy and close to two finger head of off-white foam, retention is about average and lacing has better stick than expected, sinewy streaks. Deep coppery orange color, closer to brown than red, the bubbles tend to be fat and more scattered than in beads. Crisp, fresh nose of hard caramel candy, milk chocolate powder, challah bread and glazed nuts, never too sweet and a few grassy notes stiffen it well, murmur of apple and apricot fruit scents. Medium-bodied, good firmness and here too freshness trumps sweetness. Mineral water, orange zest, white pepper and unprocessed grains stand up to the caramel, honey and graham cracker to pie crust components. Carbonation pulsates well and favors the drier parts. Not particularly fruity, same white pit fruit, apple to pear as found in the nose. No real hoppiness here yet never seems to slouch. Not a lot of stuffing to it and one has to assume that was the point, a traditional and “sessionable” take on the style. As such, have to consider this a food beer and not a heavy sipper on its own. Can see some loving it, some not so much.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into dimpled mug, best before 1/9/2017. Pours slighjtly hazy orange/light copper color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of bread dough, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/caramel/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big bread dough, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/caramel/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Minimal herbal, grassy, spicy hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of bread dough, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/caramel/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.25%. Overall this is a delicious Oktoberfest style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Nothing but rich and clean Pils/Munich malt flavors, with just enough hops to balance the sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottle pour to shaker, clear light copper color, slightly off-white dense head, good retention and some lacing. Mainly malt nose that is not too heavy. Biscuit malt balanced with light hop profile. Crisp feel and average carbonation.

Great looking beer, pouring a clear copper, with minimal head but definite lacing. Nose is slightly soapy, with bread and minerality. Taste is superb, dark bread and a touch of caramel. Feel is clean. Very nice.

Pours an amber color with a white head. Has a sweet malty smell. Taste is very sweet, due to very strong carmel presence. Very malty. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Overall sweeter than most Oktoberfests, and I like it for that.

2017 'Staghorn Octoberfest Beer'.
Poured from a 12oz bottle into glass.
Amber body, pour resulted in frothy slightly off white head which dissipated quickly. Clear, with carbonation.
Subdued aroma of malt and spices.
Taste of malt, slight caramel, and trace of spices. Bitterness at the end.
Thin, lager mouthfeel.
A solid fall festival beer, but others I have tried this fall are rated higher.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Orange with a one-finger head
S: Pleasant roasted malt, grains, and some baking spice
T: Lots of grains up front, pleasant malt/caramel on the midpalate and a coriander/grain finish
M: Medium-bodied, light carbonation
O: Solid beer. I'd love a kiss of hops but overall it fits the style well

Pleasant aroma, malty, hints of spice, perhaps some grass. Nor too strong. Clear amber, lots of bubbles, a medium creamy-appearing off-white, slightly tan head, dropping fairly quickly to a bubbly cap with some thick lacing. Good body and mouth feel. Taste is all malts, bready and hints of spice, relatively simple, not sweet, with only a little bittering in the middle through to the finish. This keeps the taste balanced and makes the finish not all malty sticky. Moderately clean finish. I like the taste of this beer a lot, but it could use a just bit more balance from the hops.

Pours a deep coppery color with some foamy head that sticks a bit.

The smell seems pretty subdued to me, obviously malt dominant, but nothing to really characterize. Bready, maybe a faint hint of spice, some caramel sweetness.

The taste is good, but also seems to be lacking some depth. Clean flavors, bready, just a little spice, and caramel sweetness. Only a mild bitterness in the background.

The feel doesn't seem to be robust enough for the style. It seems on the thinner side, but it does drink clean.

It is an OK beer, but it just seems to be lacking something.
