Notes / Commercial Description:
Pure and crisp this is a beer with nothing to hide. Wisconsin two-row barley malt ensures a mellow and smooth body. We imported Noble Hop varieties from Germany and the Czech Republic to ensure a fine mature aroma with no coarse bitterness.

Pours a very brilliant straw blonde with a rocky white head. Moderate retention with no lace. Smells like bready malts and earthy hops. Flavour is intially bready with a grassy, hay like hop flavour coming through in the middle and then finally sweet. A little flabby. Carbonation is rather mild for a lager of this type and the mouthfeel is a little to full. Not a bad beer and really easy to drink. I would have liked it a little drier and lighter on the palate.

Poured this into a conical pint. The color was a very clear pale gold, with a large foamy white head resting comfortably on top. This brew left excellent lacing after each sip. Perfect lines along the edge as if glued onto the glass. Very good appearance.

The smell was a nice pick-me-up. Very fresh and sweet. Nothing sour about this one. Smelled some corn, but mostly the malt strength pulling through, with some honey overtones.

The taste was a bit average. Very much a lager, albeit a refreshing lager. Crisp a clean, with a decent amount of carbonation.

This brew is quite drinkable as it is very light with low bitterness. I could easily drink these for refreshment, but also to pair with some simple and/or very complex dishes.

Got this one from Monsone in the Brews n' Books BIF!

Pours a clear yellowish color, nice size soapy white head fades into a thin ring around the beer, lots of clingy lacing, and lots of tiny bubbles rising lazily to the surface. Bit of a generic beery smell, some slight bready aromas, and lemon. Taste really impressed me....super-clean and crisp, a lemony zing, gentle grass hop taste, and a slight lingering sweetness. Very refreshing, perfect for the summertime...this would be a no-brainer at a cookout, and drinkability is completely off the charts.

Look: Poured 12 oz bottle into mug. Fast pour, quick carbonation. Two fingers of foam which stay with the beer. Bright golden color.

Smell: Malty, malts and hops, nothing much else.

Taste: WOW! All you taste is very simple: malts and hops. Great really unique.

Mouthfeel: The malts and hops stay in your mouth, nothing offensive.

Drink: Probably the best drinkability that New Glarus has to offer. Smooth, open up, drink, and its gone in a flash. Great summer beer.

A- Pours a 2 finger soapy head that recedes into a thin cap leaving some light lacing. The body is clear yellow and contains just a touch of sediment.

S- Very nice grainy lemon notes with some light hops in the background. Very summer like.

T- Light citrus hits the palate in an oh-so-refreshing way giving way to a dry finish with a light hop oil note. Simple but, damn it's refreshing.

M- Light carbonation works surprisingly better than I thought it would. Nice finish on the beer as well.

D- This could easily be my new session beer but to bad my state can't get it. Very thirst quenching beer that can be very appealing to even the swill drinking crowd.

Naked couldn't be more accurate. This beer stands before honest and unassuming. It's a clear balanced german pilsner, crisp with a cleansing, yet refreshing hop profile. The head is white and tall and leaves an intricite lacing. The body is crystal clear with a slightly sweet malt start, cracker like finnish, with a good balance of hops. It's truly a basic beer. A starting point, an introduction. Good with anything basic, for me thats mac, red beans with butter and pepper.

Poured into a pint glass, this brew is a nice golden color with a moderate white color head that leaves minimal lacing. The brew has a mild aroma, slight hops smell with some hints of yeast. The taste is, well...clean. Best way to put it. Nothing too over the top, there is a mild hop after taste. Light carbonation makes this thin body brew nice for multiple bottles on a warm summer day/night.

This beer pours a pronounced sparkling gold. Small head but it laces all over the glass.

Smells like cut grass, hay, lemon zest; very summery. Sweetness is obvious. A bit like white wine.

Taste is clean and a bit watery but refreshing. I think that's the angle. This mops the floor with any other macro in taste but it's very similar at the same time.

Mouthfeel is light and watery. So what? That doesn't mean it's a bad beer.

Drinkability is off the charts.

A- Bright clear gold, one finger head.

S- Basic grainy malt aroma with noble hop undertones.

T- Slight malt sweetness up front fades off to a very subtle and delicate noble hop finish.

M- Smooth, low carbonation.

D- This goes down waaay better than BMC.

This beer delivers what it promises, a good, clean, basic beer. Sometimes, thats all you want.

Light gold with a big head and lots of lacing. The nose is pretty weak with some grassiness.

The taste is pretty bland. Maybe they're shooting for a Miller clone here to wean people off the macros, and I guess if that's the goal, it's an admirable one. All the same, this tastes like a macro. Comparing to others of the style, it doesn't come out badly; it's crisp and clean. I just don't see myself wanting to drink any more of it.

Bright, clear, light gold with a fuzzy lid of pure white. Super-light nose contains some lightly sweet and lemony malt with a touch of cornish grains and herbal hops. Flavor is the same but a bit stronger. Light bodied with a decent feel to it. Totally Naked seemed very mediocre to me.

Thanks to flyingbison for this one.

12 oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

Pours a clear light golden hue with a puffy one finger white head that dies down to a thin layer of bubbles. Some stickiness is left on the sides of the glass, but not much. Smell is big noble hops, grains, and lemongrass. Sweet candy sugar and malty goodness in the nose as well. A nice summer aroma with this one. Light and crisp noble hops with sweet grains and fresh cut grass. Creamy sweet malts with a touch of lemon towards the end. Light fluffy body with a smooth feel and subtle carbonation. Very enjoyable beer for the season. Luckily I have one bottle left, but I know it won't last long. A six pack of this stuff would be a staple in my fridge during the summer if possible. Hey New Glarus, how about you distribute in CNY...please?

A: On tap, at the Wausau Mine Company. Crystal clear, golden, lack of head.

S: Faint malt, earthy.

T: Light. A bit of malt, slight hint of hops. Almost a "corny" Busch beer-like taste.

M/D: Big carbonation. Low ABV makes it an easy drinker. Would be a perfect gateway beer for BMC freaks, I would guess this is what NG was trying for.

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a standard pint.

Pours a very pale straw with active carbonation raising the sides of the glass. Very thin head that settles to a small cap. Leaves some lace on the glass.

Nose is light malt with a tinge of hops. Not much to the nose here, a little disappointing.

Flavor is sweet and almost corny. Hops taste like they are slightly light struck. Very grainy aftertaste. Clean, but metallic and slightly musty.

Mouthfeel is thin and bubbly.

Drinkabikility is average.

A disappointment IMO from Dan Carey and New Glarus. I am hoping he was trying to reach the "average" beer drinker with this brew.

Small capped bottle poured into a pint.

Bright yellow, quite clear, with a thin white head that drops fast but leaves a nice collar all the way down.
Aroma is grainy, earthy and malty, which opens up to a crisp, refreshing beer that goes well in a sunny day but has very little complexity, showing mostly a grainy taste that is a bit on the sweet side.

Pours a crystal clear macro yellow with no head and no lacing. Lots of carbonation bubbles rising to the top, but just can't seem to foam anything up. Smell is of cereal grains, delicate fruit, and is slightly spicy. The taste is certainly "naked" as the name would imply. Mostly pale malts, light hop background, very grainy, and slightly dry. Smooth mouthfeel, leaning towards crisp. A good summer beer that's easy to drink.

This beer is totally naked as advertised and also quite good. Appearance is a bit above average, no real head or lacing, but the cleanest looking beer I have ever seen.
Smell and taste are as advertised, two rows of mild malt in order to keep bitterness to a minimum. Very pure tasting, but since there is no complexity I can't go any higher.
Mouthfeel was on par for the style.
Drinkability is exceptional.

Can't say much about the appearance, drank from the bottle (its a party). New Glarus usually has nice simple artwork on their bottle, but this is no frills stuff. Smells a tiny bit of grain and malts. Taste is a simple straight up lager--nothing stands out, but nothing is really wrong either. Not too light, not too heavy. Fairly carbonated. Easy to drink, but not very compelling to drink.

If you want a simple summer beer that won't scare people away, this is certainly better than american macro-lagers. You get simple flavors without the defects of cheap crap beer. Not bad, but not real good either.

12 oz bottle poured into a pilsener glass. pours a crystal clear straw color with four fingers of tight white head after a hard pour. light lacings.

aroma is lightly sweet, mainly of pale malts with a bit of citrus mixed in the background. very simple in profile.

taste is light, with mildly sweet malts and a very restrained hop presence. somewhat dissapointing when compared to the aroma.

mouthfeel is thin and light bodied, with a slick and crisp finish.

drinkability is good. this is a very simple brew (hence the name), with a character that lacks in overall solidity. the finished brew comes out a bit flabby, without anything holding it together.

I think there are a couple of ways you can approach this beer. First, this is a great brew which can introduce a person to craft beer. I can see a person who normally drinks Old Style or Miller being able to enjoy this and think that craft brew is not so "high-fallutin'."

However, if you're a craft beer afficiando, you may not think this beer is much. It's a good, solid summer lager that's not really light, but it's not super heavy either. It looks good, it tastes nice, but there's nothing super-special about this beer that makes it worthy of a higher rating.

Still, if you're sweating and need some refreshment, a bottle of this will totally fit the bill.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light yellow body with a wispy white head.

Smell: Cereal grain aroma with slight grass and floral notes.

Taste: Lightly sweet pale malts with a faint hint of grain. Mild grassiness. Hint of flowers. A sprinkling of yeast. No real bitterness present. Finishes exceedingly clean.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Not a bad beer by any means, but just a bit too light and a bit too thin for my tastes.

A-Poured a nice golden straw color and formed a thick head...decent retention.

S-Weak lemon, vegetation, faint malt. It's good, but weak. Smells like I'm walking through a wheat field after the rain.

T-Weak grain with light malt, and very faint hops. It vaguely reminds me of a really good beer passed through a filter.

M-This stuff is watery, but something about it makes it bright and lively on the palate. The carbonation is moderate.

D-A decent lager, but truly, as the bottle states, "beer at its most basic." But I feel like the skimped on everything except natural fresh spring water. This is my second go at Totally Naked. I like it more than the first try, but it's still my least favorite offering thus far from New Glarus. No problem, since they have plenty other superior offerings.

My friend Wende finally came over to see the new house last week. With her she brought Krista a fine bottle of red wine. For me, a six pack of Totally Naked. I hope that's not a hint at something else. Thank you Wende.

Appearance - Golden yellow body with many tiny bubbles rising from the bottom. The snow-white head is frothy even at just 3/4 of an inch. Very nice lacing.

Smell - The scent is full of malt. There is a subtle citrus aroma there as well.

Taste - The flavor is malty and smooth. There actually seems to be a two different malt flavors in each sip. It hints at a bitter beginning but in the end is pure smooth flavored malt.

Mouthfeel - The beginning is a little rough but the middle and end are smooth.

~ I can honestly seeing myself putting back a bunch of these on a Saturday afternoon or after a long evening biking. I'm betting this is a great warm weather brew. Ya know, the time of year when it’s warm enough to get Totally Naked.

Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, a nice malt and saaz hops. In the taste, a nice dry malt and a balanced small hop. A smooth malty mouthfeel and a dry malt, pilsner like aftertaste. Malty pilsner, session like. Pretty good.
