Appearance: Slightly merky color. Thin head on all aspects. Light lacing. Below average carbonation even for a hop bomb.
Smell: A heavy caramelized, heavy buttered popcorn aroma. There are some floral hops trying to burst through but overall get pulled down by the heavy aromas. Some boozy accents run through on the undertones of this brew.
Taste: Follows the aroma pretty well. A heavy hops hit on the front end. More molasses and saturated hops then I would have expected. Almost too much of a malt backbone. There isn't the traditional hop dryness one would expect, probably coming from the dark sugary hop tones. Again some airy light hop tones want to attack but seem to be drowned by everything else going on in this brew.
Mouthfeel: Meh, nothing that makes you remember this brew. Syrupy sweetness gets lost with some of the hop dryness.
Overall: An okay brew. New Glarus has its strong points and it is not IPAs.

12oz bottle poured into shaker pints and shared with Tim at the condo. Amber orange body with a bone colored head. Good lacing. Aroma is boozy, with bread and caramel malt backed by citrus and tropical fruit. Taste is bitter citrus peel and pine with sugary sweetness. Medium-full body, oily texture, average-plus carbonation, boozy dry finish.
