Notes / Commercial Description:
Severe Drought, we shared the farmer’s horror as Wisconsin’s cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The Apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsin’s favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavor discovered by accident in a sour ale!

Cheers to the unexpected.

Not sure I quite understand the glowing reivews of this beer. The beer was much more sweet than I was expecting (which was OK by me, as I'm not a huge sour fan), and it tasted very much like an unfiltered apple cider, but with a "beerish" aspect to it. Maybe there was a hint of cherries and cranberries as well, but the apple flavor really dominated.

Certainly this is not a bad beer, but it struck me as a bit simple and one dimensional, and was not a beer I could see myself wanting to buy again.

Sampled through the efforts of BA Vixie to find a bottle, thanks!

Hazy reddish brown colored ale with a medium sized tan colored head.

Smells fruity and tart. Raspberry jumps right up and bites you on the nose. Cranberry is the sour part. Scent of cherries even though they aren't supposed to be in this one. Scent of apple skins. No idea what crab apples smell like but I assume that is the apple note. There is a whiff of tannin here as if from a used tea bag. Overall it is a pleasant sweet tart fruit scent.

Starts out sweet and tart and fruity. It is rather sweet but the sour and tartness reins it in wonderfully. Raspberry is the strongest flavor. Cranberry is detected but not anywhere as strong as raspberry. Apple is detectable as a cider flavor but isn't near as strong as the raspberry. Slight bitterness but it isn't a major flavor element.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall very tasty and refreshing. One of the best from New Glarus.

A- Medium-light amber-brown body. Half finger white head with spiraling filmy lacing. Fair retention.

S- fruity cranberry and apple juice scents. It's like if you mixed both cranberry and apple juice together.. a slight bit of mineral-like yeast flavour. Fairly tart, but make no mistake, it is sweet.

F- the tart red apples jump out in the beginning, transitioning to a more cranberry predominant sweetness in the middle; it finally takes over in the end. It finishes with a sweet fruit skin-like flavour that could be cherry skins.

M- medium bodied, well carbonated and well executed. Slight tartness initially that becomes cranberry-sweet by the end.

O- Very good fruit beer. I see how this bought multiple different fruits together to meld something simple yet satisfying. I prefer Belgian Red to this, but I prefer this to Raspberry Tart. Hard to go wrong, really.

750mL waxed bottle poured into a stemmed glass.

(A)- Pours a darker shade of mahogany brown. Produced a nice cap of off-white colored froth. Decent retention with a bit of lacing.

(S)- Bright aromas of juicy fruits. The apple, cranberry, and cherry all mesh really well together yet can be distinguished seperately as well. Very clean smelling with just a bit of rustic must and dryness at the end.

(T)- Again, a serious array of ripe fruits meeting a subtle dry rustic must to give it some complexity to how big and ripe the delicious fruits are. Ever so slight tartness at the end.

(M)- A great carbonation level. The sweetness is balanced well with the dry backbone and tiny hint of sweet bitterness. Just superb fruits.

(O)- Just another excellent fruit beer from Dan. With an already excellent portfolio of them, yet this one stands out and tastes so smooth and juicy.

Received in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice dark dark brownish ruby red hue with a fat thumb width light tan head that fades to a thin light blanket.

S - Aromas of apples, cherries, and cranberries. This smells like someone took Wisconsin Red, Apple Ale, and Cranbic and blended them all together. Light vanilla oak notes. Very pleasant aroma with cherry being the dominant aroma.

T - Taste is just like the nose in that is is a nice blend of all three fruits. Bright fresh cherries, lightly tart, with very nice apple cider notes. The cranberry is there in the background, quite dry. Not as sugary sweet as the typical New Glarus fruit beer. The blending is quite quite nice with some nice light oaky vanilla to round things out.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, like a sparkling juice.

O - Overall I really, really enjoyed this beer. Not overly sweet, no cloy aspects. Basically drinks like a glass of cherry apple juice with some cranberry. Insanely tasty.

L: Pours brilliant cherry red under a 2” pink tinted white foam collar that fairly quickly dissipates to a thin film.
S: Smells like a fresh bowl of cherries and cranberries with suggestions of cinnamon and other spcies.
T: Big cherry flavors with apple and cranberry with spice balanced by a yeasty tartness.
F: Very fine soft carbonation, medium light body.
O: An interesting and well made beer with very little beer quality but in the end, very nice.

Thanks go out to Ri0 for this bottle!

A- A dark red colour, big head of foam that shrinks down quickly but leaves some nice lacing behind.

S- As soon as I popped the cap, the aromas literally permeated the area around me. Big green apples and sweet cherries every darn where...ooh..I am SO digging it. I could almost hover my nose over the glass for hours but...it's time to take a sip or 2, eh?

T- Oh my! The apples and cherries are there as expected but better executed than even I expected(not my first venture into NG Fruit/Vegetable beers) and then I'm hit with a mild cranberry tartness. Whoah, Nellie, this brew kills it!

M- Medium bodied, carbonation light until near/at/after the swallow where it perks up a bit. MF, like everything else screams nectar of the gods.

O- From my past track record for NG brews, I had high expectations. Those expectations were exceeded! Marvelous true Session beer!

Doesn't bring the sexy appearance wise, its brown and kinda meh. Aroma bangs it out though. Apple, cherry, cranberry. Very croosh.

Taste is more of the fruits, good tartness to cut through the ample sweetness. Found it weird that for a beer made during a cherry crop failure, that this one tastes of plenty cherry.

Elite 1st tier fruit beer stuff.
