Our Franconian answer to an English Stout. A top-fermented beer that pours a deep black with a dense head of creamy color. Fine roasted notes of coffee and dried plums hint at what to expect of the taste: dark chocolate and dried raisins embedded in a lean body with a pleasant bitterness. The aromas of the caramel, roasted and special malts dominate the flavor, while the creamy mouthfeel rounds off the Weiherer Schwärzla.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, herbal hops and hints of chocolate, dark fruit and licorice. Taste is a great balance of roasted, grainy, slightly caramelly malt, herbal, earthy hops and some chocolate, as well as hints of dark fruit (raisin, plum), licorice and tobacco. Finishes with a medium bitterness ands some roasted malt, herbal hops and chocolate lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A really nice, roasted and bitter Stout with a great balance of roasted, grainy malt, bitter herbal hops and hints of toffee sweetness, with some caramel malt, chocolate and lighter dark fruit, licorice and tobacco adding some complexity here, with a great richness and body/mouthfeel for the ABV. Just another terrific example of its style from Kundmüller at a very reasonable price. I just wish I could buy their stuff locally more often.

From the dark brown bottle with the black label, it our s a very dark color with a light tan head. Brown edges when you hold it up to the light. Lacing as you enjoy it. Scent of roasted malts in the nose. The mouth is washed with a well balanced dark malt flavor. Very nice!

Pours a night black color with a bigger, beige head.

Smells of pleasantly roasty malts, bakers chocolate and a lactic hint. A bright toffee sweetness settles in among the profound maltiness, adding a nice depth to the nose.

Tastes superbalanced, smooth and rustic, with a well fitting, soft carbonation among a light body.

Tastes of roasty toffee malts, milk chocolate, charred grains and just a hint of rock sugars. Becomes intensly flavorful due to a mineralic spritzyness, amping up chocolate and roast. Finishes clean, very roasty with a hint of smoke, earth and a gentle sweet toffee edge.

Very tasty stout interpretation, strong and rustic with just enough sweetness to create a great complexity.
