Our Franconian answer to an English Stout. A top-fermented beer that pours a deep black with a dense head of creamy color. Fine roasted notes of coffee and dried plums hint at what to expect of the taste: dark chocolate and dried raisins embedded in a lean body with a pleasant bitterness. The aromas of the caramel, roasted and special malts dominate the flavor, while the creamy mouthfeel rounds off the Weiherer Schwärzla.

From the dark brown bottle with the black label, it our s a very dark color with a light tan head. Brown edges when you hold it up to the light. Lacing as you enjoy it. Scent of roasted malts in the nose. The mouth is washed with a well balanced dark malt flavor. Very nice!

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a large, creamy head. Smells of roasted, slightly caramelly malt, herbal hops and hints of chocolate, dark fruit and licorice. Taste is a great balance of roasted, grainy, slightly caramelly malt, herbal, earthy hops and some chocolate, as well as hints of dark fruit (raisin, plum), licorice and tobacco. Finishes with a medium bitterness ands some roasted malt, herbal hops and chocolate lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A really nice, roasted and bitter Stout with a great balance of roasted, grainy malt, bitter herbal hops and hints of toffee sweetness, with some caramel malt, chocolate and lighter dark fruit, licorice and tobacco adding some complexity here, with a great richness and body/mouthfeel for the ABV. Just another terrific example of its style from Kundmüller at a very reasonable price. I just wish I could buy their stuff locally more often.

Yields an entirely black color with a huge mohagony colored head atop.
Smells of smoked grains, caramel malts and subtle, slightly spicy dark chocolate among cinnamon bark and licorice.
Drinks light and soft with a late, sparkly effervescence, showcasing a very well balanced beer.
Tastes of smoky campfire, balanced by earthy bitter chocolate and a note of soft whipped cream, with roasty grains and dry, spicy hops. Its mid palate turns dryer with prominent, toasty malts and a note of glazed caramel. Finishes with cocoa, slightly bitter cardamom, burned wood and a touch of marzipan among well pronounced whole grain malts and a lingering, leafy hoppiness.
This is tremendously flavorful regarding its moderate abv, tied together by a truly smooth mouthfeel. It’s stout qualities are unmistakably there with a soothing sweet malt peak among toasty husks and a perfectly nuanced hop bitterness at the back end of the palate.
