located in downtown Marietta, this brewpub has an awning over the front of the store, as do many shops in the area. Their stainless brewing equipment is spread out over two stories in the front of the pub, visible from the street. You walk in to a wood-lined copper bar that seats 12. Nice wooden tables are off to the side, with an additional raised dining area in the rear. Alcohol-related murals have been painted on the exposed brick walls, all beneath the old tin celing. This place feels much older than it's age of five years. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I enjoyed a bowl of chili and a bacon blue-cheese burger. It looked like they have a decent, non-drinking lunch crowd as well. The beers are good, with many being a little on the sweet side. This is by design, as they have found that the slightly sweet beers sell better for them, as I was told when I mentioned some of the beers could use some more hops. All in all, a nice experience. The bartender even wrote down directions for a small shortcut for my trip home. If you're in the area, stop in. It's a nice place in a lovely little town.

Had both the Coopers Copper and Mound Brown. Not well rounded, copper has harsh after taste, brown has a very forward caramel start and yet not very malty finish.

Bar staff a bit rough, food was good but bartender was not professional.

Got stuck working near here for a couple months. Its a neat looking location that is set up fairly well. Downtown area it is located in is neat also.

The food is pretty bland, as is the norm in Ohio from what I can tell. I think the pizza is their strong suit.

The beer they brew is bad, like jacked up homebrew bad. No mouthfeel on anything, poor carbonation and just don't taste good at all. I'm honestly not sure how they stay in business selling their beer. The have a decent bottle selection, about 12 different ones.

There is no reason to go out of your way to come here, but if you find yourself in the area I think this is about it. I went on several different occasions due to lack of any other options so I know I didn't just catch em on an off day.

Every small town in America should have it’s own brewing company. But not if it makes beer like this one.

The location was encouraging. Marietta is a cute, historic, architecturally interesting piece of living Americana right on the banks of the Ohio River. The building itself has towering ceilings, exposed brick walls, and beautiful murals painted right on the red bricks.

Continuing with the positive points, the food is decent if wildly unimaginative. Everything is pretty cheap and comes out fairly tasty. They definitely lose some points based on ingredient quality, though. For example, I guarantee that my prime rib beer braised sandwich was in no way, shape, or form made out of prime rib. If it was, it was the most overcooked, tough piece of prime rib I’ve ever had. And while my fiance’s salad was nicely adorned with some tasty flavor combinations, the underlying lettuce was iceberg.

I mean, come on. If you’re going to put that much effort into a salad, at least have the decency to put something other than the blandest, least nutritional leaf known to man.

Which brings me to the beer. It was pretty bad. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a brewpub before (and this was #232 for me) where, after having tried the sampler, I seriously considered ordering a PBR instead of a pint of their own brew. The blonde tasted like PBR but thinner. There was a summer shandy-esque lemonade wheat concoction that made me want to vomit. A copper ale and IPA had decent flavor profiles to begin with but left the mouth lingering with an awful bitter taste for several minutes. And the stout was just flat out undrinkable – a first for me regarding stouts in my beer travels. The grains just tasted burnt or something. Blech.

If in the area, I highly recommend skipping this place.

Stopped here for a quiet early evening dinner during our trip and found that it was a reasonably good choice.

It was a Sunday evening and the website makes it a point to let you know that the brewer will be in the house on Sunday. We met him and had a chance to chat a bit about his work, etc. and some of his beers. He has been head brewer since late 2010 and seemed to appreciate the feedback I gave him about what I liked about the two beers I'd sampled and where I thought, for my tastes, they might be improved a bit.

We also found out that the "building" was, as we had sort of guessed, once upon a time an alley way between two other buildings that had been closed off and converted into the Marietta Brewing site.

The food was well prepared, fresh and pretty good, but took a bit too long I thought for the size of the crowd when we first arrived. While we were waiting for and eating the meal there was a fairly steady flow of people into the building so the place seems popular with the Marietta natives as well.

The service was adequate but did not stand out in any particular way.

The beers were fine but not particularly exceptional in any way.

My wife and I took a trip to Marietta with two things in mind: visiting the ancient Native American earthworks and sampling some brews at the Marietta Brewing Company.

The earthworks are amazing. The brewery is not. The chalkboard lists eight beers, but only three were available. I've visited many breweries around the US and have never heard of a beer-making establishment serving only *three* beers.

We tried the "Kelley's Red Ale" (an Irish-style red) and the "Autumnal Stout". Both had beautiful dark deep colors, but the beauty stopped there. Taste, smell and mouthfeel were all thin, average, watery, sad. You couldn't tell the Red from the Stout. It seriously was like drinking flavored carbonated water.

I also got a sample of "Paw Paw", which the board listed as being 9% but the bartender described as "the lightest beer we brew". Light it was, and boring. Fruity and weird too.

The beer can be written-off, and the ambience pretty much too. This is an OK brewpub with an industrial feel, a little impersonal. Lots of tables, and a small bar filled with local young folks drinking Miller Lite and Bud Light (one of the Coors-chugging chicks even pulled a beer cozy and proceeded to wrap her bottle of swill).

Service was not stellar, but I really enjoyed chatting with one of the guys behind the bar. He loved beer and Indian mounds, and just for that I would go back to this brewery. :-)

Didn't try food, as we were advised by our host at a local bed and breakfast not too. Didn't look great anyway.

A huge disappointment overall and all around, but sure, for Marietta/Southeastern Ohio it ain't bad.. because there's nothing else! It's worth driving an hour west to Athens to get good beer, though.

This is the best brewpub in the area. They have a good selection of microbrews made on site. I have tried many of their beers, and they all have been good.

Their food is good too. I like the buffalo chicken sandwich.

The atmosphere is pretty cool, from the copper brew kettles visible as you walk in to the old brick walls, to the entertainment.

The only thing that I can criticize the place about is their tap list on their website. The website is good, and they have the capability of updating the tap list, but they don't seem to update it very often. This of course is just a minor inconvenience, but I would probably make the 20 minute drive to visit the place more often if I knew exactly what was on tap from the website. Of course, if I weren't so lazy, I could just call and find out.

Overall, this is a great place.

One beer on tap, the Scottish Ale. Don't quite understand why only one or if this is a exception or the rule. Sole reason for this review is to advise anyone thinking of a beer trip to call ahead and see if it's worth the effort. The Scottish ale was well done and spot on style. The brewer it would seem knows what he's doing but very limited in his offerings.

Food was nice, the burger and soup I had were tasty and served in a timely manner. Again not good enough to warrant a rave. Service was friendly and efficient.

stopped at MBC on a road trip from PA to Ohio on 7.3.08.

the brewery is located downtown Marietta, quite is a quaint artsy place. as you walk in, the brew equipment is on your left, facing the street through big windows for all to see that choose not to be inside. due to it being downtown, the establishment is long and narrow. there is a long bar on your right as you walk in with tables along the left and in the back. the bar is a nice copper bar. there is exposed brick walls throughout which gives it a nice look as well as cool painted are on the wall.

they don't have that many beers on tap, 4 or 5 when i was there. they carry other beer on tap as well as light beer in the bottle. this frustrates me when brew pubs offer light beer. but oh well, it is not my business to run.

the food was good - just had some apps, but what food i saw go by me looked good.

worth a stop into this place.

The place is long and narrow. Being fairly early on a saturday, it was quiet. I could tell by the signage hanging around, that at night this could be a good place to party.
Hostess was at the ready when we walked in.

The brewing equiptment sits to the left as you walk in.
Food was very good as well as the service.

Beer selection was poor. Only three currently available. Pale Ale , Rasberry Wheat and the Scotch Ale.
Hoping for more in the beer department, but oh well.
I guess maybe more beer was in the fermenter. I hope so!!!

Marietta Brewing Company is located in downtown Marietta on Front Street right near the Ohio River about 10 minutes from I-77. Street parking was plentiful on a weekday afternoon.

The quaint building where MBC is located is really pretty both outside and in. The storefront allows a 2nd story view at the brewing tanks through some windows. Once inside there is a 2-story foyer where the raised brewing equipment is viewable from pretty much the entire establishment. The bar is located along the right side, with seating in the bar area and in a large back room. It is all brick on both sides with large painted Marietta Brewing logos.

I picked a bad day to visit because they literally only had one beer available, plus their house roorbeer. Based on the board they normally have a lot more beers (obviously) so I can't ding their selection too much. I will definitely need to visit again when they haven't been cleaned out because I have enjoyed most of their beers I have tried.

Service here was good on a Tuesday afternoon. The bartender was friendly and knew the beer(s).

I did not try any food on this visit.

Overall I would definitely visit this brewpub the next time I am near Marietta. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on running out of all but one of their beers, I suppose it is good news that there is enough interest in craft beer in a smaller city like Marietta to cause that.

This is the kind of place that as a beer lover you wish you were part of in some way. I wish I was an owner, a brewer, a regular, something. The atmosphere is extremely social and live entertainment is some of the best around. It gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so get there early if you want to sit down. I grew up about 20 minutes from this place and try to visit it everytime I go back. Most of the selection is from their own brews, but they do have other stuff too. I recommend trying the MacClaren's Scotch Ale and I don't know the name of it, but I had a Brown Ale there once that was very smooth, "nutty" and delicious. In fact, just writing this review is making me consider driving up there this weekend.
This brewery has an long history, it actually shut down for a while, then re-opened in the same location. Ask an employee for the whole story as you enjoy one of the tasty drafts.

Hey this is a great, family friendly place for lunch. The beers I had in the sampler were all fair but nothing out of this world. I liked the pale ale enough to get a pint. The raspberry wheat was enjoyed by my wife, and the kids all loved their house root beer.

Service was good but slightly dis-organized for a Saturday lunch. No complaints though, the server was friendly and cute and the food was out of this world. We were not given kids menus (though the waitress said the host should have hooked us up). But that didn't matter because they have this lunch pasta thing where you pick a soup or salad, garlic bread or roll, pick your pasta, sauce, veggies and meat all for 6.95. Really not a bad deal and it was way too much for the kids to eat which was great for me because all I had was an excellent roasted veggie wrap.

A recommended stop for lunch for anyone, and I'm sure based on the signs around that the night life there is not bad either. Live bands and such.

The atmosphere is pure brew-pub. Nice!

This is a great little brewpub for a small town like Marietta. The place isn't very big, but in this locale, it doesn't really need to be. In fact, the size makes it a comfortable place. I also like that the mash tun, brew tank and fermentors are all located at the front of the building and easily visible by everybody who stops by.

The beers are quite good. I had the McLaren Scotch Ale, which is a fine representation of the style and a very good beer. The Hefeweizen was very refreshing and the IPA was fantastic. It went very well with my barbeque pulled pork sandwich and fries.

The food was good, especially for the price. The service was excellent. I like to go here every time I make it to Marietta.

I try to stop here every year while attending my family reunion. This is a wonderful little brewpub for a small town like this. The beers aren't the best but they are very good. The dinner menu is much better that the lunch menu although I've had some excellent lunches there too. My favorites are the IPA and Scotch Ale. This last trip, I had a raspberry wheat that came across a little too tart for my taste. If you are passing through southeast Ohio, this is an easy and worthwhile stop. Just a couple of miles off of I-77 near the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers.

Stopped in for lunch - black and blue burger - well cooked and mild cheese made it a good sandwich. The fries were straight out of the fryer and excellent with a little ketchup. Atmosphere was a standard microbrew - wood panel walls, old hardwood floors, recently flooded bathroom. The waitress was pretty unattentive since I was one of 3 in the whole joint. The one beer I tried was excellent and worth a return for it alone. I was kinda of disappointed that the wine shop across the street didn't have a 6er that I could take home with me.

Brewing equipment is two tiered, displayed right in the storefront where it belongs. Kettles on the bottom fermenters, filters, and kegging equipment is on top this place could probably use a few serving tanks but I'm guessing there's no room for any. Copper topped bar all wood bar with stools and flat top tables upfront, normal dining tables line the left side the narrow front of the brewpub opens up toward the back where more dining area and a stage for their regular live music acts bid their time. Service was solid young college aged staff I'm assume their students at Marietta college. I had the sampler followed by a pnt of their very nice Schwarzbier (black lager). Impressed by the Scotch ale as well, other brews were an IPA and a helles. Ate a pepperback burger not too impressed by their food here pretty mediocre but everything is very affordable so it's all good.

We showed up at Marietta Brewing Co the Friday after Thanksgiving. With so many people in town and the college kids probably gone, this may not have been the same scene of an average weekend. However, the place was packed, the band was surprisingly good (three girls and two guys), and the beers that I tried were fantastic. I believe there were 5 beers on tap plus domestic offerings for those not intereted in their microbrews. Since my family lives about 15 miles away, I'll definitely be coming back to try out there food and other beer selection. Great place in a nice town.

The area itself, outside of Marietta seems a little depressed...(I came from the north) but the town proper was very impressive.
The pub brewery selection features 4 permanent brews plus seasonal favorites.
The staff were very friendly and informed.
The food was exceptional....we had the taco wraps, exellent!!!!!!!!!!!
