look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 4
Hazy, dark amber with three fingers of light tan head that have decent retention and leave thick lacing.
Lightly sweet malt in the nose, tempered by a hint of toast and a good whiff of carbonation.
Lightly sweet in the taste, too: caramel, toast and the slightest, totally-appropriate hint of butter. Not at all cloying, that part is perfectly done, but a bit more crispness in the finish would make it better.
A touch heavier bodied than normal for the style with modest carbonation.
Very drinkable. I was worried that a new microbrewery would be too heavy handed with the malt sweetness in a Vienna, but they got that just about perfect. Could use just a touch more crispness and zip from the carbonation. Straight from the tap is likely better. 10/14 canning date on the crowler.
