Sampled today on 4/28/15. Comes in a 12 ounce can. Can chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a flute glass.

Brew pours a golden-honey in color with a very thin white head. Lots of lacing is seen when sipped that stuck to the edges of the glass when sipped. Much more than the small head would indicate. The aroma is of wheat, pepper, spice, orange and coriander. Pretty much the same is said of the taste. Lots going on and pleasantly surprised. Finishes nicely with the orange peel, clove and coriander at the end, but not over powering. Nice balance. Slightly dry finish but works for this tasty brew. Close to medium-bodied and good carbonation. Crisp and refreshing. Liked this brew!

12 fl oz. can, with no apparent freshness date present, although I assume it is a summer 2012 release. Seems to be a fairly unknown beer at this point, with only 31 ratings as of this writing. Witbier, not my favorite, but we'll see what happens. Intriguing artwork on the can, at the very least.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours a murky cloudy lemon color with about two fingers of bubbly eggshell white head. Slight half ring of lacing.

S - Fruity, spicy orange. Freshly squeezed lemon. Sugary iced tea. Some coriander, lavender, and other floral aspects. Smells like a spring flower.

T - Smells like a lot of fruity / floral spring and summer spices. Lemon, coriander, lavender, paired with a moderately carbonated malt backbone. Faint, muted grapefruit hops. I have to admit, I am highly impressed with the taste of this beer. Taste pairs accurately with the aroma.

M - Fruity, light bodied, floral, and malty. This beer is very well-rounded and palatable. Perfectly balanced, and perfect level of carbonation.

Overall, delicious, and highly drinkable even after sitting for a while, possibly one of my favorite witbiers yet. This is definitely a beer I will have to revisit soon. My first beer from Wild Onion Brewing Co., but I can guarantee you it won't be my last. Seems to be a fairly uncommon brew, but you should give it a shot if you manage to find it.

I thought this was a little better than most reviewers give credit for, not world class, but not bad at all as a summer refresher, and certainly within the stylistic realm of a wit. Pours slightly hazy, golden in color perhaps a bit darker than the average wit, and with a decent white head. Smells yeasty, with some orange citrus and slight metallic notes. The taste is nicely balanced- sweet with orange and tangerine notes that are pleasant, and with a nice touch of coriander. Just enough tartness to handle the sweet fruit. The mouthfeel is fairly soft, but there is enough of a snap at the end to still make this refreshing. The tangerine notes here make this beer worth drinking for me, and just a tad different from the usual wit- not always a bad thing.

Served in a Sam Adam's Perfect Pint Glass

Thanks to TMoney2591 for his generosity with Onion Pub cans, lord knows I'm too weary of them to buy them...stupid Pumpkin Ale.

This beer pours a cloudy pale yellow with a pure white craggy peak. The aroma is potent, actually too much so. The orange zest, pepper, and hella-coriander (that's super coriander, because the smell is so potent of it). The flavor rather matches the taste, and surprisingly it's actually a rather good beer. Toned down on much of the strong flavors it has a nice sweet flavor and some yeastiness that could either be the wheat flavor or the yeast itself either way it's the way a wit should taste. Not a bad beer, someone apparently taught the Onion Pub how to brew recently.

Served in a pokal at the brewpub.

Two signs that warm weather ain't too far from the nearest horizon: I get my haircut (it feels weird now to not have so much fur on top), and wits become prevalent at the brewpubs. This one pours a hazy pale straw topped by about a finger-and-a-half of white foam. The nose comprises light lemon zest, coriander, cardamom, and a pinch of black pepper. The taste sharpens the lemon zest considerably, while still going easy on the lemon flavor itself. Other notes include black pepper (more than in the smell), cardamom, bitter lemon peel, and a touch of clove. The body is pretty light, with a moderate carbonation and a pretty damn dry finish. Overall, a pretty nice wit, something that would work very well in the coming warm climes.

Sampling a cold can poured into a pint glass.
The beer pours a hazy gold hue with lots of suspended sediment and streams of carbonation rising to the surface. A fluffy bleached white head of 1.5 cm foams up with a gentle pour and fades to a wispy island within a few minutes.
Aroma is grainy and some lemon and citrus zest. I also get a little spicy pepper notes in the background. Very fresh and crisp scented nose.
First sip reveals a light crisp body with fine tingly carbonation. Flavor is clean grainy malt and a bit of lemon zestiness. Very easy to drink and perfect on a warm summer evening. Finishes with a bit of sweet floral notes and I am finished with the pint in short order, actually a little surprised at how fast I drink the beer.
Solid wit that I would recommend to those who like the style.

Local Brew (to my proximity)
Poured from can into glass

A: Pours a golden color with a foamy 2 finger head. Decent lacing. Lacing dissipates.

S: Spice, citrus, clove, grapefruit, wheat malt, and I believe I smell coriander. A nice complex for a wit.

T: The spice, citrus, and wheat from the smell come through immediately. The taste is tame for what the smell hinted at.

M: Smooth, light bodied, creamy, with very little carbonation. An easy wit to put down with good coating. Finish is decent.

O: I'm impressed for a brewery that is just emerging. A solid offering for a witbier. The can offering is nice for those looking for a good beer to bring to the beach.

Summer Wit pours cloudy with a light golden straw color true to style. A thick white head quickly forms and recedes slowly. The nose receives a wide array of aromas including white peppercorn, clove, lemon zest, coriander, orange peel, bubblegum, lemongrass, and a faint citrus hop presence. Bitter zest dominates on the palate from beginning to finish. Mid-palate is greeted with sweet malt and citrus juice notes, which are kept in check by the zesty notes. The wheat sweetness fades in the finish with the entrance of clove and coriander spices and a delicate floral note. The pleasant finish is dry and quite long.

The Wild Onion Summer Wit is a spicy version of a least to me. The appearance is a cloudy pale yellow with ok carbonation and thin white head that seems to be lacing. The smell has a flowery bouquet....maybe corriander??? the taste has much spice that seems clovey to me. Not much in the taste of citrus...maybe a sublte hint....but spice dominates this beer. The mouthfeel is good....great for a hot day.
