12 fl oz. can, no canned on date present. A new one to me from Wild Onion, acquired a single can of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.
Poured into a Big Eddy snifter glass.
A - It pours a dark cola color, appears just a few shades away from opaque black in the glass, with some hues of cola showing near the surface. One finger of khaki-cream head that falls to a ring quickly. Minor spotty lacing. Looks okay.
S - The aroma doesn't really hit the traditional stout profile. Not particularly roasty, more of a burnt / charred malt aroma, with some lingering notes of mustiness and band-aid aroma in the background.
T - Again, doesn't really hit the mark. Smokey, leathery, charred, burnt, & watery. No thick heavy notes of roasty coffee or chocolate. No vanilla or cream suggestions. I can definitely discern what tastes like liquid smoke in there. It grows on me as I sip it, but this is not the stout I was looking for.
M - The mouthfeel is thin, weak, & watery. Definitely not suited to style. Mild bitter burnt malt lingers. Slightly minerally?
Overall, I'll give it the 3.5 for the effort, but I've been having more misses with Wild Onion than I've been having hits.

12oz can, no canned on date, poured into a snifter
A- pours a nearly opaque black color with a small khaki colored head that reduces quickly, leaving just a ring around the edge
S- roasted malt aroma up front with some dark fruity notes of prune & fig, a bit of whipping cream sweetness
T- chocolaty roasted malt with some dark fruit notes that follow the nose, highlights of prune, a hint of coffee before finishing sweet with notes of whipped cream
M- medium body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a sweet flat finish
O- a straight forward stout, was hoping for a better mouthfeel, given that it's an oatmeal stout

Sampled earlier this evening on 4/18/15. Comes in a 12 ounce can. Can chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 10 ounce snifter glass.
Brew pours really close to a pitch black in color with the thick foamy 1-finger beige head that lasted a good bit. Lots of lacing was seen when sipped, almost ring-like. The aroma is of dark roasted malts and dark fruits, maybe black cherries? Much more going on with the taste as there is a hint of chocolate, coffee and even cola. No harsh or bitter aftertaste at all. Very tasty and very smooth. Goes down easy. Medium-bodied with good carbonation.
