Got this the way it ought to be done - given to me from a float in the Markt Kueps Faschings Parade. Perfect for the parade, large off white head, amber orange color, pleasant scent and nice taste. What else is needed?

Half litre bottle poured into a tulip glass.

A: Pours smooth hazy amber-orange to toffee colour, small white head which fades quickly.

S: Strong toffee and caramel notes. Bread, cream, citrus and brown sugar.

T: Initial sweet malts, earth, wheat and milk comes through, fading seamlessly to bittersweet notes and cooked apple finish. A wonderful transition.

M: Very light, clean and neat. Moderate carbonation, very crisp.

O: A very nice crafted Keller, well balanced and highly drinkable.

Hazy orange color with beige head that goes away quickly. Grainy, bready aroma with a hint of honey. Taste follows with the exactly same notes. Very balanced and easy to drink but nothing really special.

Half litre bottle, poured into pint glass.

A: Amber, orange, hazy, small fading off white head, retained some lacing.

S: Initial fresh north German pils like smell was replaced by brown sugar and molasses.

T: Brown sugar, cranberry, slight bitterness, wheat and charcol came through at the finish.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, fairly crisp - Easy drinker.

O: Pretty solid Kellerbier, all aspects faded towards the end but it still worked.

A: Pours slightly hazy orange with a warm, yellowish, tall, thick but still light head. Rich, rich lacings.

S: Very dry and malty - bready. Neat and clean. BItter hops. Some smoked ham in the back.

T: Very true to the smell - almost identical.

M: Long, lovely bitter aftertaste. Body is medium and very smooth and a bit creamy. Carbonation is medium.

O: A well-crafted Keller!

0.5 l bottle of specialty brew picked up in Germany.

Brown golden colour, big white head, decent carbonation.

This is a very flavourfull beer: it's malty, nutty and hoppy. Nice big bittersweetness.
The smell is a bit faint, but the flavour more than makes up for it: it's big. Spicy earthy, floral, citric notes, it's all there.

Mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side: carbonation should have been more.
Overall, this is a good beer to sample.

50cl bottle Best before poured in my Spaten Seidel

A- A pale, slightly cloudy amber, with a 3 finger creamy solid head on the pour giving good head retention and lacing.

S- Malt dominating, toffee on the nose, a little honey

T- Munich malt sweetness up front.Hops are there in the finish but not explosive, they are subtle but fade quickly. I swear i am getting apple juice as an aftertaste

M-Its not a dry finish, id describe it as juicy, maybe due to the detection of an apple juice note in the finish. Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation.

D- Its not a true Kellerbier to me, but i really do like it. More like a Marzen with a fruity apple undertone to me. Lacks the hop bite and dry finish of a Keller. Malt in the nose, fruity on the tongue. Very drinkable indeed.

Beer number 5 in my German tasting evening 2 July 2010. The brown half-litre bottle was best before 4 Sept 2010 and was poured into my lovely Wolnzacher Brauhaus (Hopfenperle) glass mug.

The beer was a cloudy, murky dull orange colour. The large off-white foaming head left some good lacing on the glass as I downed the beer.

The smell wasn't strong, some grains and cereals maybe, but not much of anything really.

The taste was almost sour, with a bitterness not normally found in German beers (apart from Berlinerweiss) was cleary evident. Not unpleasant, just unexpected.

Overall I thought the beer to be strange and unbalanced.

I enjoyed a 0.5l mug of this (2.80EU) with a tasty Cordon Bleu at the Gasthof Rödertor in Rothenburg on 27SEP09.

Poured a cloudy copper, with a rocky, off-white, puffy head. The foam lasts well, with good lacing. Has an aromatic, floral hop nose, with minimal malt evident. Medium for body, but this bier is a bit airy and bubbly on the tongue.

Low malt in the flavor as well, with a typical, keller-like greenishness. Some green apple sourness is here, like it's fresh from the vats. Hops added a bit more of a flowery character at the finish. Good for 1 or 2 mugs, tops. Zum Wohl!!
