tap, fall 2013 version

Pours a deep hazy reddish brown with a white lacing for a head.

Smells of caramel, chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla.

Rich flavor with all sorts of different elements in there. Figs, vanilla, bourbon, oak, molasses, chocolate, cherries, and a bit of smokey bready malt.

Full syrupy body with a fizzy carbonation on the tongue. Warms going down and numbs a bit on the tongue.

Really tasty and enjoyable strong ale, a real sipper with some great flavors and aromas. One of my new favorites from CBW.

Pours a mahogany color with an off white head. Good clarity and leaves a bit of lace. Aroma of bourbon, smoke, fruit and molasses. In the taste, booze soaked fruit , dates, plum, wood and bourbon. Raisin, toffee, and some booze. This hooch is Full bodied with a medium-low carbonation. Barreled vanilla lingers in an elegant aftertaste. Overall, this is a delicious strong ale, reminiscent of a barrel aged barleywine.

A blend of 2 different bourbon barrel aged beers: an Old Ale and Golden Strong Ale.

On tap at the source served in a cervoise. The brew appears a clear burnt copper color with orange seen around the edges when held to the light. A thin white cap rests atop that is quick to fade.

The smell is primarily that of bourbon with a huge vanilla sweetness and some oak. A bit of candy sweetness like caramel and toffee is also present with a fruity element like raisins.

The flavor has bourbon and raisony alcohol with toffee and molasses-like maltiness. Some raw oak and hints of cardboard-like oxidation. Vanilla is felt across the back that lasts into the aftertaste.

This is a medium to fuller bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. A pleasantly complex sipper that has some real potential. Probably one of the better offerings I have had from this place.
