16oz can. Sample from the brewery.

FBarber challenged me on the BeerAdvocate Discord to join the Wheat Beers online tasting thread. Checked my beer fridge. Discovered this one lurking in the back since January 2021. Nearly forgotten. Let's see how it's held up.

Pale, straw, golden that's hazy, but not murky, and topped with a snappy foam head that quickly drops to a super creamy lace that sticks a bit. Kind of odd as this usually results in no head, but not here. Herbal and spicy nose in those with notes of freshly grated citrus peel, chamomile tea, and a dusting of coriander. Mouthfeel is ridiculous. Silky, smooth, creamy, fully, and light. First sip yields a semi-tart orange rindiness that's balanced with a touch of honey sweetness and doughy malts, cut by soft notes of coriander. Interesting hit of what my brain thinks is star anise (or maybe fennel) that emerges the more the beer warms. Whatever it is, it's just enough to not overpower this delicate beer and compliments its tea-like quality. Finish is quite dry and biscuity with residual herbal notes that linger. Picking up some earthiness and pink peppercorn too.

Blank Slate is a very delicious take on the Witbier style. One of the best new Witbiers that I've had in recent years. I'll definitely be buying some when I get a chance.

16-ounce can with no canning date. Enjoyed in a nonic half-pint glass.

The color is an attractive pale gold, not quite opaque. The snowy white foam builds a nice fluffy head that quickly recedes to a dense ring at the edges and a thin skin on the surface. It doesn't leave much lacing. (Given the density of the foam, I'm inclined to blame my glassware.)

The aroma starts bright and clean, full of citrus peels and a splash of juice. There's also a mild malty sweetness perfumed with a lively burst of peppery and flowery notes. Ends grainy and doughy.

The beer opens with sweet, bready flavors and a touch of honey. Tart citrus with a mild bite of orange peel comes through the middle as the initial sweetness fades. The finish is dry and grainy, and leaves a lingering impression of sweet orange, dried orange peel, and delicate layers of floral spices.

The beer has a creamy, medium-heavy body. High carbonation with small bubbles gives the beer a fluffy texture. Very nice.

Radiant Blank Slate is a tasty witbier, and reminds me that I need to drink this style more often. While I think it starts out slightly too sweet, it dries out nicely through the middle, and has a good collection of flavors. The spicy character, in particular, is nicely nuanced. I'd be happy to drink this one again.
