Had at the Newark, DE location on Saturday, into a shaped glass. Comes out inky black with a light tan head that leaves some lacing.

Smell is some roasted malt, hints of chocolate, nice earthiness. The flavor is really nice, sweetness up front, coffee and char in the middle. Finishes with a lingering sweetness and some chocolate and vanilla bean. Mouthfeel is nice and chewy, great body to this one.

Overall a really solid porter, excellent for the cooler months. Take a sample of this one if you're into full bodied porters.

On nitro-tap @ Iron Hill Lancaster on 11/14/10. Served in an oversized mug.

Pours a clear dark amber/near brown, with a smooth flat head of creamy mocha colored froth. Classic nitro look here, leaving back heavy and rich lacing that slathers the sides of the mug. Aaahhh, the aroma is just so smooth and flavorful, smelling of chocolate, vanilla, and coconut, with a smidge of nuttiness in the back. I'm also picking a light husky texture as well and some earthy hops that help give the sweetness a green stickiness in the nose.

The taste is just as a decadent, with notes of cocoa, vanilla, and roast all melding into a delicious blend of dark smooth sweetness on the palate. The coconut comes out across the back of the profile and lingers with notes of cocoa powder and some green hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and so smooth, creamy, and silky feeling here on the nitro that it literally feels like water going down. Just an effortless drinkibility on this overall.

Wow, Paul and crew do some excellent version of Porters here and they just absolutely knocked it out of the park again with this one. The flavors here are just so tasty, robust, and well balanced, and serving this on nitro just did a ridiculous job of smoothing it out. This probably had one of the best nitro-feels on it that I've ever tried. I could have easily pounded back mug after mug of this. I'm going to have to get back over again before this is one gone. Awesome stuff!

On tap at the Lancaster location on 11/19/10.

This brew appears a dark brown that displays some clarity around the edges. A finger of silky smooth creamy tan head appears and retains very well. It leaves a leggy amount of lace around the glass.

The aroma is cocoa powdery goodness. It has a sweet toasted quality with a minor indication of hops. Overall smells quite sweet but has a depth of character that opens up as it warms with scents of vanilla, milky sweetness and a roasted grain character that is almost smokey.

The taste is cocoa and sweet with a minor hop inclusion that balance it out without any direct bitterness or distinct hop characteristics. Toasty grain that imparts a lightly roasted bitter quality that resides on the tongue mixed with some vanilla sweetness.

This is a medium bodied brew that is light in carbonation and has a creamy silky smooth feel. Excessively drinkable to the point of being poundable. Honestly, I could see myself consuming several of these easily in one sitting with no problem.

a: This was a dark, clear, chestnut brown. It was served to me with a massive cap of tan foam that never went away.

s: Mild overall, but lots going on. I found heavy roast, semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, and maybe a hint of the coconut.

t: Perfect. Up front I tasted strong, semi-sweet chocolate with hints of sweet vanilla. I'm really glad the vanilla wasn't too strong. The finish had lots of roasty malt with cocoa flavors and the coconut lingering for quite some time.

m: Light bodied with amazingly creamy carbonation. The long finish was just spectacular.

d: This was a seriously great fucking beer. All the elements were there in balance and played extremely well off of one another. I really hope this comes around again, it might be Paul's best.
