06/28/05- Purchased at Osco Drugs in Billings, MT.
Presentation- 12oz dated bottle of best by 07/05 nothced on the label. Poured into my Anchor X-mas pint glass.
Appearance- Light amber colored pour with a nice 1/4 inch head and very light lacing.
Smell- Smells that of an amber. A bit darker than a normal ale and nice malt and light hop scent.
Taste- Lightly malty. Very light for an amber ale. Maybe some toasted malt in the flavor. Tastes like a stronger pils from the hops they use.
Mouthfeel- Average carbonation, slightly fuller mouthfeel. Leaves mouth a tad dry.
Drinkability- Pretty crisp and smooth brew. Kinda light tasting for and amber though. But, otherwise a pretty decent brew.

12oz picked up at a little shop in Lewistown Montana called Brooks Market... Great little shop in a good beer desert.
Poured into a makeshift pint glass... foamy 1" head atop a lite amber brew... descent lace and retention.
Aroma is lite bready malts with touches of toast... and maybe some caramel.
Flavor mirrors the nose with a slightly more assertive edge... some grassy hoppiness mid palate with a clean finish... body is a touch heavier than some of their other brews... and the carbonation is prickly but adds a layer to the drinkability... Overall... this one tastes very fresh.
I wish I would have taken better notes.. but I was getting a little sauced by this point. :-)

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a rather medium amber color with a small fizzy looking head of white foam. The head fades almost instantly after pouring leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is mostly a mix of a slightly grainy and bready smell mixed with some hints of caramel and a bit of a fruity aroma of apple and pear.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and rather sweeter caramel taste with a little bit a grainy flavor. The grainy flavor is very light throughout, just gaining a bit of intensity toward the end of the flavor. The caramel is later joined by some light fruit notes of green apple and pear. A little bit of grass comes to the tongue at the very end rounding out the taste and leaving a somewhat sour and sweet bready flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is moderate in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather standard. Overall it is OK for the flavors as it keeps it drinkable all while supporting the flavors to a decent extent.
Overall – Just a rather standard amber at best. A little too sour due to the green apple with not enough light roasted flavor to really be a good amber. Decent to drink, but nothing special.

Picked up for $14.88 as part of a mixed 12 pack picked up on 9-2-11 at Wolds Valley Market in Seeley Lake, MT. Assembled on 7-18-11. Reviewed from notes made 9-2-11.
Beer poured a light copper with a thin white head that dissapated quickly.
Nose was an inv=itial blast of bavarian wheat, non-descript as the beer warmed.
Taste was well balanced as the wheat based beer finished with a nice balancing metallic hop.
Mouthfeel was light to medium bodied, lightly carbonated but very refreshing nonetheless.
Overall a nice little session beer that is refreshing and with some flavor to make it interesting.

Bayern Amber is not amber, it is however a dirty brownish cloudy yellow, no amber to be seen, I guess it fits though for a Marzen, so why call it amber? ...gets a thin white fluffy head that poofs away and leaves some spotty lace with a ring. Smell is faint sweet musty malts and very light and dull citrus notes. Taste is mild mellow frothy malts, lightly sweet and moderately crisp, light and easy, nothing stands out, kinda bland and boring. Feel is thin and favors a lighter medium body, one thing going for it is that its not watery. At least thats something. Very average drinker all around.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with kyzr (thanks!).
Poured a medium and hazy golden color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of caramel and overall buttery. Tastes of caramel, buttery, and toasted malts. Was this a bad bottle with all that butteriness? I may have to revisit this one (send me one!).

Sampled at the Bayern Brewery on the Montana Beer Trip, and brought back mixed 12 pack. Nice scenery labels, BB date notched. Neck label describes this as 'a rich amber in color', but I thought it was a little lighter in color. Poured with half inch head that was gone before the first sip. Smells like other ambers, nice malts and light hop scent. Taste is light malt, very light actually. Good hop presence in the end. Average carbonation, smooth but nothing special. Good but nothing out of the ordinary.

OK, caveat: I found this in my dad's wine fridge. The bottle says best before August 2004. It is now November 2005.
Pours a slightly cloudy copper-amber hue with a nice, bright white head. Yeasty aroma is reminiscent of a Belgian ale, but that must be the aging at work. Notes of very sweet caramel malt and some light fruit come through. More yeast on the palate, along with a more subdued caramel malt flavor and a bit of a hoppy bite. Body is nice and substantial. I have to say, it must be a very different product when it's fresh, but this is still a pretty decent beer.

Appearance: Extremely clear pale golden color. There is a head of tight bubbles at first pour that retains pretty well.
Aroma: Some toasty malts noticeable in the aroma. The aroma is pretty clean with little to no hops to speak of.
Taste: Clean malty flavor that only has the hops to balance the malt. The finish is definitely toward the sweet. There is a bit of yeast character there, but it isn't overpowering enough to put this beer out of style.
Opinion: This is a really clean and drinkable beer. As it warms, I notice a bit more of the yeast coming out that seems out of place. It is a really well crafted brew, but I would expect there to be a bit more of the toasty malt and a few melanoidins thrown in for flavor. It is a bit more flavorful than the Dark Lager category that Shiner and Blackened Voodoo fit into, but the taste is similar.

This is another quality beer form Bayern. The light amber color is inviting. The flavor and body profile is very similar to the Trout slayer, except the amber has a slight roasted malt character to it.
